I don’t personally think the electric vehicles are ready for police use. I can easily drive over 250 miles a day while working. Especially considering the charge time, I just don’t think these are feasible yet
They aren't feasible for anyone lmao, people just act like they are. The only EV's worth even a thought is a Tesla. I just think it says something when most of these agencies are retiring tahoes and explorers after only like 6 years, meanwhile the '06 crown vic is still kicking ass at the neighboring agency.

In the UK they are being used for basic duties. It can’t be used for actual patrols for the same reason. And there is no chance Armed police or roads police would ever use such a vehicle primarily. Can’t beat a diesel

I'm in a large PD and our gas patrol vehicles run almost 24/7. We would need to order 2x the amount of patrol EVs as one would be down while the other is charging. EV's wound be better for surveillance and admin rolls.
Three.
X4. Because of the break downs. Plus the patrolman is always messing them up and crashing them.
Thank you for beating me to that stupidity! Even with small forces, the cars often run 24/7... so explain how an EV would work...
They should make hybrids instead
@@dabiri69 no they should stick to regular gasoline engines. Hybrid wouldn't be able to handle excessive speeds and more importantly curbs.
With departments across the country short handed and LEO’s running call to call, EV vehicles are not great for the job, especially in rural areas

Thanks for hanging out with us, Nick, and allowing us to showoff Argus BWC and Eagle 3. Come see us at IACP!

As a mechanic I suggest not using fully electric vehicles as police. Your chase range will be about 15 miles. Use hybrids if anything.
Chasing should be avoided altogether. It causes more damage than it avoids. But one vehicle doesn't conduct a chase alone.
@@krane15 yeah tell that to the RCMP street racing unit that where I live. I’ve had a bolo put on my car because I was caught drifting. the livestream body camera is gunna be interesting, following these guys via map is one thing but to see what's going on in real time will really give dispatchers the ability to get the ball rolling early on notifications and coordination of other agencies and units without having to rely to much on waiting for appropriate information to come from the officer who is yeeting his car at 100 mph
Exactly what I was thinking, going to be so much help to the dispatchers and officers too.

200 miles of range definitely not while at full speed chasing a criminal consuming far more power. It wouldn't surprise me if the range gets evaporated at high speeds and the 200 mile range claim is for calm driving. not a pursuit
I saw a video of a Tesla chasing a Mustang. It was keeping up very well until it ran out of battery and the officer had to hand off to some gas police cars so he could go find a charger.

So much respect for the work the police officers are doing and keeping us safe. That's a GTT product called Traffic Light Pre-Emption. It's been around for 15+ years. Whelen wants to charge an annual fee for their software so they integrate GTT's solution into their platform. Not really necessary as the GTT system uses on-vehicle transmitters to tell lights to turn green.

a ton of good stuff in here to protect our officers and our public. something that definitely needs to be addressed is public outreach from local PDs and state PDs, trying to build trust with communities instead of just expecting the community to respect them with no effort. another big thing is amending police unions to include updated misconduct clauses so they can no longer protect these officers who have actually done wrong and committed either legal offenses or civil rights infringements against citizens.
