Thank you teachers!
River otters are skilled swimmers, but they have to be taught just like humans do. Tilly is an excellent teacher who has taught many pups in the river otter family to swim and play in the water. Happy Teachers Day!

    • Right into the deep end you go! My brother tossed me across the pool and into the deep end which solidified my knowledge of swimming. I was around 5, I think? Great times, learned how to dead man float, I could probably sleep on my back in a pool for hours without intervention.

  • Awesome footage, AWESOME MUMMA AND BUBS SWIMMING! Thank you so much for sharing! I live in Perth Western Australia, and sadly we don’t have the privilege of seeing any Otters Down Under! All Otters are truly MAGNIFICENT CREATURES! 🦦💕🦦💕🦦💕🦦🐾

  • And done, the kids went in the water themselves in the end. That was a perfect shot.

  • I applauded Tilly's persistence! Not to give her and her pup real human motives, but my own Mother was about this subtle when I balked at anything that was good for me. Bless the Moms who keep pushing their kids and pups!!❤

  • The Otter Mom knew exactly how to teach the reluctant and a bit scared pup how to swim without hurting or drowning. Mom showed so much love and intelligence. This video is amazing! John 3:16, Ephesians 2:8-10 :o) Kent Wilbourne, Ogden, Utah, 4/7/22, 11:45 a.m..

  • I especially like the backward pull out of the water by the tail of the half drowned baby otter! I watch Aty and Ui -Asian Small Clawed Otters- on KZhead & Aty has taught a lot of adult otters to swim. He didn't clamp on their heads with really sharp teeth, though - did you know they have really sharp teeth? They do! Extremely sharp teeth! So the baby otter really did not have a choice here! One struggling movement & their skin would have been pierced by Mama's teeth...I'm not lying; that's exactly what would have happened. I'm sure she was a gentle as possible, but there's only so much you can do with really sharp teeth. But they sure picked it up quick didn't they? If it's a question of "Hey she's going to continue clamping my head & dragging me out of the water backwards by my tail, or swimming, I guess I'd learn to swim pretty quick too! God bless all otters & the extended family- ferrets, stoats, minks, weasels, badgers & of course sea otters , etc... They certainly have had a horrible time with covid-19 & climate change! I very much wish they could roam free on the world's rivers... 💦🦦💦🦫💕🦡🏞️🦦...

    • Some still are. if we can just ensure their habitats remain, or are restored, are unpolluted, & they are unmolested by us & our domestic animals, machines, etc., I think more of us would see the few that live free. where I live in Nova Scotia, I know a bunch of river otters has been coming thru at times. I've not yet seen them, but friends have. But...for how long, unless more of us clean up our act!

Or is He out hunting? Where's the nice big ☂️ Umbrella and Beach Towels with Puppy Pina Coladas and Treats waiting their return .?.
