Giant Anteaters are Termite Detectors I Wild to Know

Have you ever noticed that Giant Anteaters do have panda legs before? It looks like a crooked panda sniffing the ground. Look closer, and you’ll see its thin snout, tiny eye, and one ear right above an astonishing panda-like leg. The illusion is caused by the colors of the anteater’s fur, as its black and white coat forms what looks like a panda’s eyes, ears, and nose.
That doesn’t just look like a termite detector... 0:21
I had, and that’s what drew my attention to this video. 🙂 I had suspected it’s to draw the attention of a predator away from the defenseless snout to the legs with strong defenses. Plus, it’s confusing to a predator to see an animal with two ‘heads’ when viewing from the side.
thoose Panda legs (bear face leg) do good idea to scared off the predators once the ant-eater head busy stuck at ant-hole during eating... but in reality Panda are dangerous , or do they ?
@@leongliyang6946 they have long canines and the bite force of a panda must be high since it eats bamboo I’m expecting 2000 psi -2500psi
its even more amazing, since Giant ant eaters are found in Central and South America, and Panda's are not. a whole Ocean divides them, and the predators, lets not mention the things that eat ant eaters, then we might wonder how they know what a panda sniffing the ground looks like.
0:10 it's so cute that they just ride their moms like that.
That is true...the strong bond between the mother an her baby is amazing 😍
I love this channel cause they talk about animals that aren't normally talked about. Thanks for another great video.
Your kind words mean a lot to us Steve 😊Thank you!
i love this channel too
Even Anteaters understand that one doesn't overexploit resources and should be sustainable. They don't eat all the termites so they can re-build and the anteaters can feast again. Makes me wonder why sustainability is such a hard concept for humans to grasp.
Exactly! We should start to learn from mother nature!
it's really not very hard to grasp... it's just that overexploitation has enriched some very greedy bastards who now use their ill-gotten wealth to bulldoze their way through regulators and activists.
@Kunal Kashyap What a sad reality....🥺
@@alveolate Ya that's true...
it's easy to grasp but hard to implement
Did you know that Giant Anteater pups spend the first year of life riding on their mother's back? And hey, did you see the young one cruisin' around with its mom in our video? 🥰
yesss, they are soo cute. thanks for always putting up amazing content :)
Never would have guessed that giant anteaters have the lowest body temperature of any mammal.
You can always learn something new from our videos 😉
Why lowest temperature?
@@tim40gabby25 because they are the coolest mammals 😎
@@Envision_ ha.. but my question stands :)
Despite everything that is happening here, it is nice to see Brazilian fauna featured in the channel!
Yes these animals are native to the cerrado a unique not so known eco region in central brasil similar to the African savanna. It sad cause the cerrado is being destroyed at a faster pace that some regions of the Amazon to make way for soy farms
We are really trying to cover a wide range of species all over the planet 😊
Termites are great architects creating massive earth structures compared to their size.
They are indeed 🐜
@@lenafromterramater3690 Maybe a video on termites and their building skills?

This little one truly gives it´s mummy no break at all 😄
I love how they don't overindulge in their meals so they can have future ones.
That is indeed really sustainable 😊🐜
Good to see to you reused the logo that's used as a protection from being reuploaded by other youtuber.
The thumbnail was so perfect I thought there were 4 anteaters
Their fur really has a unique pattern 😅🤯
Are the anteaters immune to the Ants stings? Sticking their tounge in an anthill wouldn't be very comfortable for most animals😆
This is the kind of question I have never asked yet wished to know all along. 😱 Thanks for such a professional and well made video 👍
Glad we could help you out there 😉
Beautifully Shot.....

