I found that the penetrator is great for higher difficulties but you're always running out of ammo. Wish it had a larger magazine.
I prefer the Scorcher, but likewise, I wish it had more ammo. :)

It's supposed to be a dmr due to the scope and such so that's why it's got a smaller mag.
The number of people who call the Lib Pen a garbage weapon tells me that tons of players are either sticking to lower difficulties or are just bad shots. The Lib Pen is extremely effective at high difficulties due to its medium armor pen. It's weakness is it has a smaller magazine and therefore you run out of ammo faster. Managing this is pretty easy though, you just have to be smart about supply drops.
You can quick tap to shoot one at a time instead of 3 burst.. though you need 2-3 shots to kill small bugs if you can't headshot em
assault rifle is very underrated, its nice that they made the basic starter gun actually viable so fans of it arn't forced to use something else
I like cycling between these guns, it just depends on if I'm feeling like being balanced, anti armor, (which I normally do) or anti heavy.
If you ignore the fact that the defender is literally a direct upgrade to the liberator

@@ladaleenglish6756 and a very clear dps decrease. That is the only thing the liberator has over the defender being the scope change.
I find that it being the starter gun puts people off using it after unlocking other guns. Same with the starting armor is actually one of the best in the game
I had no idea that the lower part of striders were med armor, this changes everything

The lower part of strider armor behaves weirdly. It can be penetrated with medium pen guns very reliably if you're within 5 meters of them. But if you're further than that their rounds will bounce.

@@jooot_6850 It not that it makes sense or not, it's weird because i believe it's the only enemy with armor that changes effectiveness based on distance.

I love how in this game it’s less about having the strongest gear and more about strategic use of your gear
Just means 90% of the weapons are useless if you actually want to kill the enemy before they kill you.

I think that’s what I love about the game is every gun serves a function. It isn’t just “abandon starter after getting new one” Pros and cons I love that
Ye theoretically but that’s all arguably only true here because the assault rifles are collectively sub par.

@@Th0rn5555 I would say punisher is best shotgun RN. Not having to deal with mags management and higher damage per shot are both huge advantages. Yes it is not as good in a sticky situation where you need to dump entire mag asap but again it higher baseline damage and respectable mag size makes it less likely for you to get in a sticky situation to begin with.

The new energy rifle in the premium war bond is actually amazing. The ammunition problem is just gone. The damage is great, and even if you do overheat, the "reload" is pretty damn fast
With the scope/lack or recoil and endless ammo, it is like a machine gun sniper rifle. Being able to cover teammates from an overwatch position, one shoting heavy bots in the face, mowing down anything thing trying to call in support, assassinating rocket troopers with ease in fire fights. Feels so good.

Concussive works great with the rover dog against bugs since the rifle allowes the rover to cook by keeping the enemies from molesting you

I absolutely LOVE the concussive liberator paired with the machine pistol. My favorite combo out of the weapons I’ve used so far
Probably should've mentioned the Penetrator's burst fire. Same RoF in the burst as the standard Liberator, but you've gotta hold the trigger for the entire three round burst, or it'll be short. Figuring out the timing is tricky, but doable, and once you get the timing down, it's not too noticeably worse than the regular Liberator vs small enemies.

Just spam the trigger in burst mode and you will pretty much shoot full auto. Thays what i do
@@giomarrodriguez2810 I’ll try that later, it felt like there was a pretty decent delay in between bursts when I used it, might be a timing issue on my part
You can change it to full auto by holding the reload button and selecting it
@@ruzarkov2 yeah no. This weapon can either be 3 round burst, or semi-auto. Good try tho.
I think a team running only liberators would be pretty cool, classic for the swarms, explosive to keep the swarm back, and penatrator to take out the armor targets, and then a free slot for either a second of those 3 depending on needs or a different weapon all together

The base shotgun is actually a really good knockback and damage weapon, u can easily take out spewers and brood commanders w 4/5 shots; sometimes a commander is taken out by just two if u shoot their head right next to u. it also knocks commander and stalkers back a shit ton
Having just went up against Automatons for the first time, I'm convinced that the first shotgun is the only reason I'm finishing missions
I had got the concussive assault rifle and let one of my friends use it but he still loves first shotgun more. I have also started using shotgun a lot more as well as it's just really good all around for most enemies. The smaller mag size is really it's only flaw I think but small price to pay for damage output.

I like how the game actually visualy communicates - when you showed difference between uper and middle part of the strider, there were no “bullet holes” in the upper part, but were at the middle part, clearly showing it is being damaged. Important aspect for attentive players :)

Low ammo capacity meaning more reloads, lower damage meaning more time and ammo on regular enemies, still crap against heavies.

