Meanwhile Fontaine on the SPT-AKI (Tarkov singleplayer system) modding site is doing amazing work with his Realism mod. Your guy can actually run and operate his weapons like he was a private military contractor before being abandoned in the region like the lore dictates, but it still has room for improvement with the skill system. It's just one of the many things the mod does to the game but the movement tweaks alone make the game so much more enjoyable. If you remember the controversial inertia update to the actual live game you'll know how much better it feels with it gradually ramping up from pre-update movement at low carry weight to moving like a boat when you're carrying fifty kilos instead of just being all or nothing with weight affecting stamina and run speed only.
Too many game devs are catering to the casual Timmy who thinks it's unfair that someone could even think about shooting them outside of sneeze range. Their idea to "balance" the giga chad PVP'r against little casual Timmy is to nerf everyone into the ground, the bad players won't be affected by it much because they already sucked and probably won't ever engage stuff past 30m, however, the chad PVP'r will instantly feel it because they won't be able to effectively engage anyone past 30m either. For example, back in the early days of Tarkov (beta 0.7-0.8~) guns actually acted realistic, full-auto wasn't hard to control unless you built the shittiest gun you could think of, armor was actually rather realistic in that it only stopped what it was rated for 95% of the time, I had about just about 4,000 hours playing solo at that point (starting from EOD alpha) and I could regularly (at least 70% of the time, even if I did die I was still taking most of them with me) take out five-man squads because my gun did what I wanted and I have a natural talent for flanks/maneuvering in fire-fights so hit and run tactics worked phenomenally so long as you kept people at distances greater than 30m~ and you made sure your shots counted. Then they cranked the recoil to 11 making any faster than slow tap semi-auto fire effectively useless unless you had meta guns that cost millions with gear to match and maxed perks as well as buffing the power of face shields enough that they're almost always guaranteed to survive at least one shot from anything less than the most expensive ammo in the game meaning you were basically doomed as a solo. Unless you grind from day one of a wipe of course, because now everyone is a shit shot regardless of actual skill unless you have high perks and loads of money to spend on high end gear, if you're soloing with these debuffs you're going to lose 9/10 times to a grouped up party of shit shots ONLY because they have more guns shooting at you which increased their odds of winning effectively turning every fight into a gamble of luck than a match of skill. Honestly fucking hate casual gamers with a passion, I can't understand why they INSIST on dipping their toes into the "realistic" shooter genre just to then complain about how it's too hard or "unfair" that people wreck their shit demanding that the GAME be changed instead of them trying to get better. If you suck at a game, but don't want to take the time required to get better, don't fucking play it, move on, it's obviously not your cup of tea so why are you still trying to drink it?

@@KianoUyMOOP I like the idea of "teach fishing instead of just give food approach" by pointing out these tactics (and others) of misusing words and see how it's done, because that way you can see the pattern and don't have to learn every time it's done. You can just see it easier. This tactic of using different words to mislead/hide/gaslight is quite common, so you just need to make people aware of it and eventually it will lose it's power as more see through it. Question things, and think for yourself is required.

The game is made by someone (Erling) supposedly living in Norway, seeming to have lived in and at least still have ties to Brazil. The Direct Contact domain is registered to another norwegian. Mountain 81 LTD is registered in Brazil. The donation section of their site is declared in Brazilian Real. Sounds possible that this guy could be hiding money off-shore from the norwegian tax-system.

Who told developers that guns swaying like a drunkard is "Realism", no one in real life as that horribly bad control of a rifle, even after running/low stamina. Its extremely game breaking. The only reason ARMA 3 has survived is because servers often disable it completely or lower it a great deal.
... I don't think that's the *only* reason for Arma 3 still being relevant. Maybe it's because it's just a good game? No, it's surely weapon sway. That's the key. The weapon sway isn't even that bad in Vanilla Arma 3.

I really hate how every developer nowadays want you to join their discord. Trying to find information on the steam discussions, on reddit or googling, only to be met by "ah sorry bro, you gotta join their discord to reach them/find their announcements/report a bug".. What happened with public information? I ain't interested in joining discord servers for every f-ing game I'm interested in (heck I'm in none, just some private servers). Tbh while this game is shit, half of these Tactical shooter fans don't know what they want. They want PVP they got Ground Branch. RON gives SWAT 4 vibes well it doesn't because the broken AI but I digress. Then you have games like this ie scam or just cooked. Part of it is game devs being shitty plus fans demanding games they either shouldn't be surprised are fails, or have ridiculous expectations then get pissy when they fail. Personally I place the blame on both.

