*FACIAL EXPRESSIONS ARE FOR WHEN YOU ARE WITH OTHER PEOPLE* the most relatable most autistic comment ever LOL
I'm not autistic but I relate to it too lol
Hang on a fuckin' sec... I'm supposed to use _facial expressions_ with people?
When she said that I thought it was a very autistic thing to say. I'm glad she can have comedy with being on the spectrum
@@wolf1066 Make sure you use the right ones. I discovered that there are wrong ones.
@@gaslitgames *_NOW_* you tell me?
'Every few seconds a wee voice off-camera would go "Oooh, aye" or, memorably: "TUG ON MAE PUBES, RHONA!"' is now firmly lodged in my heid. Ta, Fern.
The hallmark of great pornography is when you can hear the director giving the performers instructions.
"Be jealous immediately" is a great phrase.
"I don,t need alcohol to be offensive!"... She is great!
When she drops the line about the guy in the audience saying, "Thank god she knows" or whatever it was about being tested for autism I died of laughter because that was exactly what I was thinking leading up to that. My kiddo and I are both autistic and they thought Fern was hilarious when I showed them this.
"Might as well watch them filing a tax return" I laughed way too hard at that 😂
I personally LOVE the Scottish accent and don’t in any way think it sounds anything but beautiful. It does not sound unintelligent, but as someone with a southern US accent, I empathize with this a LOT.
Tip for tourists: Glaswegians sounding gruff and abrasive - You're fine. Glaswegians sounding pally and jolly - RUN!
"ya stupid cunt" - usually a friedly way of addressing a good friend. "Darlin'" - usually a threat 😅
The entire set I was thinking “wonder if she knows about the autism or if I’ll have to wait a few years for that bit.” Imagine my delight lol.
Her book is really good
I feel like people 'know' this about her from something she said elsewhere and are calling her out for no reason here...I am in education and I see absolutely no autism here. What is she doing that qualifies as visibly or noticeably autistic?
@@nikismith3784Thank you
@nikismith3784 Bingo!
@nikismith3784 shes admitted in other sets shes autistic
As an American, I absolutely love the Glaswegian accent. It makes everything sound unintentionally hilarious. I worked with a guy who was from a village outside of Glasgow and when he got pissed off about something and was venting it was so hard not to piss myself laughing every time. I had never heard of Fern before, but I'll definitely be checking out more of her bits.
Another comedian to check out is Limmy. He is from Glasgow, while Fern is from Bathgate, West Lothian. I'm not from Scotland myself, so I don't know how people from Bathgate react if you call their accent "glaswegian". :D
I agree! And it's even funnier when the person speaking with that accent doesn't look like they would have that accent. At least, I wouldn't expect someone looking like Fern to have a heavy Glaswegian accent, lol.
@@MatthewTheWanderer I can't help but think of "Fat Bastard" from the Austin Powers movies 😂
@@LordHorst I looked into her and Scotland in general while watching her and it's only an hour from Glasgow to Edinburgh, so I'd imagine it's the same accent, but I could be wrong. Philadelphia is only about 2 hours from NYC and they are vastly different accents 🤷♂️
Yeah, I get that distances in Europe must seem laughably small for an American. When you drive 5 hours, you are still in the same state. In Europe you can easily travel through 5 different countries in the same amount of time. :D Edinburgh and Glasgow have very different accents (look up interviews with Shirley Manson, who is from Edinburgh. While still having a clear scottish accent she sounds nothing like Fern or Limmy). But as I've said, I'm not from Scotland either, so what I say here might be complete horsesh... anyway. It's just that I made the mistake of calling an accent "glaswegian" once and then got a few angry responses from Scots telling me that the accent comes from small town to the south of Glasgow and sounds totally different from Glaswegian, haha. I was just trying to give you a small heads-up. :D@@Brando56894
I highly recommend Ferns book 'strong female character' to anyone curious about autism in females. Fascinating read.
