  • Such an interesting little ship you're building.

  • I know this was 5 months ago, but if you use thrust overrides in your hot bar for exiting the planet its the best use of hydrogen. thrust just enough to accelerate, then back it off until you hit the min amount needed as you ascend. You also don't need to pulse and fight your top thruster when doing this.

    @PB8man@PB8man Жыл бұрын
    • With inertial dampeners off you don't fight the top thruster. I've tried the thruster override method and found that it is basically the same (fuel efficiency and speed wise) to pulsing the thrusters manually. It's a good option, and from the comments on my videos it seems a lot of people prefer it, but I've never gotten into it.

    • Thanks :D I'm really happy with it too, aside from that blasted ladder. It's slow, and dysfunctional without gravity. I'm sure I'll be flying up and down the med pit for the rest of the playthrough. Hahaha. Maybe I'll give in and make an elevator eventually.

    • oh right.... was wondering if you were going to add a hydro and oxy tank and a hydro engine to main hub?

      @impishimp5820@impishimp5820 Жыл бұрын
    • Thanks! I do add an oxygen tank (need it for the cryo) it just slipped my mind. I don't end up adding hydrogen tanks but I put a engine on there which can run off its internal tank to start then straight from the H2/O2 generator. The hub will probably never detach from the power module so it's just a backup, but worth having.

  • Imagine the majority of your PCU coming from armor blocks... Possible gameplay compromise: You can only build a large grid rotor/head so you can stick existing large grid blocks on your small grid, but you will have to steal them? And assemblers/refineries would have limited use because a normal rotor has no conveyor access.

    @Stoney3K@Stoney3K Жыл бұрын
    • Hahaha. Yeah, armor blocks are about 1/3 of my pcu. Which is crazy high.

      @ShiftyshadowTV@ShiftyshadowTV Жыл бұрын
  • I can't remember what the small grid welders are like, nor what they take. But perhaps a small welding ship could be in order to make welding up the modules easier

    @mastere6115@mastere6115 Жыл бұрын
    • I think one would be nice for welding the shell. All the interior would still have to be hand welded either way, just because of the way I design/build in survival. (I tend to place A LOT of blocks before I weld anything.) A welding ship would probably be worth it in space though.

  • Can you share inertia tensor on a public vanilla server? (not sure what exists outside buildvision) Also at the point I'm at in the video I really hope the rotors and hinges for the solar has limits =)

    @yle5788@yle57882 ай бұрын
    • Inertial tensor definitely exists outside buildvision. It's tricky for mobile builds though. Sometimes it makes it better, sometime it stops the whole grid from rotating quickly (which could be fatal for a rover flying off a hill).

  • I used connectors as well as merge blocks on mine so that the modules would connect seamlessly with full airtightness between all modules

    @Martingray7875@Martingray7875 Жыл бұрын
    • This one is fully airtight as well. Merge blocks above, connectors below (on the three top ports).

  • Just outa curiosity whats the timer block for, also it mighta said high o2 because of your helmet being closed

    @cheezyst3v3@cheezyst3v3 Жыл бұрын
    • 33:35 I fly out a little into space and it stops saying "high O2", so it can't be my helmet. I thought of that one too XD. The timer block is on a loop where it turns my survival kit on and restarts itself every 90 seconds. The server has forced respawn, so this let's me get around it. I can turn my kit off, respawn elsewhere, and my kit will be turned back on automatically so I can get back.

  • Isn't the air problem the doors? You already did a video on those doors in the past, and you haven't covered that side that vents on any of them that open to space/atmo.

    @alexander.rob.s@alexander.rob.s Жыл бұрын
    • The doors are a separate problem. The outside of the doors where it doesn't become airtight is covered so it's taken care of.

  • are you going to add an O2 tank so you can take o2 from the planet up instead of having to rely on ice for o2?

    @JonSchlueter@JonSchlueter Жыл бұрын
    • I'm gonna add one for sure, it skipped my mind. I need it for surviving in cryo as well.

  • I like your idea. I've made one myself but I made a remote control space shuttle to take my modules to space and position and connect them while I'm sitting in a control station on the other side of the earth.....had to deploy satellites first though to chain the signal from my base to my shuttle

    @Martingray7875@Martingray7875 Жыл бұрын
    • That's pretty cool. I'll have to do some remote stuff at some point in the series.

      @ShiftyshadowTV@ShiftyshadowTV Жыл бұрын
    • @@ShiftyshadowTV I think the remote control block is a godsend. I do everything in space from earth or my space station.....everything from mining to battles to scavenging

      @Martingray7875@Martingray7875 Жыл бұрын
    • @@Martingray7875 That's an interesting way to play. Might make for a cool series, "remote control only". Same for the AI update. It's gonna be great to have tons of new control options for blocks.

      @ShiftyshadowTV@ShiftyshadowTV Жыл бұрын
    • @@ShiftyshadowTV Yea remote control only videos would be awesome. Most people are wary of using them but I like them better than actually having to go places myself. If you do make a video about it just remember to mention satellites because they're essential if you're going to use remote control at long distances. On my game currently I have around 55 satellites spread between earth and moon as well as around moon and earth. I can literally go anywhere around or on the earth and moon via remote control. As far as the satellites go, I make simple satellites consisting of 1 battery, an antenna, and 4 solar panels then use a ship to carry and deploy them

  • You play with pcu on?

    @Martingray7875@Martingray7875 Жыл бұрын
    • Yeah, this playthrough is on a public server set up exactly like the official servers (20k pcu and all). I'm close to capping out, but I'll get a couple people on (and hopefully in the series) who will help out soon. All else fails I'll have to dismantle old stuff I'm not using to build new stuff.

      @ShiftyshadowTV@ShiftyshadowTV Жыл бұрын
    • @@ShiftyshadowTV I've always hated the whole pcu thing. I understand that it's for less capable computers but I always play with it off. Often times, my visions are a lot larger than 20k pcu

      @Martingray7875@Martingray7875 Жыл бұрын
    • @@Martingray7875 Yeah, whenever I play single player, or host a server it's always no PCU limit. I certainly prefer it that way, just thought it would be interesting to do a playthrough on a vanilla style server.
