Maurice Cooper No bud, all of them. Those ones are worth more, but they are all holding their value. A clean one goes for $20k-$30k right now....doubt they'll get any cheaper. You're literally getting a Viper motor, that's money.

Its not that bad i average 16mpg
how the hell do you average 16? even with 90/10 highway/city driving I only averaged 13 mpg with cruise control at 65 mph. of course I have 305 Toyo Open country mt tires on but even that wouldn't bring it to 16
Same here. Got 21 on a long highway run before.... better than the regular RAM at the time.

Had one of these and had to fill up with gas on way to fill up with gas. lol Certainly no practicality to these but you sure could surprise a lot of people with them.
McLovin sad thing is I have a quad cab 5.7 and I get 10mpg city and its not nearly as fun as the srt 10
my ram srt10 gets better mpg than my ram daytona. dont know why even though its 1mpg guess more power for the heavy body. they both got daytona wings

Phillip Berk I'm 90% Sure that 2 doors were only stick shift. Myself and everyone on the forums have never seen a 2 door in an automatic.
Ramiro Rivera who cares about a clutch. It's built to handle the power. There's a reason this truck is so slow in this video. It's called a 4 speed auto.
97jag440 Back in the day I read about a handicapped guy that got a regular cab he wanted the automatic so he traded transmissions with a four-door Somewhere out there there is an automatic 2 door and a manual 4 door
The interior for a car from 2006 looks very nice. Doesn't look verry outdated.
The v10, was originally designed for the truck. It was in the 2500 ram. Then, dodge decided to produce the viper. They took the truck v10 and added power, then installed it in the viper body. History was born.

MrRcw79 considering these trucks held the worlds fastest production truck title up to 2016. I'm going to call bullshit. The best performing HD F150 ever made was .8 slower to 60 and 1 second slower in the quarter compared to the quad cab SRT10....... LMAO

They started making the ram srt10 in 2004
One story I heard about the Mopar V-10 was that it was originally a Lambo Boat Motor. Also heard that it started out as a 318 with 2 extra cylinders and kept growing in cid as the HP demands increased.
BDOG JR the 8.0l v10 was just the 5.9l with two extra cylinders same with ford with the 6.8l v10 being the 5.4l v8 with two extra cylinders.
Hey 318 : Love that name ! I owned a 34ft motorhome with the Triton V-10 in it and that mudsucker was fun to drive. I sold it to a retired Trucker & on the test drive You would have thought it was a Mustang GT.

Hopefully you'll be lucky enough to drive an rc version with a 6 speed manual. You think the qc was dumb fun try a the 2 door as you row your own gears.

i have a 2 door 6 speed cherry red manual as well and man can i say i have way to much fun
Also to get the full SRT-10 experience I would say the regular cab would have been much better. 6 speed manual vs 4 speed auto. The transmission kills the fun in the quad cab. Also the regular cab is a lot lighter. Nonetheless, badass trucks.
Back in 2009ish my friends and I were in a SRT club. I had the Magnum SRT8 and all were covered from SRT4 Neon, SRT6 Crossfire , many SRT8 versions , charger , 300 , magnum . From factory the SRT6 was the fastest . My buddy had the White single cab SRT10 and he would get beat by the Ford SVT lightning, which is what this truck was to compete with.

SmokinAce 89 yes Ford definitely won the sport truck award . We won't even mention the Chevy SS. For anyone who is a real vehicle enthusiast and not a Brand fanboy Ford appears to be leading the way in almost all categories . Between the Raptor , RS , coyote mustangs and power stroke diesels they really have their bases covered. I'm not a Ford rep lol . Wife has a Dodge SUV and I drive a JDM Subaru.
01GTB Daily Just a clarification, but the Ram SRT10 was not produced to be an F150 Lightning competitor. Magazines and enthusiast sites will make the comparison. The SRT10 was built as the Lightning was discontinued. It was during a full revamp of the Chrysler Jeep Dodge lines including expansion of the SRT division. It introduced the return of the old muscle car names and designs like in the 300, Charger and magnum. The Hemi was back, the large crosshair grill, RWD, etc. American muscle returned. Well,that was much of the press they were putting forth. The Ram SRT10 just like the demon today was build, just because... if you go back and watch the press event for the Ram SRT10 back in 03/04, it will look very similar to the Demon launch. Either way, I was lucky ehough back in 04-06 to have/drive these trucks, and even still own one today, but I have an RC with the 6spd manual. It is a ridiculous vehicle, that serves no purpose other than to put a smile on your face. That being said, if I wanted an early 2000's sport truck to run the 1/4, the Lightning is the best option. It's significantly smaller and lighter than the Ram, and with some minor changes (pulleys) could be made much quicker. Plus parts for the ford were much cheaper than for the viper engine. Either way, I love my truck since where else can you find a full sized Pick up with a Tremec T56 (or newer equivalent) and 500hp+ in todays world. Sorry for the long post.
Jeremy Kaplan I will admit the SRT10 wasn't built as a Lightning competitor but it was in fact it's only competition at the time. So the comparison was made by consumers. I do disagree on the part of the Demon though. The demon was purpose built because Dodge like the rest of us Dodge watched a little company named Tesla create an electric car that would beat their Hellcat down a strip of blacktop as well as in the streets. Myself like the rest of the world are eagerly waiting a response from Tesla. Just my opinion though.
01GTB Daily um no, ford is not leading the game the RS is in a class of its own ill admit as far as domestic goes but as awesome as the coyote is to tolerate boost lets not forget about the trash chinese manual they put in them. The raptor as cool as it is there is a reason you don't see as many of them on the the road as when the 1st gens came out. No one wants a bad ass rally truck with an engine it that sounds like a tacoma regardless of how many turbos or fuel systems it has. The powerstroke is still a unproven inferior diesel power train in my eyes. So no ford is not leading the game from my opinion. - a FORMER ford fan boy

