  • I really really really like this driver drill guys.....This was the main thing I did for YEARS that make driving the best part of the game! Maybe I should have done some more chipping and putting back then but oh well :) hope you enjoy and this serves you well!

    • I am a 2 handicap. Driver has always been my inconsistency. Distance has never been an issue but when I get out of sync I have no idea where it is going. I have worked with some great instructors over the years. I understand the swing well. But this was the best video, simplified instruction & swing thoughts that I have ever seen or heard for a driver!!

I started golf 4 years ago and I have never find a cure to my slice. I think now I have understand how to swing it. Thank you Eric, really appreciate it. • Watched this drill last night, took it to the range this morning and my goodness. I overdrew a few but not a single slice. Gained yards and accuracy without having to swing any harder at all. Fantastic drill, thanks Eric. There are plenty of good coaches on youtube but you're one of the few great ones.

  • last week I committed to this drill / sequence. I'm a 12 HC and just getting going for this season. I have to say my drives have never been better or more consistent. My irons are already pretty decent, but my driver was very inconsistent. Some good days - mostly bad - always chasing a new change. Some days I could drive it 260 but most days 200-220 with an annoying OTT side spin. This sequence of drills - the combination of rolling the arms to release / close the face and the calmness and tempo it's creates for me is nothing short of a miracle. The worst miss now - after doing this at the range 4 times - is either a draw hook or a pretty minor fade. At half my shots are high straight flights with 5-10 yard draws and 250 yards. I'm not even swinging hard - yet. Like 93-95 mph. So I know there is more there to go after. But I'm going to be patient and get this ingrained on the course. One thing I have noticed though is that a good number of my shots that are not straight can be pulls. They are long because I'm closing the face. I can correct by closing my stance more but that may not translate to playing on the course....any thoughts there? Ball position adjustment maybe - or weaker grip? thanks for this great lesson. It made me excited about driver.

  • Just watched this video for the first time the other day, played golf yesterday and tried to put this into action. It was shocking how good, how consistent I was immediately driving the ball! I had ZERO range time to practice beforehand. Great results were instantaneous! I’ve watched tons of driver videos over the years and none of them, NOT ONE, can beat the effectiveness of this one! Can’t thank you enough! Amazing results!

  • Alex. Congratulations. You are now 2 for 2. I did the right foot back yesterday. Started to stripe my irons so solid and extremely straight. Same results today. I put this video into my range practice today. The driver swing immediately improved dramatically. Gained 20+ yards. Solid contact. The few i hit poorly were due to NOT keeping right shoulder down and not moving forward. Thus, you are 2 for 2. Thank you so much

  • This explanation is very clear. I also put the alignment stick just 4" or so over the top of the ball. So I have to come in low to avoid hitting it. However, since I am left hand dominant I really have to "push" with my right hand to avoid pulling or hooking. This has been my struggle for years. (Someday I hope to find an instructor who is left handed but plays right. The ones who aren't don't understand how this left/right conflict holds us back).

Would be nice to hear in more detail how one can get rid of a strong hook - personally a slice might be preferred over a hook (not a draw) as that has a uncontrollable mind of it's own making tee shots a scary part of the game. Happy Easter all.

  • I was a high/far/overdraw and tried dialing my release back a few years ago. This year a starting trying to release the clubhead again (like in this video) and got 20 yards back. You have to release the clubhead to maximize distance.

  • My bad miss with driver is the pull hook. I think the key to avoid this is the body movement through the ball. If you do all of what you are recommending, but the body stalls through impact = hard left. I concentrate on getting the torso moving toward the target.

  • This is crazy and I’ll explain why. I’m new to golf, less than 8 months playing. I started out hitting the ball about 230-240 yards carry on good shots. Then I started to shank the ball bad. 3 weeks ago on the tee box I would take practice swings with just lead arm holding the club doing the exact thing your talking about. I was really just looking for a good area to setup on and put my tee in the ground. Looking for flat sections for my feet. Long story short once I started doing the 3 practice swings with my left hand and really focusing on closing the clubface on those swings, I started crushing the ball. It helped me hit my first and longest drive ever of 315 yards!!! Now I’m consistently driving the ball 270 yards. Mind you I’m still scoring in mid to low 90’s with a best of 88 😁😁. I see 75’s in my near future but my goal is to score a 79 or better before late August which will be my first year of playing golf.

  • Follow-up - I just tried this in a PGA Tour Superstore Trackman Bay that I rented for 1 hour. Before today's experiment, I didn't ever hit my Driver. Whenever I tried, I hit thin, weak, pull-hooks that didn't get airborn and went maybe 60-80 yards. After a little practice, I was able to hit right to left draws that started right of my target line. I had a 19y-25y curve L. My average carry was 169 and my total distance "jumped" to a range between 210- 245. I think I was able to land half of the drives in the fairway and the other half were split between 2 of the aforementioned weak pulls and the rest of the half were dead straight pushes into the right rough. With a little more practice, I'll be hitting the fairways 7/10 times. I'm 61 years old and don't hit the ball far, so, being able to hit Driver or Fairway Wood off the Par 4 and 5 tees is going to be inportant to bring my WHS Handicap Index down. Thanks Eric!!!

  • Hi Eric - very good lesson, think I can hit my Putter further than my Driver at the mo’ 😁 Never a good Driver of the ball but was getting 240-260 yards with slight draw. Now absolutely awful, put foot spray on over the range everything heel side 😩 Irons are not too bad……anyway, I have lesson on Thursday here in London concentrating purely on Driver. Your tips are really helpful thanks, and see what my coach comes up with - on the plus side, can’t get any worse ! All the best, Ken

  • Great Drill. But I’m the 1% that swings from inside out and over draws or hooks the ball. But I might be moving my head and shoulders. I think the other important thing to mention is to keep your back towards the target as long as possible so that your arms can drop down into the slot. Which you are doing. And is all about timing as well. Gonna put this into my pre shot routine.

  • Eric. I have been practicing with the drill. I still have a few flaws ... a little cut and a little high. I am certain it is my trail shoulder moving forward ... and combined with my decades of poor technique. Here is my question ... can I use this for my irons? I tried it and ball/turf contact was really good. It also feels it takes my VERY dominant right hand out of swing. If you recommend not using this with irons, can you point me to a couple of videos? Thanks. You channel is really good

  • If I am that guy who tends to overdraw/hook (I am), along with maybe being less aggressive on letting the toe rotate closed, how about being a little less aggressive on the inside to out path? Would that also help to control the hook? I think the piece I am really missing though is keeping my head behind the ball.

    @bobp.6337@bobp.6337Ай бұрын
    • Hey Bob! 100% yes on both You would feel LESS of the face rotation and LESS of the path in to out If they are drastic enough (face too closed and path way too in to out) you may likely even need to feel the OPPOSITES of this to find middle (feel like you PREVENT the face from closing through impact and like your path is more OUT TO IN)

  • I wouldn’t call it pin point, but nothing ever is. I would recommend thinking dip the rear hip not the rear shoulder. Too much torso side bend to the rear side through contact is going to open the club face but shifting your head forward, which is what he associates with keeping the shoulder high will throw off your contact. Low hip, stay long, rotate through using the rear foot and driving the front foot down. The inside out is stellar, counterintuitive thought process that will break you out of that right spin.
