  • I heard this just in time. First Ramadan for me and figuring out Iftar is not always easy. Calling out for pizza was sounding good today but instead I will use the simpler stuff that I already have at home. Ramadan Mubarak. May a healthier world be sustained.

  • I have been on this case for many years, striving to encourage people to seek not only ‘halal’ but also ‘tayyib’ means of sustenance, and I use the modern ‘chicken’ industry as an example of what may be ‘halal’ but not ‘tayyib’ as it lacks ethics in production and rearing.

  • Wonderful. This has been on my conscious for years when I look into the deep freeze in supermarkets at so called halal chickens. I just feel that they are not really halal and tayyib. Very often I opt to cook a vegetarian meal instead. Would love to have access to organic halal meat of a high standard (currently living in a Middle Eastern country).

  • Riyad as-Salihin 1851 Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "O people! Allah is Pure and, therefore, accepts only that which is pure. Allah has commanded the believers as He has commanded His Messengers by saying: 'O Messengers! Eat of the good things, and do good deeds.' (23:51) And He said: 'O you who believe (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism)! Eat of the lawful things that We have provided you..."' (2:172). Then he (ﷺ) made a mention of the person who travels for a long period of time, his hair are dishevelled and covered with dust. He lifts his hand towards the sky and thus makes the supplication: 'My Rubb! My Rubb!' But his food is unlawful, his drink is unlawful, his clothes are unlawful and his nourishment is unlawful, how can, then his supplication be accepted?" [Muslim].

I was speaking to a man from Pakistan in the month of Ramadan we were on the bus going home I gave him his salams and it turned out he was not impressed with Islam at all he said a young was boy was fasting in a hot country he unfortunately died due to dehydration. All in the name of god it makes me wonder

    • Somewhere a child ate something when he was not fasting and died of anaphylactic shock. All in the name of eating 😉. Its a petty excuse to blame god. Allah never commanded to kill children by making them fast in sickness, its not compulsory before puberty, and it is permissible to break fast if situation calls for it.

I don’t think all the British Muslims can afford to buy “Organic , Free Ranged, Sustainable, Cruelty Free Halal Chicken” no , most of them can buy the chicken bought from the local Asian superstore , and what’s wrong with that?
