Google Pixel 7 Pro - I’ve spent the last few weeks with this phone really getting to know it inside and out - and I wanted to share my thoughts and story with you. Bear in mind this is the very first time I’ve used an Android phone.
The Pixel 7 Pro has some great tricks up it’s sleeve as well - but will it make me ditch my iPhone 14 Pro?

WOW - thank you. So glad you liked it and thank you for taking time to comment and watch! 🙏🏻
@DavidLewisTech ur welcome sir U keep talking how seamless Apple ecosystem, i think u need to know how seamless this video, its very surreal Sorry my english is bad, i hope u understand

Okay I was definitely not expecting that collab!!! Great job both of you!! SUBBED!!
Thanks for the sub!
Great video. Loved seeing Alex ❤
cheers man - I am all over it. This week will be my take on the Nothing 2....🎙
I’ve been using Apple since 2013 and after a tonne of research I’ve just ordered the Pixel 7 Pro sight unseen. I’m no stranger to Android using back before 2013. I have pretty much retained using all Google/Alexa products since then so I don’t think it will be a shock. Am looking forward to the experience to be honest. No regrets!
I honestly think you'll be delighted with it - I've been so impressed!
Thanks mate. Goid review. Im buying. 👌
Hope you enjoy it! It's a great phone....
Good video man, just stumbled across your channel. I have and love both the iPhone and the pixel as well.
cheers man! Just about to start recording this weeks video - all about the Nothing Phone 2!

Great delivery. I don't know if you completely using a teleprompter, an outline, or a combination of both, but it seems like your presentation was a lot more fluid and natural. I also enjoyed the editing. It feels simple, but there is plenty of B roll to keep our attention. This is the best video I've seen from you thus far.
Oh wow! Thank you. There was no script at all for all 20 minutes. I’d written my blog in the morning I recorded the video and used that as a reference. The only thing I’m annoyed I forgot was the haptic feedback! Thank you - low views I know but I’m happy with the video
Great video, just subscribed to your channel, keep it going mate
FANTASTIC fella - a great start to the week for me. That sb helps so much! I wanna get the Nothing phone on here to check out...working on the next video today. It'll be out later this week may man!

hey man - thank you. Going to be working on the follow =up video today...will bear that in mind...thanks for reaching out and getting involved fella

Definitely agree on the case aspect, the visor at the back help with grip but it's still quite slippery! And yes, Android has really moved on quite a bit recently
its such a shame, because the phone is beautiful to hold. Those curved edges and wrap around screen are gorgeous, but glossy front and back makes it super slippery! I've enjoyed the Google Pixel so far - has truly opened my eyes to Android!
@@DavidLewisTechThe curved edges are a bit of a double edged sword I think mate and an acquired taste I think , as an old android boy , imo the curved edges have been done to death since the the galaxy edge(note 4) , I’ve had three android phones with curved edge screen and had mixed feelings about them , but vowed to not have another , in my case the flat screen of the big iPhone ( I’ve been on iPhones since the 12 pro max)was very nice , and the more utilitarian flat sides seems easier to hold onto at least for my biggish hands. if dropped the wrong way from a low height on the edge , a big chance of breaking the curved edge screen , and they are so dam slippery , and also good luck trying to find a tempered glass screen that won’t lift on the edges in a very short time , even the expensive glued on ones , and I tried many. One of my favourite phones ever was the galaxy S8+ , it’s pebble like cohesive design with not a single protrusion other than buttons was a pure work of art imo , now and again I’d take it out of the case and wash the shimmery black with finger prints off it and admire the beauty of the design , then I’d quickly put it back in the ugly case 😊, but I do appreciate everyone has different likes and dislikes. Cheers.
I bought my friend an older, used Pixel, just so he could give Android a try. He was blown away by Android, but still will not leave Apple for the same reasons this gent stated. Too bad. The Apple ecosystem is great, but it turns users into zombies.
this week has been a real eye-opener for me...Android is really good and certainly caught my attention...more thoughts coming this week

I gotta a feeling I may be trying out the 8!
"Recently, I shifted to the 6 Pro and day by day, I'm just falling in love with this device. I'm enjoying the pure Android experience, and the camera is performing like a DSLR, which is not bad at all.. and the google updates are very satisfying.

