- Taylor Swift: The 1989 World Tour Live!
To avoid any confusion... "The 1989 World Tour" is just the name of the tour. This performance happened in 2015, as it is stated in the description and on the video itself (0:13). Why is that the name? Taylor named her fifth studio album, "1989", after her year of birth, therefore, that was the name given to her forth headlining tour, in support of this album. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.
and Taylor named her album "1989" because it symbolized two things about the album's direction: 1. That the music in the album is inspired by 80's synth-pop 2. And that this is her first album to be promoted as a pop album. (Her previous album, Red, can be interpreted as pop but it wasn't promoted as such.) Her switch from country to pop showed a rebirth of her artistry, so that's why she used her birth year.
Thank you I saw Alanis Morissette tonight and American idol and couldn’t figure out call Taylor Swift was performing a concert in 1989 considering she was born in 1989
😂
Props to Alanis for painting the way. 👌
Do people exist that think THIS video was taken in 1989? God help us all.
You just KNOW that Taylor was rocking out to this song, singing her heart out, holding a hair brush as a microphone in her room back in the day.
I totally was! 💃🏻✨
Jagged Little Pill is one of the best albums ever made.
Absolutely!
Sold 33 million copies worldwide!
It really is, no lie
I believe it was Madonna's label, Maverick
💯 ❤
Taylor was right. The advent of Alanis Morissette is one of the most pivotal singer/songwriters of her (my) generation. She was HUGE in the late 90s. Great to see her still getting her props. And also what a voice...
100%
Alanis has such a unique voice Love alanis’ musuc and voice
I personally feel as if Taylor's mic was turned UP compared to alasnis M's, and she slammed it like nobody would EVER know 3:31
Every generation needs a female singer to provide the masses with the stellar breakup anthems for every single "Let's go out and party the pain away!" weekend everyone can sing along to. Carly Simon led to Alanis Morissette led to Taylor Swift led to Olivia Rodrigo..
My first concert was Jagged Little Pill nooooose bleeds and it was amazing!!!
You outta know was CRRRRRRAZY!!! Giving permission for women to be angry was so uplifting!!! ❤
Women have been getting angry for centuries…where gave you been🤔
@@francopasta3704 not in pop culture.
That's right. It was couched before this released in songs like These Boots are Made for Walkin'. Alanis was completely new territory.
100 percent the greatest break up song of our generation
Return of the Mac. Fight me.
💯%
Not a breakup song. It's the "pissed off woman after getting dumped" song.
i remember when Alanis burst onto the scene. it was a breath of fresh air. by far one of my favorite artists in the 90's.
That was not her first scene in the industry. First huge break and international. They tried her in pop in Canada, was ok. This was her reinvesting herself and shows that she was right and the label was wrong in what works for her
I remember Jagged little pill ruling the world 95/96 , I feel so lucky to of expericanced it when it came out
I want to go back to the 90s so bad. 96 was an awesome year!!!
@@jenlpoc1839omg 96 was the best year of my life (i’m 54)
@@jenlpoc1839se achar o caminho, por favor, me mostre 😢
Taylor Hawkins was Alanis's drummer for this song before he joined Foo Fighters. Rest in Light, Hawk.
Taylor Hawkins was only in the video, he didn’t play on the album.
Light…🤔wouldn’t that be hard to sleep…
Irrelevant
@@Dil_MoranNot at all irrelevant. Taylor Hawkins was one of the drumming greats of our time. I’m a swiftie and I love foo fighters!!
@@vintagememories6560 Definitely irrelevant, much like your comment which is basically just saying 'me' I don't care what music you listen to
When Taylor Swift is your backup singer, you are an icon. Great Song!
And she was totally fangirling on the stage. It was great
SO TRUE!
Definitely Iconic when you sell over 36 million albums on the Jagged release DURING ITS RUN ON THE CHARTS. As to what the tally is now, obviously higher... On a more pertinent point, she is a rarity, and it exudes when she opens her mouth both intellectually and musically.
Or the other way around: you know you've made it when Alanis agrees to do a duet with you.
No! Just means the kid needs some real stars to help boost her ratings.
I'm actually surprised of how aggressive and strong Taylor's vocals are here! she delivered
The song fits her voice so very well. This is in her wheelhouse, I think so many fans want to see more of it.
Def her best in my opinion
She should do a rock album
How hard would you try, if you were standing next to the raw power that is Alanis? She's a monster vocalist. Taylor needed to bring her A game, or get upstaged. I noticed Alanis mic was a little quiet, probably because shes so loud and powerful. Dynamite comes in small packages. Reminds me of Pat Benatar.
@@ripn929707 Audio engineer was half asleep.
Alanis slayyyyyyed !! Her voice filled that arena.
This is one of those angstry 90s anthems that will ALWAYS be around.
*angsty
i am 50 years old and this is still the best breakup fuck you song ever written. chills every goddamn time.
