Hi everyone!!
In this video I’m sharing some common makeup techniques that I see all the time and ways you can improve on them!
As mentioned in the video, these techniques may not seem super impactful on camera, but trust me, in person they make a world of difference!

It depends on the look you are going for. High blush placement can make my face look snatched but it's also very harsh if I just want to look fresh. Placement under the eyes can look youthful and softer.
Could not agree more 💯👏👏👏👏
if u have harsh lines u'll want to use the blender u used for ur concealer to blend...
@Brianna Coleman I can blend my contour, that's not an issue...it's just than my face is rather sharp already and contour makes it even sharper.
Definitely! I actually think that she looks more youthful and fresh on the right side. It's way more natural!!
Exactly. I really dont like the blush high up. When I place it on the apples of the cheeks it looks much fresher and prettier.
I hated blush on me (round face) before I knew how to place it right
I feel your pain, girl! I have a full moon face because of my thyroid health and have been reluctant to use blush myself
How do you place it?
I, too, have a round face and started doing my blush this way a couple years ago. It's made a huge difference in slimming my round, 56 yr old face!!! Definitely try it out!
It makes a world of difference, doesn’t it? I look like I have these fat ass cheeks when I apply to the apples.
@@maemae4909 I'm the one with fat cheeks. I am 5'3" and 205. I think my face is oval. Definitely not square or heart.
I apply blush exactly where I actually get pinkish while I blush.
I actually prefer the 1st blush placement… very fresh and pretty
Same, the higher placement just never seemed right to me. To each there own.
Try to find out where you naturally blush, after a workout for example. For most people its not on the apples of the cheeks^^ The second placement is definitly better once you hit 35 years and your face starts sagging.
Me too!
i agree. it fits her face better. i think it depends on the face shape and cheek bones etc.
I think the first one looks so wrong on her, it's neither the natural place for blush and it just looks like a pink patch of dirt in the middle of the cheek. They second one looks more natural and more subtle and doesn't make her cheek look down and heavy like an old lady's cheek.
I just started doing this technique. I'm 59, and has been a game changer!!
Wow! Showing the difference in the placement of the blush on each cheek really made me realize I've got to go higher. Thank you so much, Nikki.🥰
I have an extremely long face, so when I try to do this technique, it tends to make my face look longer, because my mid face is so bare. But I keep playing around with it
either way is correct, it depends on your face shape! if you have a long face and want to balance it, applying it on the apples of your cheeks creates that effect
Definitely do what works for you!
Ughhh!! I have a long face tooo 😢 this sucks! Maybe blush isn’t for me 😅
My face is oval, so I could go up or down, but I prefer the lifted blush and I like to bring it all the way across my entire center of my face. Especially when it's cold out cuz I like that flushed, cold look and I think it makes me look even more youthful and I always get compliments when I do my blush like this, maybe try blushing your nose. I love the rosy nose look
Try to apply it few cm aways below your eyes and taking it a little up to o
I have to say I like the low placement more and I think it suits you better than the higher one!
I love being the blush into the eye a little and up onto the temples, blending it out, so it doesn’t just get cut off right at your temple. It just seems a lot more natural looking and it also brings the color into the eye to be more flattering, imo. Same as people do with their bronzer or or contour a lot.
@@CallmeCalypso yes no one has the same bone structure or look, so it will obviously changed on what someone’s preference is and their structure. Lol That’s why I said IMO.
I have round face shape. And I only have applied blush on the highest point of my cheeks, not on the apples cuz it looks weird on me. Lifted blush is my thing. And I like everything lifted in my makeup.
I think both are pretty! Many people go too low on the apples of the cheeks 😅 I feel like it looks more youthful and the other one more lifted but mature
Yes! I have applied blush like the second application for years. It creates a cheek bone. As a woman who is 37 now it is helping lift a bit too.
I have a long face so placing the blush up high only accentuates the longness which is something I definitely DON'T want to do... so girls... with the long faces like me.... you are NOT making mistakes by not placing your blush high. The only reason I'm addressing this is because of the videos title... which says these are blush mistakes and to avoid making them.
I also have a long face, and somehow pink blush looks best on me when it's really far down on the cheeks, almost next to the lips. Red blush looks very strange there, but pink blush looks amazing somehow. Did you by any chance have the same experience? I feel a bit weird doing that, even though I think it looks good.
@@enielfblerta428 same!