Is pixel software experience better than ios ?? If yes , how ? Since iOS is very fluid
@@rahulmhatre8337 not better necessarily - but les corporate and more individual if that makes any sense?

Enjoyed the video. I have heard things have gotten a lot better on Android. I am certainly curious.
hi there - yeah David, I came in to this as blinkered and biased as could be, but its good, ever so good. I am not ready to change, but hell yeah, Android has caught up!
I have an i phone 11 so it’s definitely a new phone for me. Im thinking apt getting the 7 pro unless the 8 pro is going to be the same price. If not I’ll stick to the 7 pro for a couple of years
I got it on impulse at work break normally have Samsung but want a change, dropped my s20 plus 5g model and finally it cracked screen so here we are .. also got the pixel 7 Pro buds with it , i normally watch read reviews 1st but oh well. Looking forward to different hopefully I won't regret it
hope you enjoy it! 🙏🏻
I'm a android user but this is the best review I watched. Try the Samsung phone next. That phone really going to blow your mind. Great great review
hi ya and thanks for the great comments fella! I've just bought the Nothing 2 and will be looking at that this week...I'll save up for the Samsung, but definitely tempted to have a look now...
For the videos, you were shooting in HDR on the pixel, that's why it was so bright and blown out at first
yup - you are spot on. The more I use the Pixel though, the more I love the cameras!! Great to hear from you.
One of the main reasons I'm using the Pixel 7 pro is for the call screening and spam detection.
damn - I need to cover that!! Thank you!! 🤛🏻
The problem with the battery is that the Tensor G2 is less efficient than the Snapdragon 8 Gen2. The DeepLearning architecture may draw a relatively large amount of power.
what are you excited about for the Pro 8 this year?
In terms of photography the pixel is unmatched by any smartphone
hi there - I was super impresssed by it! I have just got my hands on the Nothing 2 and will be testing/comparing that this week Steven
Google pixel with snapdragon chipset inside will be 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
wondering if I should skip iPhone 15 to review and buy the Pixel 8 instead?
Love pixel phones and they do have the best still camera around…. BUT as you said, it’s the eco system, I’m locked in with iOS and I hate that lol
I'm toying with the idea of buying the Pro 8 this year for the channel...good idea do you think?
@@DavidLewisTech I definitely think so. My biggest complaint with the Pixel 7 Pro was its curved display and weak speakers. I watch a lot of content without my headphones at home, the 14 Pro has some of the most amazing speakers for a phone, enough that I could care less about headphones when I'm at home. Add in Google's superb computational photography and it would be the whole package. Apple hasn't been innovating for years now, they're just milking us iOS users and it's sad really.
hi ya - I'm not sure whether to buy the 15 for revue or not - the Pixel Pro 8 seems almost more tempting...@@T-eee-L
after 10 years plus using iphone only I decided to preorder the pixel 7 pro after almost a year of using it I'm ready to give up my pixel and go back to the iPhone the only reason is because of heat this phone gets really hot but I will be back when Google fix this problem I'm not into getting no other Android phone I only love the pixel because of the stock android by the way I never own a Samsung phone.
hi there - do you tyhink I should try out the Pixel 8? As I mentioned I did notice the heat issues myself with the 7.
Video is still in front with the iphone imo, when panning it ( 7 pro )was less than good , and some people have mentioned serious heating issues with the pixel 7 pro in some circumstances , may be less of an issue in cool climate , but this one issue would give me reservations. Some of the extra convenience features on the pixel do look handy though. 20:33
hey - how ya doing? Yeah, the iPhone still wins on the camera/video front and the heating thing is a serious problem too - possibly why the battery life is not as good as it should be...this weeks video will be a full tear down on the Nothing 2!
@@DavidLewisTech look forward to it mate , cheers.
@@DavidLewisTech Video yes by a small margin. Camera? oh hell no. I had the iphone 14 pro and yeh it took good pictures, but couldn't zoom to save it's life, and when it did it was extremely grainy and noisy photos.
as I am having to buy gear myself I am actually torn between buying iPhone 15 or Pixel 8 to review....@@SetsukaAi210
The battery works via learning your usage patterns for a week or 2, then it adapts, its from that point you start seeing proper battery life
I'll keep monitoring it...Joel
@@DavidLewisTech Monitoring won't work. you actually have to use it consistantly for that week or 2 so it can learn your usage before it optimizes your battery usage.

