Song?
Can anyone tell me the name of the technique at 1:10 pls?
This is real Judo, he senses the unbalance of the opponent and uses it to take him down in a nanosecond, unbelievable!...
MONSTER
Beautiful technique. I just have to say though that Judo scoring has really become absurd over the years. An ippon should be a hard throw with force, squarely to the back. This symbolizes a ko that would occur off the mat. Now ippon is often called whenever the back just touches the mat. You see some of these rolling through techniques where there is absolutely no back impact. Some takedown techniques I would even consider the matwork phase, but because motion never stopped, it is still considered part of the throw.
Yeah the definition has definitely changed. Ippons could be better, but I like the point system these days
@@JudoHighlights2015 thanks for the reply. I just retired from Judo when they started the more aggressive ippon scoring and banning all the lower body techniques to take the European (etc) advantage away. Unfortunately, this greatly discouraged the wrestling and BJJ crossovers that were ramping up, I believe from the success of MMA. Either way though, you have to admit, all the scoring and rule changes have given you less to highlight reel. Im an old school player for the rules, but progressive on the techniques and inclusion. Unfortunately, judo died in my area of the US as it became less dimensional. I still love Judo and the amazing athletes that you showcase.
Sad to hear what happened in your area
Eric Craig The banning of lower body techniques had nothing to do with the european advantage. The IJF gradually was pressurized by the Olympic committee because Judo was simply too similar to wrestling and the question arise, why it should still be an olympic sport. Actually a lot of Russian/Georgian/Uzbek fighters and Federations were in favour of that change, as they are huge fans of Judo and especially Judo in the Olympics. As for cross training BJJ/Wrestling and Judo: You might be influenced by it since you are US citizen. But in the majority of the countries were Judo is practiced BJJ and wrestling are almost non-existent in the context of Judo. It is simply not as big as in the US. The exception being countries such as Russia and Georgia, who have a strong wrestling tradition. In my opinion, Judo got more exciting. We don‘t have fighters anymore, who jump into his opponent going for sloppy double-legs.
@@samuelfortuzi8847 good article on all this. www.judolink.club/2010-2016-IJF-no-leg-grab-rules.html In the initial change, I believe there were multiple reasons. What I mentioned would never get discussed publicly. Changing rules right before the Olympics had a terrible impact. Guys trained their whole lives, and had to change their whole game. There have been countless disqualifications over the years. Does anyone know how the rules impacted the sport growth? Are less people or more people doing judo? Anyway, the article is great.
Which technique at 3:15? What is it called? Ficking fast