Alanis is the GOAT! Thank you for making a generation of women strong and empowered
Strong..?? The chick in the song is devastated over the break up …
lol are you serious? But you go girl while biological men pretending to be women dominate you. But you go girl.
Alanis is great but she is no longer the Goat. Taylor with 4 Grammy Albums of the Year that's a goat record that will stand for a while.
Nice to hear the crowd sing along and know the song. Props to Taylor having Alanis on her stage.
it's nice to meet you and please read my comment
It's cool that Alanis didn't censor the lyrics.
@@youtuber3328 nice to meet you too
@@sabadacopodcast thanks a lot seriously
@@youtuber3328 ❤️
My favorite and my daughter's favorite on the same stage!
Alanis was my favourite growing up, now Taylor is sitting pretty among the favourites, folklore opened up the door for me to her music and I haven't looked back since
Cool
it's nice to meet you and please read my comment
How cool 😀🙌🏻
@@AD-tl8zv you could add evermore and maybe her upcoming album "midnights"
Alanis's wail is legendary and so powerful!
Huh…I never thought of Taylor Swift as the heir to Alanis Morrissette, but in retrospect it is a perfect fit.
I would have FREAKED OUT if I was at a concert and Alanis came out and sang this song! 🤯🫨🫡🤩
Amen
Same! This song will never get old.
The fact that Taylor has so much love for Alanis!! So much love!!!
Alanis has been my ride or die favorite artist for 17 years, but I love all kinds of music, Taylor included. Seeing them together is great, and I like hearing Taylor sing like this. She sound great when she lets loose like in the chorus. And Alanis still sounds like she did 25 years ago, which is saying something. Love this!
Same.
Alanis.. One of the best live performers ever.. I still go back and watch her Unplugged performance from time to time. Matter of fact now might be another one of those times..
Fkn yes. It's so good
King of Pain I could listen to for the rest of my life.
Shame Alanis doesn't make great music anymore
@@neildaniels18 Shame you never made great music at all. What is your point?
@@buckiesmalls she once made great music She doesn't anymore That's my point
Taylor made 18 yr old ALanis come out that night omg 😍😍😍 They both did great!
Probably Taylor's best collab.
This is the best performance with Alanis I've seen so far. Taylor's and Alanis' vocals just seem to go together so well! Best introduction of Alanis' contribution to the female artists!
favorite alanis performance was letterman '95......best one imo........
Here surprise appearance at Pink’s show in October was amazing.
I saw Alanis in the summer of 2022. I was expecting it to be a good show. It was arguably one of the best concerts I have ever seen. She was amazing.
She is amazing live. I saw her with Matchbox 20 years ago and it was fantastic.
Alanis Morissette has logged more miles walking on stage than any other performer ever.
You can just tell that at some point Taylor Swift danced around her room with Alanis on the stereo singing this song into a hairbrush!
Greatest break up song writers of all time from different generation in one stage is just phenomenal!
I am right now years old when I realized that Alanis has just made Taylor my truest favorite. I love this so much. OG Alanis STAN here!
Alanis Morissette will always be my favorite singer of all time💟
I love how Alannis just did laps on the stage lol
That young crowd singing... Beautiful
Very cool of Taylor to do this, giving legends their props that helped pave the way for today's stars. Well done, and great job!
Stars of today? 😂😂 sorry.
It warms my heart the audience were so ecstatic to see her perform!
Alanis was the bomb 💥. Now there's 2 decades of generations that can investigate her sound!!
Taylor is smart to feature so many great artists on her tours.
This song got me over the most painful breakup of my life. Thank you, Alanis!😢💔🙂😁😄😆❤
I did not knew this existed up to now and this is legendary, damn
It is so cool to see Alanis Morrisette at Taylor Swift concert! Two great artists singing together I ❤️ that!
The Queens of breakup songs! YES! Give Alanis Morissette her flowers!!!!
i met alanis last night! crazy to think she was on stage with taylor
Taylor has brought one of the best guest of her concert! Both have undeniable chemistry!
Alanis and that album Jagged little pill are in my top 5 of all time and Im a metal head.. These two girls together nailed it Great video
36 million albums were sold on that release by the time it faded off the charts. It took another Canadian female to break that sales record and it was Shania's 'Come On Over'. Good choice!
This performance was absolutely incredible, and it absolutely throws sand in my crack to see people completely disinterested towards the end. That was an incredible collaboration.
Alanis Morissette! 💟❣
Shit she still has it her voice is so powerful.
I love both Taylor Swift and Alanis. Jagged Little Pill got me through high school and college. Even though I was in elementary school when Jagged Little Pill came out.
My god. these two women. Two songwriters I most admire. Thank you Taylor for giving tribute.
It's brilliant that Alanis out performed somebody half her age. Respect 🙏. This is rock.
Wouldn’t say she outperformed her lol. Taylor was in the middle of a show in the middle of a tour, and Alanis had fresh vocals. Love them both, but I disagree with your comment.
