Basra, Iraq ➖ They say Iraqi hospitality is the best in the world, and I'm experiencing it first hand here in Basra. I decided to get a quick shave to bring back the babyface, it soon turned into a face mask and massage. But what amazed me most was that these friendly barbers refused to accept any form of payment, no matter how hard I tried. Another example of the amazing hospitality here in Iraq!

Luke, please post the shop's location so we can support their business. Is it a religious reason or just because they want to be hospitable to guests in their country? I just wonder where the selflessness comes from because it’s extremely admirable.

    • @@haediralmosawi7151 the world needs more of this type of kindness. Culturally, people in western worlds have much more and cling to it as if someone will take it away if they’re not careful. Not everyone, you can find kindness everywhere but it isn’t as instinctual as I’ve seen in travel videos of the Middle East. We’re all brothers, this is the truth.

      @KnicknackCottonWolf@KnicknackCottonWolf2 жыл бұрын
    • It's not religious because he's not in need. It's cultural, you have to be as hospitable as you possibly can to your guests, and as a tourist he is like a guest (of course guests get better treatment when in somebody's house but you get the idea).

    • Except Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, UAE. Travel to any country that is a popular destination for tourism, regardless of religion, and you will be scammed and overcharged. But when you travel to a country with little tourism, then you will be honored and treated with kindness, because the natives are surprised and enjoy interacting with someone different.
