  • As French, we have been at the bottom of the hole for 15 years (since 2007, the World Cup final in 2011 was just an anomaly in this hell) and I believe (and I hope) that the majority of French do not want that to no one. There is no doubt that England will come back up...we just have to enjoy it while we can...

  • 1. Not even Jonny Wilkinson or Dan Carter could have secured a win for England. 2. Game lost at scrum. The perpetual issue is that the current crop of props, hookers and backrow are not matching up to France, South Africa or Ireland. 3. To get the players England needs, promotion and relegation must be introduced into the prem. 4. This France team did not peak out of nowhere. There's been a nearly 100% transition from the French under 20 World Cup winning team into the senior side. The improvement is not drastic or miraculous. It was planned. 5. Eddie Jones was part of the problem not the entire problem. The problems with English rugby are systemic. Not even Razor or Borthwick etc can resolve everything.

  • I love the passion of the French fans and the fact that all of them are dressed up in colourful outfits. English fans at Twickenham are lacking any passion at all. Even if you do get thumped, that doesn't mean you can't have a great day out, like that kid dressed as St George. I watched it in the local pub and my friends suggested leaving early to go somewhere else as they didn't want to watch the last 10 minutes, I refused! English fans have got to learn about dedication and commitment! Loads of them leaving early is just a disgrace! Support your team, no matter the result, keeping that faith through the dark times and showing the boys that you're still behind them will pay off in the future. Twickenham needs to be made into a terrifying fortress of noise, colour and passion! Currently it's pricing itself out of becoming that! That's the best 80 minutes of Rugby I have ever seen from France, they physically dominated from start to finish, amazing change in the culture of the players. For England, I say forget about the world cup and look to the next one in 2027.

Little worrying from an Ireland GS perspective, the England players will take out their frustration and try to smash Ireland with our already decimated team. Ultimately I believe Ireland will be able to withstand the onslough and have the belief to get a win.

If they can fix the basics, first time tackles, minimize basic errors, good scrumming and mauling, decent ruck speed and keep to the basics, it will be something to build on. We need to stop thinking playing well in a declining premiership .. where defence is optimal at best, suddenly = they are a test match player. It’s not the case. A lot of people found wanting today.

    • @@Alex-mj5dv I agree England were second best all day but I was talking about the tactics. You should only kick for goal when it’s a tightly contested game and every point matters, or when you have established a lead and you want to build on it or manage the clock. When you are 17-0 down against a side who are capable of putting point after point on you, you should always go for tries, to kick for goal in that situation was mind boggling and the fact twickenham cheered is embarrassing.

  • This defeat could actually be really beneficial for England to wipe the slate clean, rebuild and come back stronger. France had a very similar experience when they were smashed by England at Twickenham in 2019. Team looked in total disarray before the RWC but almost changed the squad overnight with the likes of Dupont, Ntamack, Ramos, Ollivon, Alldritt and should have made the semis in Japan. For England, expectation will be very low, morale crushed, but it's as good an opportunity to have a proper clean out and get a new crop in. The only concern for them now is whether the new crop from the Premiership are up to the standard they think they are!

But the French must not believe they are now the best. At first because they will lose the VI nations next week. And also because, during the world cup, it will not be a fight just against Ireland but also against NZ, South Africa and Australia. If they are too confident, maybe they won't even make it to the semis.

But all England seemed to do was to kick possession away. England should build a game where you keep the ball in hand. To do that you will need to improve immensely your technical passing skills and work at the breakdown

This isn't the early 1990's anymore, there is no hate between French and English rugby. Only respect. These French morons seem to forget that England regularly thrashed us not too long ago, so it would be good if they showed a little class and humility. Yes it was a great win but England currently have an average/weak generation. So as the French saying goes : "Winning without peril is winning without glory". England I'm sure will be back with a vengeance.

  • France played beautifully, and England was very disappointing, in many aspects of the game. Today Ireland, France, NZL and SA are the best teams in the world, and there is a gap between them and the rest of Tier 1 rugby. I still think England will bounce back from that, and the WC will probably end honorably against a stronger team in the quarters of the WC. Out of pride, I can see them having a decent performance against Ireland in Dublin this week-end, though there is no way I can see them winning there (Ireland is too solid). English fans, don't lose hope. For better or for worse, things change very quickly in top-level sports.
