'Bella Ciao' is a song of resistance, sacrifice, revolution and freedom. Never treat it lightly.
You defined this perfectly 👌

Something to think of: Americans do not understand resistance in order to respect it, because usually they are the oppressors being resisted!

Totalmente cierto.
Well there is turkish version
Even while I'm not Italian and just learned about this song, I'm happy to see that a lot of the comments point out that the video doesn't make sense with the lyrics and origin of the song. And I must say that I'm jealous that the Italian people have such a good and strong resistance song. We Dutch don't really have that (in my opinion).
Well with whom were you Dutch in ww2?
@@aleksandars9254 Our land was taken over by the Nazi's. Some people fleed to Brittain and fought from there, and some people started to fight the Nazi's in our country, by eliminating important SS'ers and others. And unfortunately there were people that collaborated with the Nazi's, or did nothing. The government was in Brittain btw, they fleed just in time, and from there started to help fight the Nazi's. Our queen at that time stood strong and visited the Dutch soldiers there, and her husband was in the army.
@@J.T.7 Yeah…but the fact that you stayed neutral is the problem… before the invasion on Netherland happened. After that of course there was resistance in those brave enough to stand up for their homeland.

Although I am not Italian, I know how valuable and meaningful this song is for Italians. For those who don't know, I would like to mention briefly that it is an Italian protest song that emerged at the end of the 19th century. It was uttered by workers in the rice fields in northern Italy to criticize the harsh conditions. It's really sad that this clip doesn't show respect for those who died for the resistance. As a whole humanity, we should know how to respect people's cultures.
It’s an Anti Fascist song made by italian partizans during ww2
Some of my Italian conationals disrespect this song more than singing a remake of it. Unfortunately, in Italy many people today forgot what fascism was and refuse to listen to this song of freedom and resistance, telling it s for communists 😓🤦🏻♀️

Irrespectful. "Bella Ciao" is a very strong and meaningful song, it tells the story about italians loving their land to death, the resistance who saved my motherland. In "La Casa de Papel" this song fits greatly with some characters and it's put in in a very respectful way, not like here.

You are right. Bella Ciao meaning"Goodbye beautiful" is an Italian protest folk song from the late 19th century, originally sung by the mondina workers in protest against the harsh working conditions in the paddy fields of Northern Italy.

My great-grand father used to sing this song during ww2, and it is still very important in Italy for its history. I cannot feel more disappointed than this. 🥶
to be fair, they changed the words of the original bella ciao in the 50s... anti nazi partisanos never sang this song.. and it was originally about farmers going into the fields. Its anti nazi lyrics are a post war fabrication. maybe don't be sad about this... its all made up anyway.
As a non Italian I can’t help feeling disappointed and sad that she put out a music video with such choreography as if it’s nothing. Bella Ciao is a sad and a heartbreaking song, definitely not a happy one, and it’s clear to me that there was no intent to portray such feelings but only to make a trend out of it. She’s an amazing singer but Bella Ciao is not just a song, it’s part of italian history. There’s no respect for those who sacrificed their lives to protect their country and their freedom and this genuinely makes me sad.

When I listened to this song I got a shiver in my back. Playing in this way with an Italian historical song is despicable. Born before and developed during the Nazi regime, it has always been the most important song of the Italians of the Mameli anthem (Italian anthem). In Italy, there is respect for this song and there is also an association that protects the A.N.P.I (National Association of Italian Partisans). Evidently, the production does not know the story or is limited to listening to the La Casa Ci Carta series which also represents an outrage to Italian history. Unfortunately in the series, it emerges that the song is Spanish and this has been the cause of inquiries in Italy. I hope the artist realizes the damage done, apologizes, and deletes the song from KZhead

As a Russian, I can't help feeling proud by the way this song got popularized in the last 5 years. This is a really strong song, and it's a huge part of history of not only Italy, but also of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. Many of my grandfathers and grandmothers died for RESISTANCE, they literally were the partisans this song is singing about. (As you can see, I copied the style of another commenter, but I made it positive, let me explain why) In the Soviet times, we used to sing Italian national songs like Bella Ciao, translated into Russian and Ukrainian, very similar to how Italians used to sing Russian songs like Katyusha translated into Italian. It was "cultural appropriation", yes, but, first and foremost, it was and still is the CULTURAL EXCHANGE, and it still stays the symbol of international friendship and solidarity. So I am VERY glad there are versions of this song translated into Spanish and English, and adapted for the young audiences. I haven't seen the movie or the TV series, and I don't really care about them. The video might be trash, but the potent thing here is not the video, but the words of the song! The song got WAY more popular now, it's a fact. The listeners might see the trashy clip once or twice, but they will hear the song many more times, and they will eventually understand its true message. What's important in this particular clip is that it popularized this song, and its message is very clear, the partisans of the 1940s fought for our freedom, for the freedom of Europe, for the freedom of Asia, for the freedom of THE WORLD. Thanks to clips like this, it's not just the Russian, Ukrainian and Italian boomers who sing this song (by the way, no disrespect to the boomers, a lot of them are very smart and nice people), but the young people as well, people of the whole world finally finding out about the song and its true history.

