The noise you hear is the LED switching. It is coming through the pickup. Shielding the controls would help but you may never get it out. You would probably have to have LEDs that are constanty on instead of being pulsed.
@wayahedia99892 жыл бұрын
Exactly. The LED power supply is likely super noisy. You'd have to redesign it to not induce noise, but this is an AMAZING looking build that would be talked about any time you played it in public.
@johnward57262 жыл бұрын
@@johnward5726 It is crazy cool! I want one. I think the only way to have it quiet is NOT to pulse the LEDs which would eat batteries like I eat donuts.

@@johnward5726 Yes, even if you shield the power supply, any LED that is not fully on or off will be switching (pulsing) the harmonics of this will absolutely get picked up by the pickups. Source: I tried to build something like this ... a few times.

@@beardalaxy The leds themselves generate emf. So as long as they're pulsed you will likely have the same problem. And if you're pulsing LEDs and you're running that power in the same cable you're probably going to exacerbate the problem since that will be running next to a low gain audio signal.

i imagine that it may be possible if you incorporate some sort of midi controller. there are many examples of guitarists placing a Kaoss XY Pad in their guitars (Matt Bellamy of muse is notable for doing this). once the input from the pickups is converted to a digital signal, the signal could be used to control a set of LED's. this is complete speculation however.

Word of advice, drill holes out of Acrylic sheets **BEFORE** you cut out the actual shape, it will be sturdier that way and less likely to crack like it did. Also, you can reduce the, well I don't know what you would call it but, the fray-like chips & scratches on the edges of the sheets by masking it off on both sides with painters tape. (I know it has the protective layer on it, but the tape will help protect it even more, and it doesn't take that long to do.) Great video though, it still turned out epic.

This is by far the coolest infinity mirror concept I’ve seen… Custom art that’s not only functional, but added it’s a musical instrument is as badass as it gets. Props!
The noise you hear is the LED switching. It is coming through the pickup. Shielding the controls would help but you may never get it out. You would probably have to have LEDs that are constanty on instead of being pulsed.
Exactly. The LED power supply is likely super noisy. You'd have to redesign it to not induce noise, but this is an AMAZING looking build that would be talked about any time you played it in public.
@@wayahedia9989 you would presumably be plugging in to a power source though, not using batteries. i wouldn't be surprised if there was some way you could power the guitar and the LEDs in the same cable
@@beardalaxy The leds themselves generate emf. So as long as they're pulsed you will likely have the same problem. And if you're pulsing LEDs and you're running that power in the same cable you're probably going to exacerbate the problem since that will be running next to a low gain audio signal.

Me too 🥹
as much as the buzzing is there in the audio, it fits the aesthetic of the guitar so well. this is awesome.
I absolutely love the buzzing actually, it really adds something to the music. Almost like a really low pitched bass, it really made the demo on my opinion.
....that’s deep.... wonder if there’s away to get the LED’s to respond to the pickups? Kind of a synchronized light show
😂
i imagine that it may be possible if you incorporate some sort of midi controller. there are many examples of guitarists placing a Kaoss XY Pad in their guitars (Matt Bellamy of muse is notable for doing this). once the input from the pickups is converted to a digital signal, the signal could be used to control a set of LED's. this is complete speculation however.
Get one of those midi pickups that goes next to your bridge and then convert the signal from midi to DMX and you can do all sorts of crazy shit
theres sound responsive programmable leds, and they're relatively cheap and great quality
There's this neat IC called MSGEQ7 that basically does FFT and you can read the values of 7 bands in the frequency spectrum of your output. Once you have those 7 amplitude values, you can change the colors
The little buzzing sound of the LED gives this a little lofi feeling
Every once in a while I come back to listen to that riff at the end. ❤I love it so much, I wish it was a song by itself on KZhead or Spotify or somewhere else. I'd even love to hear an extended version. Bravo, it's such a beautiful piece. ❤

Also, you can reduce the, well I don't know what you would call it but, the fray-like chips & scratches on the edges of the sheets by masking it off on both sides with painters tape.