@@katiehenry7 nice, thanks for the reply! ^^
Love your 2 different eyes. Mine are the same. One hooded and one like perfect. Always wondered if it's just me
No it’s not just you:) I have the same thing.. pretty much everyone does to some extent- some are just more noticeable than others- like us:)
mine too!!
Me too.
@@st4rp0wer 🩷
@PiXie232 I think we see it more than others as people tell me they are rhe same. My left is slightly hooded and right one normal 😂 but hey, you are right, each side of our faces are different anyway 🩷
Definitely looks more youthful and fresh
Honestly, with this specific blush, I love the cheekbone application.
I prefer applying a small quantity on the middle of my apples, somewhere below the midpoint of the iris, which looks really natural even when I'm not smiling. And this works for me whether I apply everything else, or just a tinted moisturizer & lipbalm. I think choosing the blush shade (nude, baby pink, rose, coral, mauve) & texture (cream, gel, powder) would be just as important to determine the look you arrive at, as well.
Haha I love the puppy dogs and rainbow special effect
Depends on how you want to look, for example i like the first one better, makes my face look more smaller and sharp. And also depends on your features 🙂
Yes yes yes! And thank you for letting women know about LIFT!!!
I’ve been doing this off late and it has changed everything for me. Thank you ❤
Oh wow, great tip. I always did it smiling but you can see the big difference. Love these little tips
The side by side comparison made me lol. Thanks for the tip
I’ve been doing this for like 10 years now. I never understood the whole applying blush on the apples of the cheek thing. I feel like since I have a chubbier face, I naturally figured out how to do this thru trial and error and have been doing it ever since 🤷🏻♀️
i actually like the 'forbidden' way on you and many others. you do look great!
Your skin is flawless. So beautiful.
I pretty much do it this way. Actually, I stopped using powered blush and use an old shade of lipstick!
Same here, it blends nicely as well🙋🏻♀️
I love this because once I learned that this is the way to place your blush, ive never turned back! Love it!
Wondering your lip wear!
I LOVE YEWWWW Nikki!!! Such a joy to watch. We are so lucky to have you educating us and i LOVE interacting with you!!!❤ Thank you ❤
I actually do walk around smiling..always have as a kid as well..Family & friends Nicknamed me Smiley ☺️ lol...but I love this tip!! Thank you
Bless your heart. ❤
@@BelleZee1 lol do you live in the south
that’s so sweet! ❤
Wow! What a difference in the two sides! I had no idea! (BTW, I do walk around puppies and rainbows all day haha, yes, I'm sure it's annoying! 😂😊❤) Love you and your shared knowledge has helped me so much! Ty
I have seen a million blush placement videos - this is the best one I have seen yet! ❤️
Wow, thank you!
@@Makeupbynikkilarose Of course! And I COMPLETELY meant it. It was my very first time seeing one of your videos, and then I watched a few more of them, and I had the exact same experience. I don't know what it is exactly about you, or how you do it, but your explanations and demonstrations, are absolute perfection. Short, sweet, yet detailed and to the point, with an absolutely beautiful demonstration of the very clear difference, and without the fluff and exaggeration. I fell in love with your style, INSTANTLY, AND SUBSCRIBED. I have watched KZhead, IG, and TikTok makeup tutorials, for fun, for years, but yours are just....💋 Chefs KISS! 🤌💋❤️ So, thank YOU! YOUR videos are the ones that I am going to refer to when trying to help my mom understand how to do her makeup, especially when I can't be there to assist. 😘 Thanks again!
Giiirrrl but you DO have incredible bone structure! Thanks for the video 😊
I was always curious about this. I still apply blush in the first application, the wrong way, and love it.
I didn't hear a word just wow those earring placements are wild does it hurt? They look soo beautiful 😍
Wow huge difference! Can’t wait to try😄
omg this is like what I been thinking about when i been doing my makeup lately and just thinking about blush In general lol and I have been trying this technique because I have natural apple cheeks, but I think I'll keep doing it like this woman said higher application on the cheeks
You are right old technique was to smile to apply blush so now is different.. and i like the new way. Nice
It's amazing how it changes your look. Thanks for this. What if you use cream brush? Do you need to use a brush to apply? I usually use fingers.
Love this idea! Going for it.
I do this, so glad I'm doing it right.
Thank you. I needed this ❤
I just have to say… you have AMAZING cheekbones!!!
I agree I will try this! Thank you
Thank u!!I was just thinking I needed to change something about my look., this is it!