15:35 - 100%! I use Pixel for my scripts, all my scripts start on dictating on the Pixel.
I can see why now!! Damn it's good!
Well pixel 7 pro is an amazing phone... Mine has had network issues due to some manufacturing defects, got it replaced... Still not sure about the reception quality.. Network does fluctuate quite a bit but its much better than the first device I got... This shouldn't be an issue looking at how far phones have come..! Making a phone call without disturbances should be their first priority on a phone!!
Hey - great to hear from you - thank you 🙏🏻 My call quality has been fine, but as you say that can depend on location more than anything. I hope Google were good in sorting your replacement too. I've been reviewing the Nothing 2 recently and their customer care is atrocious! Hopefully your experience with Google was more positive. And yes, isn't it odd how the one things smartphones often do badly is actually act as a phone! 🫢
@@DavidLewisTech exactly... I don't know is it the 5G setting or what but network on the pixel surely isn't as good as on the iPhone here... The service at Google was pretty neat.. First time they got it picked up from my place and delivered it right back after repairing... Second time I decided to visit the walk-in centre to personally see what is happening... They just told me I'll get a replacement and took my phone in... No questions, no arguments... But the replacement took a long time as pixel 7 series was out of stock and they had to import it... It took 3 weeks n they literally had no updates for 3 weeks... I would call them every day to check n all they'd say was we'll get bk within 48hrs... Finally got a call 3 weeks later from the walk-in centre to pick up the device... Sealed pack... Brand new... I believe the service was even better than Apple because they accepted the flaw n did not force me to buy a new phone!
thats something I guess - at least you did get the replacement even if it did take 3 weeks. I've had two dealings with Apple this year online, and they have not been great either. May be they have all forgotten that we are the customers...they need to buck their ideas up!@@kiranmudnaney
@@DavidLewisTech agree 👍
We all had the network issue in the beginning. It was a software issue that Pixel fixed. Far as call reception quality, you need to turn on the option that adjusts your calls based on your surroundings, it clears that right up. Far as call drops, that's the cell signal tbh. I got the same issue with my iphone 14 pro and my Samsung s23 ultra. It's that each phone uses different modems tech and each carrier uses different signals. A case could also be the issue as some cases for some odd reason block off the antennae strip on the phone. Where I live I get low bars, but still have 5G+ on my pixel 7 pro so low bars just means I'm further away from the tower.
Looking for pixel 6 detailed video. Value for money or get the 7 series!?
hi ya - I have not tried the 6 but the 7 is great value. There are some sales on too - if you are lucky you might get a bargain. I'll be looking at the Nothing 2 this week...
I wish they'd bring back the XL title, Pro sounds silly 😁
yeah - agreed. They hopped on the Apple bandwagon there huh!
@@DavidLewisTech I mean, Apple jumped on Samsung's bandwagon when they went with the Plus name...except their Plus is just a bigger version of the regular iphone 14, which is in no way the same as Samsung's Plus model as the Plus model for the s23 is a step above the regular s23 and a step below the s23 ultra.
I am waiting for the 8 pro to see if is flat display. I really want to see a flagship android phone with flat display.
I love that display!!
The 8 pro rumors say it's flat

The Pixel Pro 7 is a beast - such a smooth experience! Thanks for getting in touch!
hi ya - that sounds a helluva a phone - 1750 nits screen 120Hz refresh rate and Android 14...looking forwards to it! Great to hear from you
The iPhone 3gs was the last iPhone I had. I think that was early 2000s. While the occasionally have some cool features before Android does they are overall an inferior system. They could produce so much better but Apple is too greedy and the intentionally cripple there devices.
I have noticed over this past week that Apple seems to have bricked my battery - by 7pm its down to about 30%...just weeks before iPhone 15 is launched...intersting eh!!
What's your opinion on the Samsung s23 ultra
hi ya Zak - I'm saving up for that! I've just bnought the Nothing too and will be getting a video up on it this week. I've heard great things about the S23 Ultra and really want to get my hands on it!