Fyi, you said back in 06. More like back in 03, that's when they announced them. Starting producing them in 04. Dodge made them to compete with the SVT Lightning at the time.
They wernt made to compete with the lightning, its just that was the only truck to compete with

I live in rural NC Not much city driving around here .. Two door manual shift . Average about 14 MPG . Bigger secondary roads .. long trip some interstate 19 MPG Best I have gotten was 21 MPG 55 mph coming home from Greensborro . Down town Sanford about 5 MPG .

Tell the owner to get a new steering wheel. My buddy has a regular cab with the 6 speed manual. It's quite fun for a big truck. It handles and brakes amazing and surprises a lot of people from stoplights.

The original Viper's V10 came out of the late 90's truck (2500 I think?) not the other way around
cutthroat795 I'm glad someone said it. The first gen Viper's powerplant was originally from a truck. Of course the internals were upgraded, but not by much. So fitting the V10 into the then SRT10 truck was very simple. It actually looks like it belongs in that truck to start with; plenty of room (if you know what I mean)
Not true at all the 8.0L V10 from the Ram 2500 shared nothing with the 1992 Viper V10. The Viper's V10 is more like a 340 with two extra cylinders casted in aluminum. Since there is a huge difference between iron and aluminum the blocks had to be cast completely different from one another to ensure strength for the new aluminum block set to enter the Viper.
97jag440 I stand corrected. But like any classic reply I'm still gonna stand on the fact that the v10 wasn't foreign to the fitting in that engine compartment at the time. I actually think it was quite simple for Dodge to pull this off
Just to add, although the Viper V10 was borrowed from what they had intended to use in their '94 2500 and 3500 series trucks, the Viper and truck engines do have several differences. The trucks used a iron block vs. Viper's aluminum block. Also, Viper had a different intake manifold, oil pan, heads, dual throttle bodies, and as you mentioned, upgraded and strengthened internals. The Viper did not have a large budge for R&D back then, hence why they borrowed the truck engine and modified it to make it work in a sports car application. Plus, the V10 itself at its core was based off their 5.9L V8 engine.

I remember seeing thease new first the 05s we got a 03 hemi then traded it in for an 04 hemisport and we were gona get one of thease in 05 but didnt i remember seenng the night runner srt10 that one looked sinister

I have plans to swap that motor and trans into a different truck. In theory it should get a little bit better gas mileage and be faster, a concept version was made but never made it to mass production

I have a 2002 2wd 4 door ram 1500 with the almighty 4.7. I have a real viper drivetrain and a real 392 challenger drivetrain all sitting in the same shop. Thanks to Copart,,,lol Financially, I have to make the decision which one is going in, in a few months. It's tough
Ive seen quite a few of these in europe, probably becouse trucks have a 90% discounzt on othervise HUGE road taxes, so why wouldn't you just go with a v10 for just a fraction higher taxes than standard 5,7 . Anyway great video keep up the good work been here from 600 subscribers(although i told you that before ) 100k is not far away. And I hope we will get to see some cadillac reviews(i'm still in the market for the ats)

My cousin's ex-husband used to have an SRT10 Ram reg cab back in 2003. It was the gnarliest truck I've seen, but I guess one of many reasons why he had divorce.

Everyone will say there not, they get old and break like everything else but I've had 3 and there fine. The only problem I ever had was the 2005s and the suspension problems, but then again I rather that then an ignition fire. Oh, and my transmission was defective some how it made weird noises, but never left me stranded or anything and Dodge gave me a new one free.

Get in a single cab with the 6 speed and a lot less weight and drive that one. Different story there, 10x more fun. Those quad cabs are auto only and single cabs are manual only. Btw these are 2004-2006 production trucks
test drive a turned up cummins my 2011 is pushing 600 horse easily and it would walk the srt10

Id daily drive it really wouldn't care about gas the tank is 24 gallon so thats good enough . id drive it everywhere wouldnt care, drop it down in 1st shift it out bro! Take it out over drive mode lol, i want a 05 crew cab since they come with 1500 chassis and better on insurance . The 06 is heavier 2500 chasis and insurance is high due to they only made the srt kit for that one year only

find a single cab srt10. those come with a 6 speed manual transmission. way better than the automatic. my uncle has had his since 06
I had a 2006 SRT-10. Two door. Manual. Silver. Bought it new. Got 8 mpg. Loved it, until a drunk girl ( who i knew) jumped in it as it was idling and took off. Needless to say she smashed it into the only sign in a parking lot. Lot was the size of two football fields. 13K worth of damage later, I sold it and bought a Magnum SRT-8.

Tonys ToolBox 2004-2006 for the SRT 10. The HD trucks did have their own V10 for a while.