I’m waiting for it to come in. Her background is fascinating. Autism is a spectrum of disorders that manifest themselves in entirely different ways depending on the person. Liz Miele, another comic, is autistic. So is Catharine Brennan - an MIT professor who has a great backstory. One of my daughter close friends is autistic.. and both of my daughters work with special needs individuals at various points on the spectrum. Interesting but not for me.
If youre a male and youre reading about females and autism, you probably have autism.
Ooh, she's autistic? Cool ty!
AuDHDer here, we prefer to say "conditions." Neurodivergence is only a "disorder" relative to being forced into a society that isn't made for how our brains and nervous systems work. @@JimAllen-Persona
@@worldadventuretravel What would a society that neirodivergents naturally fit into look like?
4:21 at least in that bleak "we did this for a piece of bread" way. I've died happy 😂😂 (and I'm going to hell for laughing 😅)
“I don’t need alcohol to be blunt and offensive“ 😂 I have that skill too! Just be honest and don’t care what people think and it’ll come naturally
that might be a touch of the tism, bud
You don't need to be autistic to be an honest person? Tf
@@skylarsaa sign of autism is the lack of ability to keep your honest thoughts to yourself. Emotional disregulation. Not everything that’s true is meant to be shared.
I wouldn't say lack of ability, more of an occasional misjudgement, I doubt we could hold a conversation if we shared all truths.
@@JuicyLeek That sounds so strange to me. People ask me a question, and I answer. Why ask a question if you're not interested in a genuine response? I am old and intelligent enough to know that you're right, but even after 60 years I never understood it. What is the benefit of dishonesty in the long run?
"People just looked at me like a dog was barking at em" I think I might be Scottish...
As a Yorkshire woman who's living in London and just been diagnosed with autism, I feel like I've found a kindred spirit 🤣🤣🤣

No wonder I like this comedian. Watched her for a while. Same time I was finding out I'm on the spectrum she also mentioned it in interviews. Life makes more sense now.
Her book is really good if you haven't already checked it out
And she was on Taskmaster. Its on youtube
Honestly it’s so relieving talking to or listening to others on the spectrum. Feels like the only time something makes sense, and the only comfortable social interaction possible.
When I got diagnosed as being on the spectrum at 26, I felt so much weight lifting off my shoulders. Finally I had an explanation for why I do the things I do in the way that I do them.
My face when she said "facial expressions are for when you're with other people" :0 Never forget to wear your fake face so the NT's don't decide to come after you with pitchforks and torches.
She's a great comic - a superb human.
I've always thought her accent was just absolutely adorable
Yeah foreign shit is hot lol.
I first saw Fern on a special when she was introduced by Frankie Boyle and she killed it. She is something special, and coincidentally the same flavor of neurospicy that I have
Neurospicy hahaha I like that
She's so genuine dude, great set here, very bold also, paid off
Nah, she's just ripping off Kevin Bridges.
Yeah she's genuine and bold because she's autistic. She's a beacon of success for autisic people in comedy, whose whole deal is being socially underdeveloped despite being intelligent and capable. And to add to that, she's a woman. Autism in women is severely underdiagnosed and greatly misunderstood. Her existence and openness about her condition and how she's coped is going to help a lot of women, and likely save a lot of lives. She's bloody fantastic.
@@AkuraTheAwesome She's another reason I hate being autistic.
@@williamoarlock8634 what? Why? What's wrong with Fern Brady that drives you to some degree of self-loathing? She's a successful comedian that a lot of people really connect with. She helped my autistic wife accept a diagnosis, and has lightened her mood towards the disorder. This wild Scottish weirdo is being adored and is successful? Maybe it's not so bad she thinks. Everyone is different of course, I'm just really surprised to hear people who don't like her because I find her personally really endearing.
@@AkuraTheAwesome I mean, I agree with you generally, but I must be pedantic and point out that her boldness and genuineness isn't caused by her autism, it's just part of her character
Lol at the beginning of this set, I was like, "is she autistic? She sounds like me" and then at the end I felt so vindicated. HELLO, FERN, I SEE YOU AND YOUR LACK OF SOCIAL SKILLS and for some reason this seemed like a good idea to write, you're welcome
Her book is really good
It's crazy how autistic people in the UK sound like the least autistic people in the US. Our definitions are very different.