It is so sad to see these guys making games with zero passion & getting paid big bucks for these shovelware games. Most of the game projects I have worked on have been completely volunteer minus a few great opportunities I've found for paid work based on an existing portfolio of my past hard work. I think the people who put big money into these crowd funding projects is truly bizzare.
This is definitely a passion project, the developer was originally working on this game by himself and didnt have any help until maybe a year ago

Reminds me of a guy from Pikabu site (reddit-like, but with good UI and for Russians) who started to produce plate carriers for RUAF. He attracted investments, but instead of selling the products, he was supplying it for free. And now he doesn't get why the investors ask him about their entitlement to a percentage of income when there's no income (the dude didn't specify in the contract that he was gonna do the charity at someone else's expense), and throws shit at them on Pikabu.

That developer is clearly not in a well enough mental state to be interacting with the public. He needs to take a break, get a grasp on reality, realize his job is to provide a product to an audience, and consumers can decide for themselves if they want to buy it or not. If people are saying they don't like your game, they have the right to do so. They don't need to support your game. Developers are not entitled to our money or time just cause they made something. This dev is one of the most delusional developers I've ever seen.
People like him shouldn't make products for others, they can't handle it. They need some cozy job somewhere where no one will ever judge them. He suffers from something many developers, indy and AAA suffer from, a god complex. They think they are some hot stuff making the best thing ever and anyone who says otherwise is bad and a troll. We saw it with Bioware as well when they released Dragon Age 2, they freaked out over any review that gave a score under a 8. They freaked out over people saying it wasn't a great game, they ignored all the constructive feedback cause in their mind they created a masterpiece and what do us none developers know about making games anyway right? By that logic no one can ever say anything about any product unless they actually make it themselves. Thinking that sausage you have on your plate doesn't taste good? Genuinely do not understand how people cannot see the success of something like Palworld that while sure, is not the easiest thing to make but not overtly hard as well if you have any semblance of passion, which has now made millions upon millions. Yet we have losers that make early access have a bad name for other proper devs.

If your game is shit, you take that criticism, you listen to the community, you fix the problems and you make it better. Trying to fight back and tell people they're wrong is career suicide. Developers have to earn respect, not demand it. Something interesting I noticed is at 4:35. Look at the background character and the two patches that are on his chest that are suppose to have words instead have wonky looking scribbles. This background visual could be AI generated as it is known that AI art generators have a difficulty developing words within photos.

If you critic the game on discord he bans you. My friend has a small yt channel and got a free key to "hype" the game. He wasn't allowed to show any bug. The dev told him that it's been a while since et made a video and he respond to him that the last gameplay had a lot of bug and that he would have to reshoot the hole thing if he couldn't show bugs. Yesterday he made a video saying that he wouldn't post anything about the game and explained why. 30 minutes later his game key was ban.

Honestly, games like these remind me a lot of crypto rug pulls. Get the hype going, release a pile of garbage not worth anything, either get mad or promise things will get better and announce a roadmap. Then slowly let the thing die and go sit on a beach somewhere.

According to Steam this is the 'studios' first release? So the guy looked at Escape from Tarkov and thought he could do it better, he was wrong and he needs to check his ego. New studios should be making small 8-bit gaming titles to include vertical and horizontal scrolling games before graduating onto 2d Isometric games and gamers would be wise to demand it of them.

I installed this. The thing I hate the most besides the clunkiness is the weapons sounds are so bad it hurts. And the sound of the rain.. and even the music on the menus are peaking. They all have a lot of distortion. Its really horrible. Another thing is that the scoops from the weapons are too far away from "our screen". It makes no sense at all. Also, all the enemies use bullet tracers. It looks almost like a star wars game. Well, back to Ground Branch.

@@C0kePlaza The loading screen image has the typical cinematic lighting of ai generated images, you can also tell how by how it doesnt know what its trying to be, it doesnt look like a 3d render at all, it looks almost like an artwork but the thing is you cant find anything that signifies a type of brush that was used, every lineart and color just look like they were morphed together in a random generated way. Yes its hard to notice and you could just not care, but its more like a dissapointment knowing the developers would rather be lazy and use a prompt instead of hiring a 3d render artist or an illustrator. Shows how much they dont really give a flying fuck about the game they're making at all.

So they went the easiest route and just ask chatgpt what the definition of "squad leader" is or any of the other class. If you want to throw in some lore into your games, then write. And its also ironic how the lead developer stated that "this games is for anyone that wanted something different" when he uses AI. Brother the only thing thats different or special about this game, is how its gonna go down as the worst developed tactical shooter game in history.