Thank You for showing this!! I'm 55 years old and smiling and then applying the blush is how I was taught to do it but, not only did you correct it you explained and showed the difference and of course, it makes sense now!!!😂😂😊😊😊
My all time favorite way to apply my blush😊
I remember being in high school and a friend of mine told me to try and put my blush higher. It was life changing LOL
thats cute. i wish i had friends who had interest and idea about makeup, here i play that role lol
I always did the placements of contour and blush in the higher trendy way now because I loved to play around with my makeup when I was bored and I found it just made me look the best lol I’m glad it’s catching on the 2000’s we’re a scary time for makeup😂
I tried this for the first time today and it was incredible! Thank you so much!
I still prefer the lower blush application, just brings everything together, tired of snatched I prefer relaxed
Hi from England, lve been watching your tutorial for a while now lam obsessed your so sweet kind & beautiful & I’ve learned so much so thank you for all the effort and knowledge you put into your tutorial ❤
Wow, what a huge difference! I hate putting blush on so I hardly use it now that I'm older. But now that you've given a quick hack to lift up my face, I can't wait to do it tomorrow, hahaha. Thank you again ;-)
100% agreed. Best placement for blush, especially once you are over 35 years old. It looks so much better than this apple thing.
Yep! You're right, but you already knew that, thanks!
Always do the second blush.
Amazing, Thank you!
Love that you always mention the brushes..it's so annoying when on most makeup videos, they dont do that.
l love the placement of your large Diamond earrings 😍 🤩🤩🤩🤩
For me, I place my highlighter, a pyre where she plays the blush so I agree with some of my rather to flush a little lower, or maybe not too low, but along the mid apple of the cheek
I love a good shimmery blush for this reason, if you do it right you can contour and highlight at the same time!
Hi Nikki! I’m learning loads from you! My question is that when you want to use bronzer and blush how would you apply? My understanding is that you’d want to place both at the highest points of your cheek? But then one product would be more prominent than the other, and then you’d be kind of wasting product since you wouldn’t see either the bronzer/blush.
It should go like this from the highest placement ro the hollow of your cheek - highlighter Blush Bronzer Contour I hope this helps
Asmr kitty seems like such an amazing friend! How sweet of her
I already knew this advice, but how it was presented made me lol "we're not all puppy dogs and rainbows all day" with the music bahaha i loved it ❤ 🤣💀
This is how I have always put my blush on since the 80's.
something about your voice is soothing
Yes, been doing this for years as don’t really have much apple to my cheeks. Some make up doesn’t suit everyone.
Small detail but makes a big difference
THANK YOU!!
OOOH THANK YOU ♡♡ CAN I GET THE LINK FOR THE FULL VIDEO PLEASE? PRETTY PLEASE??
The blush brush is everything ladies size matters 😉😘
Finally I used to be made fun off when I placed my blush like that and now it’s a supermodel trend 😂
That’s the way I’ve always done my blush
Love this ❤❤
Girl thank you so much!
A good Dior dupe for that blush is, Sephora~ color 14 Over The Moon. It's around $12 🌸😘🌸
Both pics look good 👍
YES 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
you look good with both
Thank you!!
I love applying my blush like this! I also take it under the eye a little, I got a lot of blush inspo from Kylie Jenners makeup artist tbh aha I just love how they do blush
And your correct! ; )
lancome has an amazing plum blush its called plum wooow
Thank you fellow Nikki! Everytime I see/hear a KZheadr say put blush on the apples of your cheek I want to scream at the screen....Noooooo 🤣
Love it 😍
That's great! But where do we put the highlighter then?
Súper agree
I agree.
Thank you
Try to do the different placement like the center one, the W and yes this one the high point one.
WaW Thank you
I agree
It totally works for me this…
Awesome ❤❤❤❤
Huge difference actuwlky
It is so much better higher!
what is a good drugstore blush you recommend?
Could you please mention the noof blush is it from morphy but what no is I really like it
Honestly I was doing the high blush placement for a bit and it just didn’t look right. When I blush it is on the apples of my cheek. I guess it depends on your face shape, but the high blush application isn’t for everyone
Thanks for this very helpful vlog l too have trouble seeing where to put blush as l have a square face so l just smile an apply hope it's goes were it's suppose too🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔😏😒😒
i like to place it directly under my pupils. i think for my oval face thats most flattering and lifts the checks but doesn’t make my face look narrower
