  • My teenage son is our chief DIY-er and he says the most important skills he's learned are 1. Squirt it with WD40 and 2. If all else fails, whack it with a hammer. It makes me chuckle when you do those things too! Great job on the toaster, thanks for sharing

    • @@baire702 yes it is a water displacement to prevent rust but it is also a lubricant / solvent “WD-40 is an American brand and the trademark of a *penetrating oil* manufactured by the WD-40 Company based in San Diego, California. Its formula was invented for the Rocket Chemical Company in 1953, before it became the WD-40 Company. WD-40 became available as a commercial product in 1961. *It acts as a lubricant, rust preventive, penetrant and moisture displacer* . There are specialized products that perform better than WD-40 in each of these uses, but WD-40's flexibility has given it fame as a jack of all trades.WD-40 stands for Water Displacement, 40th formula.”

    @conleykat@conleykat5 ай бұрын
    • First you need to remove the old seasoning from the pan. You can season it again using sunflower oil.

      @AntiqueVintageRestoratioNs@AntiqueVintageRestoratioNs5 ай бұрын
    • Cast iron can be seasoned with any oil that has a relatively high smoke point. My go-to is usually vegetable shortening because it's easy to apply (just rub it on like a paste) and is virtually flavorless. Whatever you can afford and/or are comfortable using should work fine.

    • You are very careful.Seasoning should be in very thin layers.Due its low quality production method the aluminium plates had too much little cracks.I had to apply thick layers to cover them.Thanks for watching. ❤️❤️❤️

      @AntiqueVintageRestoratioNs@AntiqueVintageRestoratioNs6 ай бұрын
    • @AntiqueVintageRestoratioNs Still didn't season it correctly. I've been an executive chef for 30 years. I've seasoned literally thousands of cooking surfaces. That I can tell it wasn't done correctly by just seeing says how badly it was done. You didn't get it hot enough. Nor did you clean it correctly before you seasoned it.

  • That was difficult to watch, just a bodge job. Amazed it worked and even more amazed you cooked on it what with all the rust that was on the bottom half AFTER the so-called restoration.

    @userone7487@userone74877 ай бұрын
    • After the cleaning process is completed, there is no trace of rust left. Rust already forms on many products in our house and we continue by cleaning it. It was very delicious. Thank you for watching and liking the video.

      @AntiqueVintageRestoratioNs@AntiqueVintageRestoratioNs7 ай бұрын
    • Not to mention the rust is fake, painted copper paint. Watch a few videos about fake restorations and come back to this video you’ll see the outer coat of “rust” is cooked/boiled on with copper paint 😂