Love the positive twist.
Being Russian, I understand the feelings of Italians, this is a sacred song of the patriots of Italy, and it was turned into a business, the same thing if the Sacred War was turned into this

I feel extremely outraged by this. "O bella ciao" is an historical italian song with such a strong and powerful meaning. As an italian I cannot accept this. Do you know the meaning of what you are singing? It is dedicated to all people who gave their lives to fight against nazism in Italy during WWII. It is something that belongs to our culture, to our roots, to our history. It is not something you can twerk on in a reggeton key.
Esatto, concordo. Da italiana resto veramente perplessa

It's a song about the resistance. You are correct about the history, but they have done nothing wrong here. If you have watched la casa de papel which is one of most succeeding shows you would know that the Spanish bank robbers were rebelling against corruption in the country. They are reanacting characters and implementing this song. Sorry to hear your offended by this but there is "twerking" to this song in the show.

I am a fan of the show, "La Casa De Papel". One of many reasons is because of the use of the song "Bella Ciao" and how they used it. I, of course, recognized the song. It's an internationally well known song and I am 26 years old. Since Becky G is only a year younger than me plus a background of studying music, I can only take an educated guess that she, most likely, already knew of the song before watching the show and that she, at least, knew of it's message as to why that song is so important in Italian history before doing this video. I repeat, that I am not sure. This is just my educated guess that makes the most sense as to why her knowledge of the impactful significance of that song is not translated through here. I hope she will give an interview on explaining the reasons-for/production-of the video of this song and giving the proper respectful mentioning of the Italian people whom suffered and gave their life through the Resistance for their country. That is what the song "Bella Ciao" is known for and I agree with the commenters that think that that part of Italian history should be recognized. After all, that is the inspiration for choosing to use that song for "Money Heist". The message of the show felt connected to the message of that song, and I think that should have, at least, been highlighted in(throughout) the video, in some way. It is always important to know/seek knowledge/inform-others of the history behind things, esp. really important and painful moments (like in Italy by the Nazi-Germans) that lead to the creation of beautiful songs (like "Bella Ciao")....so it's original value wont seem to have been lost and given an accidental downgraded "new" value (to those who don't know and the new generations) of it only being that amazing song "FROM" that awesome scene in "La Casa De Papel". I do want to say that as an homage to "La Casa De Papel"/"Money Heist", if the song had no further backstory, good job with costumes, choreography, and feeling in your voice and expressions, especially knowing that you come from humble beginnings and understand financial troubles. With that being said, great homage to "La Casa De Papel"; you just gotta rightfully add an homage to Italian history, since you are using this beautiful and impactful song.
yes
i love her and her music but i don’t think she even bothered to look up the real meaning behind this song. i looked up interviews or news of this remix’s release and all she said about it is that she’s honored to be apart of this money heist project because it’s so popular and she loves the show and all that jazz, nothing about where this song comes from or the meaning behind it :/

I'm not even Italian but I'm absolutely in love with this song
This particular video is horrible, I am Italian and I recommend watching other videos not disrespecting the culture. It’s not your fault at all, I’m just giving a recommendation. This lady is twerking while singing a song about a very special part of history.
After watching the money heist series I had to confirm why professor loved to sing it
I'm an Indian, when I listen any time this song. I feel another feeling i can't express my feelings it's like patriotic next level

Bro ye south Indian pilla chao ka copy h mahesh babu ka movie h business man usme h ye song copy kia h 😑
Ok
But the original is better
This is so disrespectful. My best mate is italian, im spanish-british and im actually disgusted. "Bella ciao" has a spot in italians hearts and is very strong in italian history.
I’m 100% Italian. My mom’s uncle and aunt were partisans and I absolutely love this modern version of “Bella Ciao.” So, I don’t understand all the upset people in the comments. Becky did a great job. At least she’s making the young generation get to know our history through this wonderful song. Thank you for this. Today is the “Festa della Repubblica” in Italy 🇮🇹 and I’m listening to this song to celebrate the resistance party and liberation of Italy day. Grazie Bella. ❤️
What is the meaning of this song will you please translate it in english who were partisans??

I am a True Italian. My grandfather and many other members of my family were the Piedmontese Resistance from the Chisone and Pellice valleys area.Hearing this song brings tears to my eyes.It is a pity the superficiality used by the masses regarding this song but I really respect Becky for bringing it back in a modern key.
Partisans didn’t even sing it genius. Didn’t get poplar again until after the war
Anyone may 2024?

This song is an anthem for all the revolutionarries in the world. This version had direspected to the meaning of the song and to the culture which it came about. It is as scared as El Pueblo unido !
my apologies for my dsylexia." disrespected" and "sacred" were the correct words above.
You might perhaps like this version in which the visuals ( mainly 'borrowed' from Riso Amaro ) portray the circumstances that inspired the song - kzhead.info/sun/iKmFncOwqpuwh3A/bejne.html. Listen with 🎧 to hear the bassline. Reply

Well I wonder how important WW2 lose ?????????????? please that's a joke 😂
Ridicula 😂