@@purdysanchezShe sounds perfectly normal to me. Well, except for the accent. I have no idea what some of these commenters are hearing.
Same here, where's the Autism?
@@nikismith3784 *FACIAL EXPRESSIONS ARE FOR WHEN YOU ARE WITH OTHER PEOPLE* the most relatable most autistic comment ever LOL
I could watch her sets over and over. Mainly because I only understand a quarter of it, and not the same quarter each time I rewatch it,
The subtitles on this video are perfect. Very helpful if you're watching on your phone while brushing your teeth. (I can vouch first hand.)
She has the most adorable way of saying memories I have ever heard. 😆
It’s interesting to see this has two different audiences, but splices together so well! 2:38 & 6:44 I love Fern, I’d like to see her live but also want her to do another roast battle!!
Love, love, love Fern Brady! Comedy at its Finest! Well done!
Ever find comics you just immediately fall in love with? I think I just had that happen.
Why is the comment section 60% people who can’t construct a sentence?
Bcuz dis utube.
Am urny sure whit yer greeting aboot.
Let's not even start about people who haven't a clue about why one should construct a sentence,or whether or not it is acceptable to sentence others to terms of semantic gibberish without dew proses, lol.
Scotlang!
I assume 60% of her audience is Scottish
Her special is one of the best of last year.
Holy Hell! Who needs facial expressions when youre alone 😂😂😂😂
I DIED 😂😂😂💀
Best set so far, I’d say. Good job, fern. Great jokes, structuring, pace, everything was great! Keep it up!
She is absolutely fantastic, the way she OH I JUST SAW A LITTLE GREEN FLY!
“Well don’t I just file a tax return” KILLED ME
Just saw a clip and had to immediately look her up. I was not disappointed. Great set.
Fern is really, really good! Stumbled across this great, funny video, and recommend!
I was stationed in England and had several Scottish friends…. She’s spot on and funny!
Impeccable deadpan, so funny lolol
Great set. I found out I was autistic at age 41 earlier this year. The alien comment is totally right.
I think the accent is nice. It can sound aggressive; it can also sound lilting and lovely. Funny set, Miss Fern!
This thing about associating ignorance with a Scottish accent is new to me. Scotland has produced some of the greatest minds in history. James Clerk Maxwell, David Hume, and James Watt changed the world with their minds.
You aren't English, are you?
@@lolbubs11111Nope. Doesn't change the fact that a people who have contributed so much to the development of the modern world could only be called ignorant by jealous assholes.
I like to go more low class with John Logie Baird and Alexander Graham Bell 😂
Loved when she said that she thought she sounded like Stephen Frye...l love him as well as Fern.
Funny at, smart, and her make up is on fleek here too! Love this wonder!
Fantastic voice and accent.
Bruwyant fae start tae fineesh! Love this girl she's the best 👏
Loooooooove her 💖 Fern is the best! 😂 I'm so grateful to have learnt the lenguage well enough to understand the different accents 🤌🏻 (at least in stand up)
Exceptional talent as well as a proud beauty. She’s my new favourite thang for at least the next day and a half. Xxxxx
TUG ON MAH PUBES RHONA! hahaaa
Great delivery 😆 proper standup !
...this is only the second post I've seen of this lovely lass Fern Brady, oh what a Scottish treasure she obviously is! Flawless comic delivery, superb timing, incredible mastery of the ironic. She ought to be knighted by the queen for sheer sarcasm.
Camilla?
Good to see Fern still doing the rounds. Some old material but the new stuff integrated is excellent.
Solid gold comedy! 😂🏅👍 Rooting for your success!
The coaching on specific situations is so helpful, no? Glad to hear it has helped you as well!