Why don't you use cases on your phones?
I happen to really love the design of the phones and love their feel. I'm not saying accidents won't happen, but I'm pretty careful with my phones and have only once cracked a back glass.
The only issue i have with apple ia the price of their devices. I like the boring but does its job efficiently.
Apple's quality is 2nd to none...
Have been Google Pixel and Nexus user for years. Tried going to iphone and moving from Google to iphone is as difficult as iphone to Google. That is apples biggest marketing thing. You are stuck no way out
so damn true! But that said...I am hoping to get my hands on the 8 to compare to the 15 🤞🏻
airdrop is the same as nearby Share Google messages is the same as iMessage your just stuck on iPhone just like the rest I went from Samsung and I would never go back you missed the Google call screen feature which iPhone doesn't have and is a game changer plus hold for me plus when you call a business it tells how long wait you have bottom line iPhone is Trash I used to work for phone tech support and the number one phone who gave the most issues was iPhones. good video keep up the good job and put that iPhone in the trash where it belongs.
Hi there - thanks for watching and taking the time to comment too. I am still and iPhone user as much as anything because I work Mac and have CarPlay too. But, since my eyes have been opened to Google and Android, I can see how Apple has got lazy and fallen behind. I am really enjoying the experience - who knows one day I may make the change! Android has actually made me enjoy phones again 😁
Battery life is horrible on my pixel 7 pro and so is the modem strength. Also the overheating issue on the pixel phones are horrible my 7 pro got up to 107 degree f in a building that was 80 degrees. I wasn’t even using the phone I just had the pixel in my pocket and I could feel the heat through my pants.
hi ya - yeah, I mentioned I'd noticed it getting pretty hot and the battery life is rubbish. That surprised me...glad it's not just me that felt that. Thanks for getting involved!
Battery life lasts 24 hours on Android 14 beta .. with 9-10 hours sot . It's a big improvement... on Android 13 I was getting max 6 hours sot

@@katerinademertzi5975 I have been running Android beta and the most I get is 7 hours of screen time and that's on all Wi-Fi. If I'm on data it's horrible. Standby on this phone is also garbage. I can leave my phone just on Wi-Fi. No data at night time and lose 10% battery.
Why not both~~ personal and business.
I think that is the way forward
Pixel still has a long ways to go with their hardware. I am not a fan of their software either. I am a Samsung user and I try really heard to be an exclusive pixel user. Hardware wise their antennas and battery/charging speed are still subpar compare to Apple and Samsung. If pixel can fix the most basic but important things, then it will compete better.
hi there - I am just uploading a video that might interest you re antenna's etc - the wi-fi speeds differ SO much between iPhone & Pixel
@@DavidLewisTechwhat video is that. I was looking for but I don't see it. The pixel antenna is so inconsistent. Sometimes I will get a strong signal and sometimes it gets weaker or it goes out on me. The UI and hepatics are awesome but the cpu and gpu are trash . Google has to run the cpu so hard that even just watching KZhead heats it up so bad it drops refresh rate and throttles that it makes the phone lag till it cools off, combine that with horrible battery life and I got rid of it in a week. I did 2 factory resets and set up without a backup and still issue, Tmobile swapped it out for another one and it was a little better on running hot but I still could barely make it 10 hours on a charge. I've got an S22 Ultra and with the same use I'm getting 8-9 SOT and going to bed with 30% left. For whatever reason Google has dropped the ball on every pixel since the 2XL in some way or another.
the heat issues seem a real problem. Since I mentioned it a load of comments have come in about it and agree heat/battery not so good
@GH0STST4RSCR34M doesn't matter who it's made by, it's trash and it's what is holding this phone back from being a true beast.
There's your problem, you got rid of it within a week. Android devices require a full week to 2 weeks of constant use as it's learning your usage. During this time you have a lot of apps open in the background and lot of apps using location services and other background services. Once that's done the phone automatically optimizes your device and your battery lasts longer because the phone learned what you normally use and what you don't use so it automatically and constantly shuts down all those apps you don't use. The Pixel 7 line isn't a device for the super heavy user, it's like the Flip line of Samsung is, it's a device for general use. My Pixel 7 pro lasts me all day long til I plug it in at night, and it has never gotten any warmer than my iphone 14 pro or my s23 ultra or s23+ did. It's your usage that affects that. Also congrats on trading it for Samsung's worst chipset in the s22 ultra along with the phone Samsung admitted they throttled. The Snapdragon 8 gen 1 was a battery guzzler. Now if you got the s23 ultra, then you'd have bragging rights cause that phone is the definition of perfection.... aside from the fact that Samsung eats a huge chunk of storage right out of the box.
@taeraxx3698 and yet my coworkers on his 3rd 7pro since launch and his runs hot and can't make it through an 8 hour shift without charging it. The G2 chip is trash even with several software updates to try and mask the issues. Some people get lucky and get a good device. Back with the 2XL and everyone having screen issues, I never had a problem. 2 brand new 7pro's both with issues, sorry maybe next year.
I can’t disagree with your findings but still think the Apple experience leaps ahead if you use multiple devices. Another big differentiator between them is privacy. I’m deeply uncomfortable with how much data Google gathers (and what they do with it) and I think for just this reason alone, I wouldn’t contemplate switching away from Apple.
yeah, Norman - I think I agree with you. It's the invisible, almost hidden elements behind being with Apple that are the real benefits...privacy, cross-device and the ecosystem all begin to count...
@@DavidLewisTech Agreed. You can always install custom ROM on it if you want to De Google. Not a bad way to think about it either
You do realize that information gathering happens on an iphone too right? Yeh it has that option that pops up that says to block that, but everytime you do a search on a browser or anything on the internet, your information data is being gathered, and it's not going to Apple, it's going to whoever uploaded the app or the website as that's generally how cookies work. The only way to stay anonymous and protect your data or even have a chance of protecting your data is using a VPN or just not using the internet, which in this day and age, not using the internet is next to impossible....yes we already live in the world of Skynet lol.

