You got to give it to Darren Bent. He knows Mainoo is an incredible young talent but the waffle from Andy is putting him off the kid so much. Nothing crazier then a deluded United fan. Bellingham at same age already had almost 3 seasons under his belt, alrwady gone to the Euro's + played at 17, went to the World Cup at similar age. Mainoo hasnt got a full season yet and is almost 19. Bellingham is 20 now. Bellingham was playing 40+ games at 16. The gaslighting is crazy!!!

Mainoo isn’t irreplaceable that’s bs but what Andy is poorly trying to say is Mainoo is potentially the only player that will be able to control a game. He can’t do it now but should in the future with a good football education.

Man Utd were losing against Liverpool and only turned it around once Mainoo left the pitch. Conceded the losing goal against Brazil when Mainoo entered the pitch. Were losing with Mainoo against Belgium, and only equalised once he was subbed off. Delusional fans! Mid player, they cream themselves simply because he can retain the ball and is 18. Has zero long passing. Keep overhyping him until he turns into another Lingard in a couple of years!

It isn't actually that mad a thing to say when you consider England have been absolutely desperate for this type of player. It sounds mad because it's premature but it's a statement that has a good chance of becoming less ridiculous with every passing game.

United fans are on another level. We've had years of this now. Especially the moment they start picking up a little bit of form (but then falter later into the season as usual). The delusion is crazy. They start saying their team is better than some top teams, their young talent after a few good games is suddenly the best thing right now etc. Its hilarious to see for like the 10th season in a row now. I feel you Andy, but I think England has several ways to shape the 11. I think, yes, Mainoo offers something different on either pitch area. But if he gets injured, there are several ways to patch things up.
Anyone witnessing the performances of Maguire & Dunk in the past few days should be terrified at the prospect of Stones not being available. We're paper thin at centre half. Rice is also way harder to replace than a no.8.

Dunk looked a top CB 2 or 3 seasons ago. But Southgate wouldn't pick him. Preferring Mings and Coady. So it is typical of Southgate that he waits until Dunk is almost 32 and in poor form for Brighton before picking him for England. Can't understand why he didn't give Branthwaite some minutes. Why bother putting him in the squad if you are not going to give him some game time.
So tired of people bringing their biases into England discussions. After hearing the punditry going into this tournament, I'm starting to think our pundits are a bit...special. This kind of thing is why the rest of the world hate us so much.

I agree, Bellingham is a goal scoring 8 . Foden is more effective as a 10 or free role rather than at the wing

Bellingham gamesmanship on Batshuayi was brilliant: gets him booked for delaying the free kick, Belgium momentarily destabilised, then he shows up unmarked in the box for the goal. The guy is priceless.

if we are to measure the gap of quality between the 1st choice and the 2nd choice in that same position. And for that I say Luke Shaw is the most important player atm, because the 2nd choice is abysmal in comparison. There is also bit of a gap between Bellingham vs Maddison or Mainoo vs Gallagher

I was eager to see Mainoo + Cole Palmer play together. Alongside Bellingham and Foden, it feels like that would have been a killer combination. Southgate needed to really play everyone in those two games.
Palmer was injured. Branthwaite didn't play on his first call-up just like Konsa didn't.

I believe Mainoo should definitely be on the plane. However I differ on whether he starts. For the quality that Southgate has to choose from, we should be playing 4-3-3. The midfield 3 in my opinion would be Foden; Rice; Bellingham. Whereas the attacking 3 would be Grealish; Kane; Saka. Southgate needs to play on the front foot, and not be preoccupied with the opposition. The purpose of having a squad of 26 is that it will afford you options. It shouldn't imply that you pick players solely to play one formation, his preferred 4-2-3-1, and their ability to slot in. Southgate should be looking at the tactical formations, and who could be the best option for a multiple of choices. We're screwed at the back, in that he will partner Stones with Maguire. This in my opinion is why he will opt for 2 defensive first players in midfield. To provide cover for the defensive pair who lack pace.
I know we live in this short term memory social media era but cast your mind back to 2015 and there was similar hype from red media regarding Marcus Rashford when he was 18 after he scored a few against Arsenal on his debut..... still haven't learned our lesson from hyping English players up to levels that they won't achieve.

I think I know what he was trying to say although I'd expect someone who talks for a living to slightly more coherent. I think he meant he is different to Philips and Henderson. But Kane and Bellingham are more important. Watkins isn't a good enough finisher to replace Kane and in big games with few chances we need a striker who can take that one big chance. I'd also say Rice, Walker and Stones are more important. Plus as it stands we appear to have one left back so you could even say Chilwell is more important. Mainoo is class and there is no doubt in my mind he'll play nearly 100 games for England and I would take him to the Euros but to say he's the most important player is ridiculous

he is one of their most important look at first goal it was creativity only he has from back end defending to going forward it was a turn no other even belllingham makes and it was two seconds and two passes and toney was in hes only player who can provide that. Bellingham can play forward tooa nd foden can play left wing, kane in middle and saka on rw he just provides more creativity and threat than by far any other lineup and its how comfortabe he allows rice and how forward and threatening he allows bellingham. Theres a little bit of seedorf and a little bit even more sacrilege pirlo. Look at energy and synergy he had with foden, bellingham, toney he had interplay with and most of rice they alllove him and cant wait to get him ball as only good things happen and rice has not had that with anyone else. Bellingham can do anything but his ability in box is so unique in air for goal or pass hes so athletic or with either foot. Foden likes to drift inside it all works with mainoo and his ability to break lines with dribble or passes anyone who watches and knows what to look for knows he has and entirely unique skillset in squad. He likes to get in traffic so he can beat men hes so composed and hes so strong on the ball like seedorf. Its not coachable he allows and welcomes traffic and defenders because he uses their ace against them through composure. Pirlo was such a once in lifetime genius because he wasnt bigger, faster, stronger although strong on ball he was just better and smarter and more composed. I completely agree with him. If he was FRances midfield for anyone who watches france they would win tournament going away. France has defense and attck in spades but nobody who can stay composed in traffic and link defense and and attack. He also defends and has a composed shot. Defense is issue and specific how they hold up against counter

Kobbie is very close to world class at 18 years. Kobbie and JB must start. Every Euro side will flap…..especially if TAA starts on the right midfield. Whether you play Kane, or IT at the front…….it’s win, win.
Dunks mistake was bad...but a bit unlucky. Sliding on wet ground when trying to connect with the ball...actually got back up to get in a position to defend the cross...which was a great cross....and theres 1 Belgium player v 3 English in the box...nothing said about them! Maguire made a worse mistake against brazil but got away with it, so that mistake isnt mentioned...and that happens a lot!