I think the problem with these types of games is that they don’t focus on their game idea enough, in other words, first you need to set the very basic foundation to make your game idea work. For example: if this game wanted to go for realistic military battle simulation, then you have to first make sure that every system that allows this idea to exist on your future project is working( like healing mechanics, shooting, tactical aiming, customization, basic ai functionality ), only after that you polish visuals+ polish basic ui+polish audio In this game literally nothing works, there is no different mechanics and no apparent vision. It’s like they were trying to replicate something man it’s weird

Some devs will never learn the fact that if a game is too realistic, it's not fun. Reason? Because the reality of war is not fun. Not to mention the various game breaking bugs that plague Direct Contact.
And if you are gonna make a game about war, Far Cry 2’s a perfect example. It’s just a backdrop for what your character actually does, and also… there’s an actual game there

Pretty sure Patreon money isn't considered Investment, and that it would be considered more classic patronage to an artist to support their pursuits. If that person wants to spend the money on beer and cigarettes, hookers, or war relief funds, that's up to them and you just get to choose whether to keep supporting them or not.

It might be donation, gratuity, payment for access to product or payment for services but in no way is it investment into a business that comes with any stipulations about where the money goes, nor is there any equity or other aspect. If I pay my barber $20/week and he uses all that money to fund some organization in the Middle East that's his business and I can decide whether I like my patronage of his business being used that way but he's not in the wrong unless what he's doing is illegal. Patreon explicitly states: "While it is discouraged, it is not a violation of our terms if a creator doesn't deliver the expected benefits."
@@scottwatrous On Patreon's site where they describe to creators how to record the money for tax season, its described as "payments for support". Which makes sense since like you said, theres no actual exchange of funds for equity. If there was, that Patreon page on the taxation would look a lot different than it does. Law and tax code have so many caveats so mybe theres already something in place that establishes crowd sources as investors, but from the Patreon page I dont get that vibe that we as backers are seen as "investors".
He reminds me of the German KZheadr Simon Desue who had a giveaway of 500€. But when he didn't give the money he went to a hospital for disabled children and said it would be cruel to ask for the money when it is put into that. Simply he did not want to give away the money and needed an excuse for that. That reminds me of this dev talking about how the money went into charity instead of development. To be honest this is fine when he is transparent with his money, which comes from Patreon. He could take some percentage for his personal life and the other percentage goes into the project.
The Dev recently posted on his Discord a new announcement. He is re-branding everything. His Discord emblem and name has changed, his Discord nickname has changed, his moderators have changed names, he has shut down the Direct Contact KZhead channel and all the original videos are gone along with thousands of subscribers. He started a new one with 32 subscribers. Said KZhead advised him to do this for marketing purposes..lol. He even said he will be making more games. This is starting to look like The Day Before.
I don't understand being hyped for the "potential" of a game anymore, especially when the developer is so unproven. Subbing on Patreon is silly, but buying this game would be insanity.

No I was one of the early play testers and I put in almost 60 hrs testing and this fucktard never did anything to fix any of the bugs in the pre alpha! He was an arrogant asshole who made comments like you might have a skill issue that AI was killing you from 300 meters in a dense Forrest with extreme foliage! His cronie Lemon had the nerve to tell us to look deep in the woods to see the AI' feet splashes to engage enemies! As we got more pushy with wanting results and was giving him more and more feed back he had revoked some of our privileges on discord and even one of us got his game key revoked! He broke the pre alpha build so bad he basically couldn't fix it and went to rebuild the game again telling his patron members who was funding it that he was rebuilding to the newest Unreal 5 updated version but we all knew it was bullshit so we dipped the fuck out! Guy has been scamming people for years if you go back in his discord and follow all of his rebuilds and broken promises!

This is definitely a case where you ended up in a bubble when engineering a product, you become proud of what you've created. However, customers do not care about the effort you have put in, only the results, so he was probably very proud of what he achieved. As he was completely new to game development, learning as he went along and became frustrated when customers don't see all the "effort" he put in, even though everything is put toghether amateurly. Seems to be an common occurrence in indie development.

The whole discord is a massive cope. The lead dev has called a discord member gay (with a reaction emoji) for asking how to refund the game. The mods and devs openly combat opinions that aren’t absolute praise for the game and anyone who expresses discontent or disapproval of the product are literally banned. The “community” is an echo chamber of “it’s a great game you just don’t understand real mil-sim bro.” This project is absolutely doomed. I feel awful for the ones who gave money to this.

This is so fucking vindicating for me. I got "lucky" and got access to the game in APRIL '23. Have booted it up 10 or 15 times over the course of 11 months and every.single.time I feel exactly how you're feeling throughout this video. I kept seeing GLID gaming and others playing it and looking like they were enjoying it, and kept wondering what the fuck I was missing. So I'd boot it up, and play for 15 minutes until the frustration got the better of me and I'd rage quit having accomplished almost NOTHING every time. For a while I thought I was just fucking retarded. It wasn't until the last few times that I was like "Ok, yeah this game is absolute hot fucking garbage." Finally seeing all these steam reviews has made me feel so much better. I honestly hope nothing but good things for the game, but at this point, seeing how the dev has been handling himself and the lack of progress that seems to have been made in almost a year, it's not looking good. Thanks for the content Fry!
