  • Great video with lots of very nice points and demonstrations of how it actually is training a dog. Very good👍🏼💪

  • It's refreshing to watch a video of a dog that isn't already trained for the drills being run. Thank you for posting.

  • I love how you are showing how to work through the rebellious stage with a young dog. Not something you see often on these training videos. This will help me a lot when my 5 month/20 week old Setter x GWP hits that stage. She is doing great so far with basic gundog puppy training, but I know the rebellious stage WILL happen. Thank you Charlie and Waffle 😊

  • Thank you very much for showing this! I have found so many trainers only show puppies up to about 6 months, and then dogs from like 2 years. They don't show the part in adolescence where sometimes you have to go backwards or drill the basics over and over....just because they had it at 5 months before the hormones and hunting instincts kicked in doesn't mean you're finished!!

  • I’m grateful for this video because it reminds me that even pro trainers and well bred doggos can have frustrating moments. Thanks for keeping it real! Onwards and upwards, wee Waffle 💪

  • Have to come back in to say again, thanks for showing this, and would love if you could do a video on working through developmental stages with dog training please! I found your videos when my Springer was about 8 or 9 months old and I was beating myself up a bit that he was not in the same place as Waffle, who was younger. But he had been there, and was just kicking into tricky adolescence time! It's so great to see how you're handling that period with Waffle and would love to hear about how you decide what to do at what times and what you expect from your dogs at different ages.

  • My springer went off the tracks at 9/10 months. I took a month off and started over from the beginning. It worked. At 20 months she is coming along wonderfully. These are great lessons.

  • Brilliant videos .. flaws and all … my staffie was the same at 10 months literally overnight acted like he hadn’t been trained and had to go back to the basics. Didn’t last long but he certainly pushed buttons 😂😂

  • My spaniel is literally a waffle twin, he knows what he can and can't get away with, so we do a lot of clear voice tone changes, lots of setting up for success, and lots of smaller spaces mixed in with some very few bigger spaces. right now our biggest peeve is whining when sitting still so we are working on it daily. Just before the walk, we wait a few minutes of stillness and then off we trot. I think it stims from anxiety and anticipation.

  • I think Waffle might have got himself an agent while you were across the pond...He can smell the fame. Another great video, I find your training style extremely easy on the eye...constructive criticism from a purely personal/selfish pov (I am a dog trainer myself), would be that a lot of the material in the videos is repetitive, however I do recognise that the fundamentals can never be repeated enough. (Can I get a signed photo of Waffle🤣)

  • I love these videos so much. It's one of the few videos to actually show the real progress and that includes the ups AND the downs. There a thousands of dog training videos out there but only very few go into detail let alone show how to handle a situation when things don't go according to plan.

  • Thank you for showing the good the bad and the ugly to cocker training! You’re the ONLY one to show the realness and I don’t think trainers realise how beneficial this is to people that are struggling with their crazy cockers! You show that it takes time and repetition but you obviously get there in the end because you and your dogs have such a good reputation that they are wanted all over the world. If I was waffles future owner watching this though, I’d call you and say keep him for another year please 😂😂😂 … only joking 🙃… thanks again! You’ve inspired me to do some training today. Through this, I can see my cocker is actually doing REALLY well at what I’ve managed to teach him so far. So in a way you’ve praised our efforts without even knowing!

  • It can't be easy for Waffle, a transatlantic film star that is so photogenic. Probably a it like you, Charlie. Cockers jumping into your arms is cute and, hahaha, fun for the first year but when you get out shooting, they're covered in mud and the worst of a dairy farm yard, it loses its appeal. (Speaking from experience).

  • Waffle is identical to our Cocker who is about to turn 8 months so can relate a lot. Since hitting 7 months he has got really difficult to work with compared to in the past, is it just a case of keep doing what we have always done and eventually he will come back round? He still has all the abilities he had before, just seems to be more picky over whether he is going to listen!

  • If more dog training videos on KZhead were like yours there might be less people with untrained dogs. So many dog trainers and TV shows make it look like problems are solved in 10 minutes. When this doesn't happen in real life they blame the dog and give up.

  • Morning Charlie- I find your video training videos inspiring and very honest- I’ve trained working dogs in a very novice level and fall down on basic things- questions- in the first weeks with a home trained Cocker Spaniel puppy can over Crate your puppy " or do you let him have freedom? Thank you for your brilliant videos 👍🤠

  • Great vidio of hands on young cocker spaniel training, got to say it takes a lot of hard hours and bags of patients to train a cocker to a good standard, take my hat off to you sir 👏 Have a one year old cocker dog I’m training , and boy he is a lively character and very testing. Will he steady down in a years time ? All my training so far is basic retrieves and steadiness. Is this normal for a young cocker ? Keep the videos comeing . .
