  • Y'all my favorite commentary channel. Mostly because y'all give J. Cole the acknowledgment he deserves. I am from Fayetteville and I see what he does for my city with no fanfare. People say he is so fake but I think he's out here doing what he can with what he can. He is the reason why I decided to go to college for the first time in my 30's. Because anything's possible. Your life can change so much in one year. His music made me do more for my community. I want to be a better person. This is why he will always be one of my favorite rappers. My life changed after finding him as an artist. Salute to y'all!

  • From what I’ve seen (and reading the piece he recently wrote) the climb back is representative of him getting his inspiration and creativity back. He was sort of stuck for a while because he wasn’t “hungry” anymore he wasn’t trying to make it in the industry because he’s already done that. He’s made hits and he’s made meaningful tracks with a message so he felt as though he’s done all there is to do. This song and up coming project is him really proving his skill/growth and getting back into a creative space.(: he’s always needed a purpose to create music because as y’all said, he doesn’t make music for the sake of just making music. I recommend you guys read the piece he wrote called “The Audacity”

  • When J. Cole said "Nat Turner in my past life, Bob Marley in my last life back again" (song: Folgers Crystals) I felt that cause he was dead ass serious. He's one of the 🐏's reincarnated. Cole has literally taken on the Bob Marley energy just in the rap/hip-hop genre this time around. He's not hiding it either. He's even got the locs to fit the bill. This n*gga really been here before. 🤯😂

When I first heard the line I didn't think much of it other than a cool thing to say but over time I started to see Cole evolve as a person and on top of that he started growing free form locs. Then once I heard the song again it just hit me like a ton of bricks, no innovation. 😂 This man was sent back here to try and save us. Naw but seriously Cole just has that GOAT ish in his aura now and he's taken on that Bob Marley enegry of trying to heal the black community through his music and ultimately the world. At least that's my take on it.

    • I think it’s his understanding of how to change his cadence and flow to the tempo and overall sonic vibe of the beat. Even if there were no lyrics, the way he makes subtle adjustments in his flow, melody, and cadence in order to compliment the beat, makes his voice sound like an instrument and a natural extension of the beat. I remember being like 14 years old, and just listening to his voice flow over a beat, and being mesmerized by how, on that particular song, how consistent it was. His voice was so rhythmically consistent in tempo that it sounded like drum.

  • Happy af that you guys clarified a bit on the absence, and knowing that it’s big things coming and evolving makes me glad, and I’m sure the fans too. &’ yooo this Cole track sounded like he put everything into this. How he’s clearly getting these point out with bars and an insanely intricate flow and cadence .. this shit was beautiful and needed. Favorite song by him in a minute

  • the level that this channel takes music to is underappreciated. The most in-depth analysis you're ever going to come across on KZhead are found right here. Thank you for exploring music the way you guys do it makes the music much better for those of us who cannot understand it. However I would like to say that you guys have elevated my mindset so I can do this on my own. I still come right back here though just to be a part of the community.

    • This is why I laugh when people say "Cole is basic" or "he's not deep"... The intent/content behind Cole's lyrics is what makes him a deep thinker. He doesn't have to use a bunch of ivy league words to say something profound(that's why he's great). That only appeals to the intelligent snobs who feel others are beneath them. It would be nice if people used their brain & realized there's more than one way to get your point across.

I also want to see them react to Muse - Knights of Cydonia, so I can do the same with every Muse video that follows. Come on guys! I joined Patreon in the hope of at least seeing a Muse video on there!

  • best song of 2020 to me, I think the Alliteration he uses to start the song is fire, the hardest line to me is “Trash rappers ass backwards trying to go toe to toe” that’s fire, and my favorite scheme (And this song is full of schemes, hardest scheme is the pole scheme where he says “staff strapped on top the totem pole and blast at you” which he caps with the bass masters bar) but my favorite among all his scheming is the clothes scheme where he adds a diamond/gold making scheme to it and ends it with “they foldin under pressure but u know what coal/cole do, making diamonds they just rhyming, me I’m quoting gold.” That’s so hard, and crazy thing is the rest of the song is just as good! I’ve heard the Gofer Mine bar, don’t quote me but I thInk Eminem uses almost the same exact bar put the same way in Dre’s Medicine Man, if not for that it’d be a perfect song to me and even not liking that bar it’s as close to a perfect song as I’ve heard in a long time
