  • UKIP still has a place and a vital role. 66% of the votes UKIP lost went to the Tories, if they fail on Brexit that vote will come straight back to UKIP. We will see exactly what Brexit has been delivered by the next election. Gerard Batten has been an excellent leader and the poor showing at these locals has not been down to him. I hope he continues as leader and takes UKIP into the next general election.

  • So many people including myself have lent my vote to the Tories as we need to push Brexit over the line! There was no UKIP candidate anyway so not voting may have given an open door to Labour or the LIB Dems and giving them impetus in trying to derail Brexit. Post Brexit, UKIP will be on the rise again as the party of the working people while supporting business and wanting a strong economy. Thanks to all UKIP supporters and Gerrard for taking the helm and steering us in the right direction.

I love the Brussels Broadcasting Channel's little advocates all licking their lips and gloating in the UKIP loss of seats though trying to convince everyone they're a fad that's passed. How unbiased.

  • Gerard Batten is a good leader . He talks a lot of sense , is 100% patriotic and knows Exactly what this country needs. We need UKIP more than ever if you want to get back your sovereignty and make you own laws again, controls your borders and reduce this mass invasion that has not been addressed for years, and so long as conservative or Labour are in government it never will .

    @jeffbrewster6658@jeffbrewster66586 жыл бұрын
  • I don't know much about Gérard, but from what I'm seeing from he has the potential to really stabilise and evolve UKIP. Very interesting and I think the majority of the public with much sense see the pros but also the CONS with both labour and the conservatives, at the very least under both parties current leadership. Whule I like some of what corbyn says, ultimately too much worries me with him when it comes to being strong when necessary, some of his contradictory seeming claims and actions from his party especially concerning the majority of their social stances,particularly racism and onckusivity which they only seem to apply as suits them, not how either of those things work. Under the supposedly Conservative parties government, we have seen astronomical increases in weakening the police, the army, small and more independent businesses, an Orwellian like attempt to police free speech, thought and the manipulation of media as well a terrifying and thoughtless push for immigration that's led to a chaotic state of affairs and allowed many countries to simply offload the undeaeriables types onto another country to lessen the evil they are causing their. Let's hope Gérard is as he seems, becasue the UK desperately need someone who like either extreme we'd see under corbyn or our current prime minister whojustvkinda swooped in on the position like perhaps, a greedy vulture might a fresh carcass.

  • UKIPs vote share is holding up and we know from when UKIP won the EU elections, that people are happy to vote for them. They just need to field more candidates and realise that old labour will come to them if they can tailor their policies to match. ie. If UKIP pushed for re-nationalising vital infrastructure companies, water, electric, gas etc... then that alone would bring many of those Labour Brexiteers over to their cause. UKIP needs to get the balance between attracting Tory and Labour voters. In the past they've pushed old fashioned tory policies, that won't be enough to push on.

  • At the last election the group that I was talking to, (a pretty good cross section,) were clamoring to vote for UKIP because we were being screwed over by both parties & a third would have been grabbed with both hands, but everyone was disappointed to find that there was no ukip on the voting cards ! You really do need to pull out all the stops to get back up there, ask for volunteers, the people will help you if you ask them to, we need a third option. Nigel Farage leaving like he did was unforgivable & totally selfish, but it doesn't have to mark the end of Ukip, we need an alternative to the lose lose pair that are up there now !

  • These local election results show that the public do not see UKIP as a viable option anymore, at least for councils, and I have to say I agree. It was pretty much a one man party anyway, and since Nigel's departure and Henry Bolton's incompetence they've lost nearly all credibility. There's less than a year to go until we officially leave the EU and we've already had a general election, so I think UKIP should be concentrating on making sure the government does it properly.

  • Mr BATTEN: Please, please, please put the interests of the British electorate before those of UKIP. The entire electorate desperately needs a strong 'BREXIT' (and other issues!) alternative to our present Westminster Class; and that alternative is no longer able to be from UKIP. We need a Party which is utterly devoted to the British people; and is without any taint of corruption. That cannot be provided by UKIP, alone. We need a Party which will address the gross failures in our Public Services and the NHS, our Immigration Policy, our Policing, our Courts, and our vote to leave the anti-democratic EU. WE NEED 'FOR BRITAIN': but FOR BRITAIN needs the likes of you, Mr Batten.

  • After the vote to leave, UKIP had the momentum to further develop and fully establish itself as a serious force to be reckoned with. Like the Icelandic Independence party which remained a relevant power after independence from Denmark in 1944 and today are the party in Government. Farage should have remained leader longer to stabilize the party and give the leadership to Steven Woolfe. Remember, after our vote to leave UKIP won several council by elections. I think Farage's departure was too early. Steven could have started where Nigel left off. With Woolfe as leader, UKIP would have had the time to organize and prepare for future elections, instead the party bickered and fought amongst itself. With Woolfe gone, Paul Nuttal could have been a great leader but he never had the opportunity to establish himself as a leader with immediate local elections, by elections, lefty accusations and a general election. Then we got Bolton, almost the final nail in the coffin for UKIP.

  • Batten needs to show some leadership or UKIP is finished. Since he became leader 2 months ago I've heard very little from him, & this is worryingly like what happened to Nuttall - an increasing silence and lack of command. Being exclusively about the eu post referendum (which it increasingly appears is his only idea) & intermittently muttering about Mohammedanism does not constitute a domestic political party. He had 2 months to try to save these last UKIP councillors (it was obvious what was going to happen to them if he didn't) by seizing the media narrative with dynamic radical statements, & he did nothing, & they've all been wiped out. The key ground for UKIP to attack the Liblabcon upon is foreign immigration, but it's increasingly clear that Batten doesn't support that position, & is now advocating an immigration policy almost identical to the Tories - which is for mass foreign migration to essentially continue. I supported Batten becoming leader as far back as Nuttall's candidacy for the job (for want of any other viable candidates), but this isn't shaping up too well now. UKIP may need another captain, this fella increasingly appears like a cricket nightwatchman, just waiting for his MEP's pension salary to kick in so he can toddle off into retirement, taking UKIP with him.

    @Horizon344@Horizon3446 жыл бұрын
    • kcirdrab Not really fair to blame Batten for a lack of airplay. The establishment media gatekeepers keep UKIP off the air unless they've got some story to grill them with. They're never going to give him a platform to lay out his case in a positive light the way the Tories and Labour are allowed to do.

      @brickmissing8295@brickmissing82956 жыл бұрын
    • You make your own media platform as Farage did, & as Hamilton did recently with his defence of Enoch Powell against the brickbats from the MSM & Liblabcon. Batten's had 20 years of proximity - well paid proximity as an MEP - to them to learn this stuff. He's not doing it, & his social media platforms are virtually empty too - who's stopping him using that? You're making excuses for him.
