“You’re Making $455,000 - Why Don’t You Pay Your Poor Old Mom!” | Shark Tank AUS

2020 ж. 28 Мам.
1 272 974 Рет қаралды

Annas 'Ace' Ahsan is in the Tank asking for an investment of $80,000 in return for a 10% equity stake in his spice business which he had valued at $800,000. 'Your Flavour' is handmade seasoning products that claim to be a healthier version of what is out there in the flavoring market while giving customers a ‘reason to season’ but Naomi Simson loses it at fellow Shark Steve Baxter after he insults her 'ridiculous' offer...
An international sensation, Shark Tank AUS features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Tank from our Sharks, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.

  • I don't agree on this "disincentive" BS. Sure, if she doesn't help him grow his business, she gets an extra 10% equity, but $80k returned in 24 months, on a business that's already making $90k profit PRE-SHARK TANK, makes the $80k in 2 years a no-brainer, and the 25% could very well be worth more, with her extra boost, than 35% if she were to slack off purposely. The proposal for more equity, should the business not be able to return the initial $80k investment is insurance for the investment. More equity in a failing business is shit compared to less equity in a thriving one.

    @rousseau327@rousseau3274 жыл бұрын
    • Nahhh, wat she said made sense. I think he should’ve said it the other way around 25 percent to start and if she makes good on her word in a yr he wil give her 40 percent of the company

      @maxlin2800@maxlin28004 жыл бұрын
    • If she owns 25% of the business wouldn't the business need to earn 320k in order to make back her investment? He's currently making 90k so he would need around 3 to 4 times as much profit to pay her back. Even a two year time period might not be long enough for him to pay it back unless he sees expotential growth. If she slacks off pretty sure she can get that 10% pretty easy given hes spending about 170k on marketing. I mean what difference will it make if he was given 80k? The real value here is the shark and the show. I agree he shouldn't have taken the money but I'm not sure if I agree with your point.

    • @@maxlin2800 That's definitely one way to look at it: if you do well, we'll give you more equity. Not saying your way is wrong or anything, but my point is, giving her extra equity in the event that they are not able to pay her back is not a disincentive, it's insurance. Let's be honest, businesses don't always go the way we want to right away, and just because they aren't able to pay her back in 2 years doesn't mean they failed, it just means they grew slow than they'd like. An additional 10% is definitely insurance, and not a disincentive.