Trade in all your Apple gear ... et voila. More then enough money to buy all the stuff from Google. 😎 With the money you save, you can book a nice trip and as a bonus you can take better photos with you Pixel 7 Pro
the Macs stay - but I am tempted to miss the 15 this year and look at the Pixel 8 instead...
pixel battery is terrible I charge my phone like 10x a day at least. You should have selected the 7a it's a much better value. I'll add my pixel has horrible speakers, low battery life and low screen brightness at max. The iphone is far superior obviously, which is why I wouldn't spend more than $500 on a pixel.
this week I will compare the new Nothing 2 to the Pixel. I've been running it since Friday...going to be taking some pics with it today....
Apple has the best battery on the market
my 14 Pro has struggled this year at times - but the 15 sounds as if it is due some pretty big upgrades for the battery
super fast chines android - good bye iphone and pixel 😂😂
I'll be looking at the Nothing 2 this week...
Lol basically he said I love the freedom but I prefer being a zombie and keep worshipping the master
Another apple user who can't get away from apple due to the ecosystem and how deep they buried themselves into it. I got out of it easily. Just sell everything and go on another ecosystem. It's easy. Are there some things I miss about iphone? A couple things here and there, but can honestly say not so much. The Airpods are by far the most comfortable buds on the market, but not the best in sound or volume. The apple watch is a good watch, but very basic as hell. Now far as macbooks...unless I'm gonna be working on music or anything artistic, a macbook is kinda pointless as more things are developed for Windows than it is for a Mac. Now far as the Pixel 7 pro goes. I love mine, folks bitch about it being underpowered, but I see no issues. Battery life lasts me all day long, but I'm not a mobile gamer, Playing a game that is played with a controller or mouse and keyboard but on a flat touch screen to me feels so uncomfortable. The cameras is what brought me to the Pixel 7 pro. Had the iphone 14 pro and I think the pictures the pixel takes are way more natural with less saturation than the iphone and the Samsung phones do.
hi there - yes, I admit that the ecosystem was built up around me brick by brick very slowly. But, getting my hands on the Pixel 7 and Nothing 2 has been one of the best things that ever happened to me. I've learned there is another way and I am loving it! Fun, fresh and innovative. I struggle sometimes having been with iOS for so long but the Android market has come a long, long way!
Not a good chip Not a good modem Not a good battery So NO!!
yeah - kinda agree!
Samsung all the way
yeah...I will need to get my hands on one...
In conclusion iOS is overrated
hmmm - maybe a touch harsh, but it has serious competition...
OMG. A person that tied himself to the apple eco system should not be making a video like that. Ugh
Phone trash. Stop with all the hype. You'll be lucky if you can make a phone call without it being froze half the time.
...the one thing a smartphone struggles to do...make a call! 🤣
Why can't you just talk about the Pixel? KZheadrs like you include iPhone in the name to get views
well partly you can thank YT for playing the algo game, but also I did COMPARE....
