  • I noticed if you put a Heirarchy into a group and then move the group it seems to add the parent motions including rotations onto the child. Even if this is unintended it does create a quick parallex scrolling effect. Also happens when you scale the group which kinda enhances the effect of a Z depth when you then rotate and move.

  • Coming from someone with a decade+ of doing cutout character animation professionally using mostly after effects (and before that flash), it’s really awesome you’re putting this type of stuff into your affordable app. I ran thru a quick test and have some early feedback/feature requests: -When I’m playing back my animation and it’s playing… if I use my Apple Pencil on the timeline to grab the playhead, playback should be paused. Basically, I shouldn’t have to hit the pause button. An alternate more intuitive way to work quickly. (more like Ae) -When animating with parenting/hierarchy, I’d like to be able to have all layers unfolded with their keyframes visible. I need to see where the key frames are on my parent and children layers so I can offset them before even looking at the playback. I can only unfold one layer at a time making that a whole lot harder to do. -The easing curve stuff is great, but once I utilize it it’s uneditable and invisible. After I’ve added an easing curve preset to a key frame having it be editable and somehow visible that it’s no longer a plain key frame would be awesome. -Frame numbers above the timeline instead of seconds. The playhead uses frame number. More intuitive if the other numbers were frame numbers too. Or at least ability to switch. -Ability to playback and loop only a short section of the timeline. This app is great, thanks for making it

    @kev5782@kev5782 Жыл бұрын
    • Hey, kev! Hope you're doing great. I'm not affiliated with ToonSquid (at the moment, lol) but I have seen a solution to the "Ability to playback" fix, though it could be fixed with some UI. When in ToonSquid, tap and hold the Loop Symbol, and you'll have a pop-up showing the loop settings. You'll have to type in the figures for "Start Loop" and "End Loop" manually. I'm hoping the brushes are touched upon and allow perfect importing of Photoshop Brushes. I used ToonSquid for an animation competition, but I only used it as a Transformation tool, and used Procreate as my Rough and Clean Up animation tool. Let me know if you'll like to see what I did with it. It'll be nice to connect with other iPad animators. Thanks

    • Thank you very much for the feedback! I've noted down your suggestions. "I can only unfold one layer at a time making that a whole lot harder to do." You can open the settings and under "General > Keyframes > Show keyframes for" switch to "All layers". That should be what you are looking for. "The easing curve stuff is great, but once I utilize it it’s uneditable and invisible." I'm not quite sure what you mean by that. You can always select the keyframe (or the area after that keyframe and before the next keyframe), open the easing curve editor and customize the easing curve for each keyframe as often as you like. All keyframes use the "Linear" easing curve by default and you can also select that one again from the list if you want to switch a keyframe back to its default easing. Please feel free to correct me if that isn't what you mean. "Ability to playback and loop only a short section of the timeline." The easiest way to do this is to tap the playhead and then select "Start Loop" and "End Loop" to define the looping region. As mentioned in the other reply you can also do this by long-pressing the loop button.

My main feature requests for further updates are an ability to control the stroke width over the course of a path, sort of like controlling pressure after the path is drawn, and a boolean system for shapes for simple shape addition and subtraction for some shape building. That would take this app to new heights in my opinion.

  • In Callipeg 2.2 a transform layer can affect layers inside a group individually, e.g. make layers rotate around their respective pivot point. In ToonSquid transform affects all elements below it in hierarchy as a whole (?), would be cool if it could be improved on.

  • Okay so this app is AMAZING! You are a true hero! You have no idea how important this is to animators! Well maybe you do 😅 Suggestions: - Backup pop-up, could it appear a more discrete way, so I can ignore it and press it when I take a break? Lile maybe a little backup-bubble appears next to Actions, I can tap when I want. - could we get a function for the fill tool, it fills color in regards to what ever is on the screen? An alternative mode to fill reference. - could you add a quick shape tool like procreate? I know there is the vector shape pen, but like for a quick straight line or just a perfect circle. Most ppl use that a lot. Then the pen tool was for more detailed shapes maybe? 🤷🏽‍♂️ - lastly a “draw while playing” function. To add effects, like speed lines, snow, etc? It then registers the lines on seperate frames. This is just suggestions to make this app even more wonderful… or dare I say perfect?! Let me know if you need me to test stuff or elaborate more 😊🙏🏽 Again THANKS! 🤩🥳🙏🏽⭐️♥️

  • This is so awesome! Very intuitive and easy to do. I like to create my characters in Procreate with each body part on its own layer. I can import them as pngs into Toonsquid one by one, or as an image sequence, but they are all on the same layer. Is there a way to import all pngs at once, like image sequence, but all on separate layers? It would save so much time instead of importing one by one and then lining everything up. Thanks :)

  • I am currently using it for simple motion graphics and animation scenes. Overall, I'm really impressed that it works great and is easy to use. The strength of the app is the keyframe editing and scene management. It had the potential to be an amazing app. So I really want to give you my feedback. Minor Bug (I use the app on an iPad Air Gen 3. IPadOS 16.2.) 1. When I import a 4-second short video with no sound at 24 frames per second (I used MP4 files) to the scene and play preview alongside other layers, the app crashes. But it works great when you hide the video layer while previewing. The best thing is that I did not find any problems with the final render with the video files in the project. 2. Import too many image cause the app crash. for example i import 96 image (24 fps) the app will crash, so i reduce image to 24 image and it work find. Suggestion 1. When you set a value such as scale or position, I'd like to include a numeric pad on the screen similar to Vectornator, more specifically a value such as per pixel, centimeter, or inch. 2. A minor issue for me personally is that when you move the "Blue Preview Mark" out of the timeline of a "Drawing Layer," both the "Properties" and "Keyframes" menus are closed, so you need to open the Group folder to select the specific layer for managing keyframes again. 3. It needs some kind of camera composition guide as well as a ruler. I think this will help some animator to create the scene.

    • Thank you very much for taking the time to write out all of this valuable feedback! Regarding bug 1: Would it be possible for you to send me the project file to contact@toonsquid.com? I'd be happy to take a look at why exactly it crashes if you enable the video in the editor. Bug 2: Are you using the image sequence import and it crashes during the import? So you import 4 x 24 images and then it works? Or can you not import more than 24 images in total before it crashes?