Fern Brady is gorgeous, and is hilarious, she really should be on TV more
Fern Brady is so funny.
I just found this and Fern is amazing! So hilarious!
I'm from Yorkshire, I feel the pain. I moved to Australia for a year, the blank expression whilst nodding at me, nervously smiling 😊
and they're so hard to understand, ironic!
@@angelacox-martin2789 ah the best one was when my dad came to Belfast whilst I lived there. The tour guide didn't understand my dad's accent, he chuntered "well it int like their accents reyt easy t'understand ti's it,"
I watch this on repeat throughout my life as comfort comedy.
The tax joke was so real lmao
Hahaha just found this and discovered her. So refreshing and unique.
I am italian and I don't speak a very good english but somehow I just enjoyed every bit of this video. TY Fern, I hope to have the chance to see ypu live one day or another.
You're amazing.
That was good material. Nice set, very funny.
I spent five wonderful weeks consulting in the “silicon glen” area between Edinburgh and Glasgow. Had a great time and loved the people there. They were so very friendly, after I “went first.”
Always make me crack up
I’m pulled over to people and made to say ‘there’s gonna be a murrrderrr’ as in Taggart, so they can all laugh
I absolutely love her voice and her accent!
I always wondered why I related so heavily to Fern... Twas the tism!
Nice to see a successful aspie, gives hope for the rest of us
It's Fern Brady! She's the rightful queen!
Omg i love her.
Man she’s great
First time seeing this remarkable human being perform... intelligent humour behind a functional veneer of comedy. Please Sir, can I have some more?
she is funny and gorgeous, that's a deadly combo for me.
Holy Wow! Brilliant!
Ah, proper use of that hand sign. That's refreshing.
Just a good comic!
I freaking love Fern 😂
I'd love to see her live! She's hilarious 😂
She’s just announced a 2024 tour!
Beautiful and funny!
Very relatable set
She is the best
Legend!!!
I think I've found my spirit comedian ❤😊
Filing taxes....oh my Christ perfection ❤😂❤😂❤
She is great 😂
Shes honestly one of my favourite comedians.
Charming and very, very funny!
Love her
LOVE IT
Funny thing happened (to me)…. I’m American and quite a bit older than most of the audience on line… yet, as I was reading all the comments, I realized that I was reading them in my head WITH A SCOTTISH ACCENT!!! This never happens to me with any other comedian regardless of their nationality or how pronounced their accent is. Did this happen to anyone else? It was like I got a temporary Scottish accent filter stuck in my ears (head) . Maybe it was because I really had to try hard to understand her. Please say something… reply to this comment if it happened to you. I would really appreciate it.
Gen X American here. Yes, I was also reading in a Scottish accent, and didn't realize it until I read your comment!
Yup same here 😂
I read all the comments in a Scottish accent too, but then I am Scottish. 😅
I was totally shocked to find out not everyone has a voice in their head that makes observations and commentary on the events in the outside world. Having said that, everything I read has an accent... after reading a lot of comments on the internet, they usually start with an American accent, but that can morph into almost anything given context, and the first signs of intelligence and empathy completely cure the American accent, lol. Apologies to Americans who aren't already my friends, those who are my friends are smart enough to know that it's a joke, and a natural segue from those in the set we are meant to be commenting on, lolagain.
Try Billy Connolly. Probably find the same phenomenon. 😊
😂😂😂sorry kept sort of thinking I now see where Michael Myers got the idea for his Scottish accent. I thought he was exaggerating. It helped me understand you, Ms Brady but loved you easier thanks to him. Thank you ❤️😊❤️
This girl is fucking good
"Pumping sea monsters" is a new one for me.
Fantastic! 😅
Loved every piece of this, Fern!
Ferns bloody great
Has anyone ever found a humorous comedienne ever in history? That would be great to find one somewhere!
I Love you Fern!
I'm not ashamed to say that I share Fern's taste in porn, and have made the exact same criticisms of both amateur and professional stuff.
great stuff
I love her!!! 🤣💕