Taylor letting her guest shine isn’t being out performed. That’s just a silly thing to say
Well, Alanis also had 20 years to get that song right live. She's sang that song backwards and forwards in every intonation possible. Taylor isn't going to beat that. Set back and let a master take care of her own song.e
WHAT, half of Alani's age? Bob, Taylor is not 24, she's 33, only 15years apart from each other.
Rare to see a comment ripped to shreds so factually
Two of the greatest songwriters of our break-up anthems. GOATS.
Ive seen both of them live and this would be my dream performance to see. They are both amazing performers.
i truely and deeply respect Miss Taylor Swift and would love to attend her concerts! But bringing Alanis Morrisette to the stage performing one of the the biggest songs is mesmerizing
These two women are so I'm sync. Great energy
"You oughta know" and "all too well" are mother and daughter
They nailed a classic - together!
Taylor is a freaking giant!
Alanis morissette! ❤🇧🇷
If Taylor Swift ever does a cover album, I hope it's Jagged Little Pill
Alanis owned this! Period!
On of my favorite new genres is listen to Alanis Morisette “You Oughta Know” duets. Just listened to Kelly Clarkson & Pinks duets with her and now I’m about to hear Taylor’s!
Taylor: I make the greatest breakup songs of all time Alanis: hold my cross-eyed bear
One of the greatest female rock artist!!!!
One amazing Canadian woman of all time! Alanis, Morissette.. ❤️🇨🇦❤️🇨🇦❤️🇨🇦❤️🇨🇦❤️
i dont know why but this made me emotional. its so true. alanis spoke to my soul. still does
The kind of crowd Alanis Morissette deserves!
Can you imagine if we got a TS album in the vein of Jagged Little Pill? UGH I want her to be happy and I also want her to write a true break up angry rock album we can all scream sing to 🖤
Man, Alanis' voice is a treasure. What a legend
Two of the greatest female singers of our time on stage together, singing one of the greatest female anthems of all time. YESSSS!!!
Glad Alanis always found an outlet through music Glad she shared it & her experiences with us I almost said, glad ppl broke her heart, but that's giving them too much credit. She is the one who made gold out of the sh*t she had to go through. So yes, props to her and only to her!
Here's to breaking legacies that we may have bee😮n born into but CHOSE to break and NOT pass down. During this performance and interview she provides clear testimony of Choosing to change regardless of which road it might take her down; in-as-much that she realized taking time off was essential to do itt right shows her "secret person of the heart" as do all of her comments. 👍🏿
I bought Jagged Little Pill when it came out- had never heard anything like it. Iconic.
that song OMG....you forget what an anthem that is
What an ICON!!!
Alanis is unreal such a pleasure to see her in Manchester
Really nice to hear both of them. But Alanis is a MUST! ❤
I have never heard this before. I am going to die. Because I love them both.
I LOVE THIS SONG ❤🎉YOUR BOTH AMAZING .GOD BLESS YOU BOTH
Smells Like Teen Spirit and You Oughta Know defined a generation. That is... Crazy...
Love it wouldn’t have thought of these 2 performing together but amazing
Greatest breakup song of all time. Hell yeah....
Goosebumps!!!! AHHHH! So good!
Oh goosebumbs. This song is f*ing everything. Love it!!!
I love that everyone else seems to also love this song the most from Alanis. Idk how many times I jammed out in my bedroom singing these lyrics at the top of my lungs!
I love them singing together
No Doubt was a good guess. Love all of them.
Love Alanis!
I was in my 20’s when Alanis was first on the scene - it was so good and new. Taylor is so darn tall. Lucky.
Wearing heels, most people are tall.
Love this song! Taylor is the Ultimate Hype girl!!! She obviously loves, supports and respects other female artist soo much. The energy Taylor gave in this performance is electric and raw! Great performance to both.
Goosebumps!
I love this so much!! I loved this song when it first came out and now she's singing with Taylor? Mind blown!
So cool! I love both of these artists, and I love their music!
Thanks so much for this.
Alanis walked so Taylor could run 😂 her best songs were written after a breakup 😭
And now Taylor is much more successful than her, so?
I'm not sure if you're implying Taylor is better?! I love both but Alanis is incomparable.
@@junkie.9208 Um, you better do your research.
@@junkie.9208 I love taylor so much but that’s a huge disrespect to Alanis. Her emotional writing and vocals really inspired the female singers of today and Jagged Little Pill sold 33 million copies.
@@junkie.9208 You literally heard Taylor pay homage to Alanis for the insane amount she did for female musicians (which has been echoed by countless big artists) and you want to discredit her because Taylor had done well for herself? Give your head a shake man
The Rock Divas of 90's Alanis, Sheryl, and Shirley
Who's Shirley?
Shirley Manson of Garbage!!!
Manson, from Garbage
Amazing combo. And Taylor gives much respect to Alanis.
This makes me love Taylor even more❤
to be there and see it, wow!!!
What a crowd.
Legendary
I’ve seen both of these legends in concert and they’re both amazing. ❤️
Thats fucking epic