I use the Jar-5 Dominator. It can 3 or 4 hit medium sized targets. It's wildly underrated I feel like. Edit: Gun got a massive buff and just know I was a user of it before it became the next hip weapon. I think it was unnecessary but a welcome change.
People don't use it cause the slugger can fulfill the same purpose with less downsides
I also really like it. WORD OF THE WISE THOUGH, it is more like a layman's boltor that an assault or marksman rifle. Shoots mini rockets or something of the like that have projectile speed and a notably slow one at that. The reload speed is also atrocious when being overwhelmed. It's just a little to slow in those situations and it never winds up reloaded. Wish diving didn't reset reloads nearly as hard as it does. It does one shot small bugs, though without intercepting game packets I can't tell if the explosive weapon counts as having the trait for damage. Weapon also has the notorious marksman rifle style weapon issue of bad ammo reserves. 7 total mags of 15 rounds each for a total of 105 bullets, each marked with supposed 200 damage.
yes obviously explosive has an effect on damage ? You still can't tell that after every weapon with explosive has come out ?
Any of the guns that say they are explosive do 100% more damage to the squishy parts.
Every time I take that thing, I like to role play it's just a Super Earth Bolter equivalent. 😂

I feel like the penetrator has too many debuffs to make it viable. You get a lower fire/burst fire rate, lower damage, and lower mag size. i feel like they could have left mag size the same and not made it burst fire for less damage
Nope. Best one if you actually learn how to use it. It's the most reliable
theres a hidden mechanic where if you hit light armor with light penetrating, the dmg is reduced by 60%, (white hitmarker). Contrary a red hitmarker where the bullet has a higher penetration vs the target armor will deal full dmg
Grabbed one off of a fallen squad member and it felt like I was just using an upgraded version of my Diligence.

The Liberator Penetrator needs a damage buff.
Nah its balanced by having medium penetration, i think the balancing is great between most weapons you just dont use them all in the same ways
@@cryptdk2400 i understand the trade off but it does wayyyy to little damage. Like, an Automaton Devastator sometimes takes an entire magazine to the chest and it still doesn’t drop. I get the incentive to shoot weak points but I mean cmooooooon a Whole Mag and sometimes more is wayyyy to much for just one mid tier bot.

every gun that isnt a shotgun legitimately needs a 2x-3x damage buff to even be worth using. the liberators specifically have such pitiful damage output that despite being cool they are just worthless compared to the breaker

Huh the knockback on the concussive one looks pretty decent. Could definitely use some more damage though, maybe even a small aoe
I feel like concussive lib does it's job well, it's a niche many people dont fill for crowd control
While I agree the problem is you want to clear bugs that come from a bug reach, not push them away. The more they linger, the likelier they will spawn another bug breach. Concussive just prolongs their stride towards you and you can only use so many stratagems. Does make for an interesting build tho. Maybe pushing bugs off cliffs 😂

i actually really like the lib penetrator for higher diffs. i prefer it over the breaker, as i usually use autocannon and nades if im getting swarmed. the armor penetration is nice i just wish it had a slightly larger clip

I found an SMG that says it does more damage with a lower fire rate. The only competitor I've found so far.
@@AHDBification defender is good I just like the acog on the lib. New Lazer rifle has same scope. Makes crits dumb easy.

I lost count of the amount of times I saved my team with the concussive liberator when they're being charged at by medium sized bugs.
You also have firing mode selectors on your guns, and magnification settings. Hold down the reload button to toggle between them

The base submachinegun is pretty good against the bugs.
The problem with the default Liberator tbh is just that the Defender exists, for some rerson they made the SMG super accurate so it can just fulfil the assault rifle role without an issue

People really need to look into armour weak points and types, so many just think the armor is over the top and impossible to deal with without a nade or some form of explosive, but im in awe of how much the armour systen works! It is a really well made one that can be countered with ease if you know the right spots, some weapons just add more spots
Great description and break down! I do the Penetrator in semi if you've got a faster trigger finger I think you can beat the burst delay and save ammo on smaller enemies.

I like to use the concussor on bug missions since it’s a free stun lock against anything smaller than a charger. In solo, it gives me time to either run or hit a strategem, and with a team it gives us breathing room for my team to either do an objective or kill things
For the concussive liberator the one time that I used it it was at Tom and there was those shield guys, which is very overpowered for it but you just need to shoot them once anywhere and they’re done and they’re open so they can’t shoot. They can’t block bullets and it’s just pretty good.

The starting liberator also has some medium to long range viability with its semi auto and burst modes
The fact that the Diligence is a marksman rifle, but only penetrates light armor is kind of a let-down.
The problem with the concussive liberator is that the punisher staggers enemies far more while also doing all of the damage.
I never go against bugs without my concussive.

The concussive is good for when you have a high capacity heavy weapon like the stalwart, machine gun, or lightning gun
Pair the penetrator with the stalwart it is actually so good
I love all the Assault Rifles, but tend to run the one handed SMG in main to carry those objectives when needed
I found that sometimes if you put a Senator round dead center of the strider cab it can go through

I love playing as a 'Fire Support' guy when I see people already rocking shit tons of AT so I packed Concussive, Stun nade, Supply pack and GL where I mostly keep small to mid ads at bay and they can prioritize the bigger guy while saving Railcannon for top dog like BT or FS
Extremely helpful, cause I had somebody mention that the penetrator didn’t seem to do as good DPS as the regular rifle so good to see its main job is simple medium armor pen
The stats are shown in the game, it definitely has less DPS. If all rounds hit, but more of your rounds pen to do damage then your DPS on targets is still better.
yes and no, anything that does have light armor reduces dmg of the bullet hitting it by 60% if it matches it in penetrative power, anything that has higher penetrative power isnt penalized
Its lovely to hear that the Liberator does have it's upsides. Been defending the Old Lady for awhile, but haven't been able to nail the point. Thanks!
