I absolutely love iguana's, worked with them for years with my education projects, BUT you have to remember that in places like Florida they're so invasive and have to be culled to protect the environment. If people would stop releasing unwanted pets then we wouldn't have these problems. I don't think I could eat one personally, but I must admit that looked delicious
@Pagliacci while that story might be true, people releasing animals are part of the problem as well. Same thing goes for all the invasive fish species. Lion fish, Oscar fish, Mayan cichlids, clown knife, etc. All of those fish species were released by idiotic people into the lakes, ponds and ocean.
@Ralph Harrison no that's you
@@iAmLegend22GS i can understand that certain animals can drastically change an ecosystem on earth but how bad could fish be....i mean those which you named of course.
I literally just thought of this less than 30 mins ago and I wasn't even on animal videos.. 🤷🏾♀️
There are plenty of invasive species, but we don't gotta eat them like what?
What a beautiful little assistant you have dear Robert ... Good for you. May God Bless you with some more amazing adventures.

African Berry: Synsepalum dulcificum is a plant in the Sapotaceae family known for its berry that, when eaten, causes sour foods (such as lemons and limes) subsequently consumed to taste sweet. This effect is due to miraculin. Common names for this species and its berry include miracle fruit, miracle berry, miraculous berry, sweet berry, and in West Africa, where the species originates, agbayun, taami, asaa, and ledidi. The berry itself has a low sugar content and a mildly sweet tang. It contains a glycoprotein molecule, with some trailing carbohydrate chains, called miraculin. When the fleshy part of the fruit is eaten, this molecule binds to the tongue's taste buds, causing sour foods to taste sweet. At neutral pH, miraculin binds and blocks the receptors, but at low pH (resulting from ingestion of sour foods) miraculin binds proteins and becomes able to activate the sweet receptors, resulting in the perception of sweet taste. This effect lasts until the protein is washed away by saliva (up to about 30 minutes).
thanks I dont have google

@@deermeatfordinner I like iguana it's pretty good I have a funny story about how we got the one I tried so we were coming home from home depot and my grandpa was driving he said that he wanted to try iguana so I said I would get him one and we were almost home and you go down a long road it's like 400 yards and in the middle there is a s curve and we stopped cuz one was in the road then all the sudden he floors it and we hear thud, thud then he slammed on the brakes he got it right on the head surprisingly enough so we took it home and ate it I liked it alot but that was his way of hunting iguanas 🤣🤣

you are a real cook, enjoy your videos. I am a 88 year old Italian lady good watching.bless you and your family.
Amazing channel! I enjoyed the rawness of it. Try a curry recipe with coconut milk, it's pretty good with chicken and I think it would be great with lizard meat as well. From where I'm originally from (Palawan, Philippines), monitor lizards, which are like a smaller version of komodo dragon, are pests and I think I've had it when I was just a kid. Coconut milk and curry are also great with crocodile meat. Just gotta make sure the meat is tender nd seasoned well.
You're a magician if you can make me hungry with an iguana.
Iguana tastes like Turkey.👍😎😎😎

@@stevemeek1994 They're different from Goji and just called Miracle fruit. Synsepalum dulcificum
Hunting and cooking iguana reminds me of the time my uncle I, hunted and cooked monitor lizards. Taste just like chicken. IMO, the best way to cook them is adobo style. People who don't eat exotic animals, don't know what they're missing. Can't wait for the next video.
yeah... most reptiles can taste good adobo style haha

I am grateful to have your “humor” in life now. Finally, watched another one. Last one was years ago, cooking coconut crabs. You are a good man, your wife is too nice, she puts up with you and you all love the Lord. God bless you, each.
Mr. Robert you make me wish that I live in Florida I love and respect you and family!!!!! God bless you all!!!!
That iguana curry is a very innovative recipe. I assume it's your own recipe since it's very different. The roux is a substitute for coconut cream. Seems like a Southern thing to me. I expect your dish would be unaccountably delicious, but personally, I'd still use coconut cream instead of roux. And BTW, you don't have to worry about 'burning' your roux so much. There is a 'roux blonde' which you were creating and which is used for 'sauce bechamel' (or classic white sauce), a 'roux brun' which has a deeper flavor and would be used for something like chicken pot pie, and there is a roux noir, or back roux, which is used in gumbo (to great effect, I might add...black roux tastes GOOOOOD!). The color (tan, brown, or black) depends on how long (and patiently) you cook the roux. The longer you cook it (without burning it) the nuttier and deeper the flavor becomes. Still...I think the roux is a good substitute if you don't have coconut cream/milk on hand, though not my preference. But...iguana gumbo. Well, that might be the next thing.
Being from Izabal Guatemala, where we used to hunt and eat iguanas 🦎 to the point of extinction unfortunately, (thank God the Guatemalan government finally protected the species and they are coming back), I was hoping that you cook them and eat them and not to waste them , and you did! I congratulate you for being a great farmer, hunter and chef! Now Naranja 🍊 Grande lives in you!😁. We also cook them in curry 🍛. We have two types of currying, coconut 🥥 base (iguana en coco) and iguana in alguashte (ground pumping seed gravy). Both are delicious!
Nice comment. Unfortunately he’s not a farmer although he would prolly be amazing at that too lol
i enjoyed your experience you shared.. hello from west texas lol
You know there are different species of iguana, right? Green iguana is the subject of this video - they have never been under threat of extinction anywhere and are invasive in the US.
Im from vietnam, in my place have many recipes to cook like: grill satay, grill normal wirh fire, grill pepper, or fried , curry....
@@anderssanderson4073 Yes I know. The reason that they are abundant in US is because the majority of people don’t eat them, but in other regions is different. I know because I saw it first hand!

Robert, so I have been told about all the pythons that are invading the Everglades. Please do a catch, clean and cook on a monster python
Problem with pythons is they usually are very high in toxins and heavy metals. They're also often riddled with parasites.
Joe Hickey killing them and getting their population down is the best, eating them can come with diseases in some cases. Not worth it
They pay you to catch them and bring them in.
Catch, kill and not cook

A tip on the curry, in Asia we tend to use the roux on any protein and veggies and fry it with it as that brings out more flavor. So next time, make the roux first. And also never had butternut squash and don't think I want it in my curry, sub carrots instead. :)