Ant Eater: "which brand do I want today"
The only information missing was the local name of the anteater, Tamandua, name inherited from the Tupi language of the native peoples of Brazil which today live at risk like many native Americans. It is also the name of a Genus of Anteaters.
Thanks to this vedeo bcz I ever this animal before in vedeos a nice information nd l like animals.keep going
We are happy to hear that you liked it that much 😊
The animal sure looks interesting and the behaviour of not eating the whole ant colony so it can repopulate is too damn good on the animals part
They really do have good thoughts on sustainability 😉🐜
One notification from this channel can change my mood .
Hopefully into a super good mood 🤩
But what's the name of the owner of this enchanting voice here on Terra Mater? Only her voice let alone the exceptional content , gives me the boost to watch Terra Mater again and again

A large and cute anteaters with panda-like legs. A truly unique animal that needs protection from illegal hunting.
They are truly amazing animals 🐜

Panda Knees reminds me of the anteater video by Animalogic
Nice ☺️
Glad to hear that 😊
Mess with termites but don't mess with ants unless that giant ant eater wants a little spicy chili in it's meal.
anteaters: okay, that's 3000 have a good day.
Cool animal 😎
True that, they're pretty awesome! 😎
Can't imagine how long it takes for giant anteaters to be fed by thousands of soil insect.
Great lifestyle! Wouldn’t be to bad to be a giant anteater
Especially for the little one 😉
Never heard of this animal in my life
Well now you did 😊😉

Indeed 😊🐜🐼
unique animal
They are indeed 🐜
I want that same ride 🤭😊
That really does look comfy 🐜😊
Never realized Ant eaters are so dinosaur like
even ant eaters know about sustainability.
They really do 😊
If you see 2 anteaters on a motorcycle in Brazil..you are doomed..
"Like cowboys they snatch the well armed soldier termites and slurp them up"
Did you know the mascot for UCI is the giant anteater? Zot! 🦡⚡️🤏 And pandas 🐼are my favorite animal. This just killed 2 birds with a stone. 😆👍😜🙌⚡️❤️🤓😎
Anteaters eat 50% Ant 50% Soil
Because they do
But did you know why? 🧐
@@lenafromterramater3690 because they do

Anteater's will slice open even the biggest of jaguars with their claws.
My favorite South American animal! Sometimes I call it a Bug Wolf! 😊
Hi Jeffrey! They are so cool!
You should consider making the thumbnail more attractive so that more people clicks on the video. Else, the Title and the Content are always good at your channel.
Thank you for your suggestion and your kind words 😊
Tl;dw: it's roughly the same reason skunks have that eye-catching black-and-white pattern, to warn predators
"Allowing the termites to rebuild and repopulate"...🐜🐜 At least the anteaters have a consideration and care for other living things which they exploit...☘️🐜☘️ And about humans..... Do I have to say that..😏😏 Sad reality🖤🖤.
How do they know when they've had enough of one mound's population?. No way can they count that fast on those fingers..
How do they defend themselves from predators?
Pangolian, aramdrillo, ant bear, and aardvarks all have long tongues
Except none of these animals are related, anteaters are more closely related to sloths, whilst armadillos, aardvarks, and pangolins all have their own orders.
2:45 Am I the only one afraid of a baby anteater introducing their 60cm long tongue in my ear while sleeping? (I guess it will be smaller for a baby, but still) 2:37
Does sand disturb them in digestion? Like gall stones In humans?
How has nobody made the joke about anteaters and their rights to bear arms yet!?
Hello my name is Ade Arip, I’m from the trans7 trending program in indonesian. I want to ask permission to use videos on your youtube channel. Thanks
Those are wrists, not knees.
I wonder if the anteaters shout "GET OVER HERE" when pulling ants and termites 🤔
I don´t think so 😉🐜
That is hilarious!
Fun fact, wilbur soot hates ant eaters
We Brazilians know that these beautiful creatures are ones to be seen from distance. They're super dangerous, when you come here and see one, stay away.
How do the babies drink milk?!
Don’t the termites bite their tongue?
Hi Ellie! They eat them realllyyyy fast
Why do pandas have giant anteaters knees on their bodys?
I see a sloth 🦥
I was wondering what the Ante-ater is.... Ante? is there Post-Ater? I thought it was some kinda latin word.
Very dangerous animal. It could kill you easily if youre not careful.
They are only feeding on ants and termites and they have no teeth 😊
Lmfao ur drunk
@@lenafromterramater3690 They have claws attached on two incredible strong arms. People were actually killed by these creatures, some of these cases appeared in the local news... I strongly sugest to not underestimate the strength of these beautiful animals.
The ants must feel like in Attack on Titan
panda? stop smoking what you are smoking
Эи тут русские есть!?
Because they come from Alabama? Or because they're bound for Louisiana?
The explanation for the panda face was unimpressive. I thought it would be something much better than that.
