for real! I think Esther needs to accept the fact that she's into being poly because I think Jack seems like an amazing partner and he's super open-minded and stuff. Esther is the one getting defensive even when her partner isn't. She just needs to look inward and process all of this instead of trying to hide in her monogamous relationship. Jack seems like a good guy and doesn't deserve her lying about her true feelings when he's not even mad at it all. He deserves an honest conversation about what's going on with Esther's true feelings.

Most people struggling to understand polyamory & what their dynamics would be usually go through some complicated emotions. I think they would be a really wonderful polycule. If they could work a little more on their communication style. She just needs to open up a tiny bit is all. Let's give our girl some love. I DO agree about wishing he had spoken up in that moment, I think it would have changed the trajectory of the situation & if he was guiding it, I think the bf would have chilled a bit.
Daniel speaking up would've been an out for Esther. This way she's being confronted directly about her feelings, which is the root of the issue

Being overwhelmed with the constraints of mononormativity is not the same as needing therapy. People aren't perfect and Esther is clearly overwhelmed by the possibilities for non-monogamy, which are just way harder to navigate starting out. Daniel and Dana have the benefit of experience, Jack has the benefit of resting on his pseudo-mononormative high grounds. Judging from recent and former comments he wouldn't be cool at all with Esther proposing non-monogamy.

Fully paywalling this series somewhere like Patreon with the current viewership would be a weird move, but I’m sure if they wanted to make this long form they’d need a bigger budget and creators gotta eat too ya know. Sadly nowadays subscription based platforms are dominating the media industry so if they got an offer to make this a full on TV show it would likely end up somewhere like Netflix - but if that day comes I’m sure their decision won’t be swayed by my little comment expressing a desire for longer episodes. I’m just saying their writing and acting is on par with the quality of media a lot of us are already paying for :)

I gotta be so real here... This conflict almost entirely falls on Esther's inability to be honest about her feelings to herself and others. Edit to add: I don't think Esther is ENTIRELY responsible, but a lot of the problems with Esther and Daniel's interplay have developed due to Esther's wishy-washy communication with Daniel about her own feelings. Daniel could and should handle himself better and stand up for himself instead of falling into this "will-they-won't-they" dynamic, but at least he has been honest about his feelings for Esther.
She just WILL NOT be honest about her feelings and it's driving me fucking insane. Like oh my GOD Esther, for fucks sake just SAY IT. But I love how Jack called her out and went "You were about to say something for once" 😂
Daniel also ducked, and did not make that easier for her. I do agree most of the fault is hers, but even there he could and should have been honest and proactive imo.

He constantly crossed her boundaries and pushed her to do things she wasn't comfortable with. He has continually shown a lack of respect for Esther and Jack's relationship. But in this particular situation? Esther needs to just speak up and make her honest feelings known. Jack isn't stupid, and the lack of communication on her part is going to push him away

Then when Daniel and Esther got 6 Jack just looked at Esther saying “I don’t know” and they went for it. Esther could’ve asked Jack if that was okay. You could tell Jack was hesitant and uncomfy… I had a feeling it was not gonna end well 😢

I think unavailable in a way that all of their interactions have been very flirty but doesn't result in something serious. Esther and Daniel have always been like "I don't like you" when clearlyyy they like each other. It's also the weird dynamic that may come after a confession and Esther still being their roomate. Dana's still right they are being hissy sissy and need to grow some balls 😅. I'm still curious (&hopeful) what's gonna happen to them lol.

I love how in spite of Esther's pathological inability to be honest with herself or anyone else about her real feelings owing to her crippling fear of abandonment, Jack is too emotionally mature and perceptive to fall for it and can see right through her. He is FINALLY calling her out on her shitty treatment of him - he WAS the 2nd choice, and she basically slipped up and admitted it in response to him calling her out on it. "It must have been love, but it's over now."
