The main problem of the xCar review is there is no comparison with the competitors, the whole review is how good the car is. Basically, every new car is good on its own. Other than that, review are great. Cheers!

+Holy Mayonnaise Every other reviewer is comparing it. I'm sorry but I want to learn about *the car* and only the car. I already know about it's competitors. If you don't then that's your fault, do yourself a favor and watch reviews of them before this one. I'm sick of so-called "reviews" focusing most of their time on comparing. If you want to compare, bring the other damn car out and do a comparison video. I'm sick of those videos, glad there's videos like this focusing on *the car* and only the car.
+Holy Mayonnaise I don't know, I didn't click on a video called "New 7 Series vs S-Class vs A8". I clicked on a video called "BMW 7 Series: Smarter Than You & Luxury In Every Detail". It told me how the car was smarter (than me, well that's debatable haha) and how it's luxurious. I'd say I'm pretty satisfied with the result.

+Behemothokun Who will deal with the depreciation then? When will people learn that you still have to pay for the depreciation even when you lease? It is calculated in the freakin lease contract! It's not like the dealership will lease a car for $30k over 2 years and then when the lease is over take back the car which has now lost $45k in value.... =l Leasing is more expensive than paying cash and the ONLY advantage of leasing is that you don't need to put up all the money for the car at once.
+Luis Mendez Get an F01/F02. They'll look almost identical to this gen to most people. You'll be able to snag an early F01/F02 for like $10-15k this coming year. Crazy!

+Maurice van too much money for Track Day car...unless you want it in a private collection... CLS63 AMG and M4 GTS are completely different cars in completely different segments..and to be honest I would go with the Turbo S or GT3 ..

Excellent review. I particularly liked the definition of what a luxury car is intended for. I like how the reviewer adapts well to what each car is designed for and reviews it on that basis - on its particular merits.

How much are the futuristic laser lights to repair or replace when damaged?
I find they look identical to their old lights. Now the adaptive Audi lights, also illegal in the US, those look and behave amazing. Unfortunately I see nothing impressive about this, the interior looks pretty plastic and cheap for this price range, though I like the rear seats. The gimmicky motion detection is silly as not one person on earth will think it's easier to twirl your finger in the air instead of keeping you hand on the steering wheel and pressing a button with your thumb. Its a feature no one wanted or asked for and which serves no purpose. The display looks unimpressive compared to similar cars, the outside looks like a long last gen 3 series...and 200hp on a 5000lb car is not fast, no matter how polite the reviewer is trying to be. Where is the competition to the s8, amg s class or XJR?

+philip s (Dishano) well for the next gen 6 series they are even considering making the 6 gran coupe version into the 8 series not fully decided yet but it just means the next 6 series will be a beautiful BEAST. there probably will be a 9 series coupe too more ultra luxury version

+Evan C. There is a large segment gap between the RR and the 760Li. The cheapest RR is easily going to cost you about $300k. The most expensive 760Li's will be like $150k or so. There's a middleground where Bentley, Maseratti, and others fit right in.
chbrules Maybe. I would personally tend to think that RR would simply make a cheaper model, but if BMW wants to fill the gap themselves, they absolutely can.

Excellent review. Thanks for taking the time to appreciate the thoughtfulness and craftsmanship that goes into the BMW 7 series as well as all the technology instead of just superficial comparisons with no real contemplation of the design language and engineering vision of the car. I was surprised that even Matt Watson's review seemed a bit cheaply put together. You gave the car the respect that it deserves, best review so far.

Buying an S-class, people will mistake it to C-class, Audi A8 again it's an Audi they all look really close to eachother. but buying this 7 series you will undoubtedly standout!! and i like the Luxury/sportiness BMW offers BUT i kinda feel S class interior a bit more superior IMO. Again great review, thank you guys!
I agree but who buys a luxury car to stand out? It's all about the comfort.
+David MuscleGuy i'm both a merceds and bmw person, more on the BMW side. However, i disagree that the 7 series in anyway stands out to the other bmw lineups, just like the S-class, it's "not much different" other than being longer than the c-class/3-series (maybe looking more like a 5 series).
Jeffrey A yeah they're close but Mercedes c next to S class is remarkably close! many many times i've mistaken s class to a C till i realize ohh that's longer.

The new jaguar xj has that same adaptive cruise mode, it's incredible i have to say.
I was out on my bike when I spotted you guys driving this around!! I live in Grasse and the road between Saint Vallier de theiy and Seranon is a favourite even in my golf Diesel. The road is used a lot by Harry Metcalfe and yep Chris Harris, there will be some events this year for the bicentennial of the road itself., The Route Napoleon. Nice car in the flesh but would rather drive the road in a little Lotus.
You guys are my current replacement for Top Gear, and when the new show comes out, I'll still watch you. Great Work
I think the Lexus ls460 is the world's most comfortable car to drive or to be driven in.. that air suspension is like riding on clouds. wow I'll never forget the 1st time I drove my 2003 ls wow what a feeling riding thru rough roads. you dnt feel the bumps and there's hardly any road feedback it's like flying..

yea but the S-class interior is more inviting and warm, and sometimes that alone will make it sell.

The interior in the S class looks and feel so cheap, the interior in the 7 is pretty ugly but at least it doesn't look and feel cheap

I'm not a Merc fan overall (except for AMG's) but I have to say that the S class since 2 gen ago it's a better car than the 7series in terms of comfort and "being special inside as a luxury sedan should be". I've been in both and I can guarantee you that the back seats of the S class Lwb are something special, nothing compares to them. Super comfy, roomy, techy, and everything is just exquisite wherever you look. The interior of the S looks enormous when sitting in the back. The 7 series (in particular the previous gen) had far less space in the back seats (I was amazed by the difference in legs space between the two Lwb models) and you feel a lot more cozy overall. So, I would invest my money in the Merc any day, not based on tastes but on real facts and the feeling you have when you are inside the car.

TBH, this gen doesn't look much different than the F01/F02. That's a good thing for anyone interested in a used 7er from last gen. It's a subtle evolution, which is okay. The last gen looked pretty good too.
2010 A4 has an adaptive setting in the drive select menu called auto, nothing new, cool car though

The S class is and always has been the benchmark in this segment, Mercedes makes sure of that. They put everything they have it comes down to knowledge and or preference. Bmw=sport luxury Benz=luxury sport Thats the differnece! And before anyone attacks i own a Bmw&love it...Sport+ M performance its so fun.
The best interior in the class by far! Funny how everyone thinks S class is the best in class interior, the two screen layout is horrendous, it seems like they had no time to design it properly and just stuck 2 TV Screens for the hell of it.
my Skoda Octavia parks and drives itself...but none of the other cool stuff :( keep up the good work...
