DJ Octavio doesn't actually brainwash his troops. Judging from the DJ Octavio stickers on Marina's laptop, she still holds him in high regards. The Calamari Incantation more so opens the mind, causing octolings to reconsider fighting the inklings.

yeah, this for the most part is a good video that I think could really help some people get into the series, but there are some very obvious inaccuracies in here. It seems to me that they made a bunch of assumptions regarding the lore and just decided to present them as fact. Like the octarians being the ones to put up the sky-projecting screens around their domes (more likely the humans, but I suppose we don't technically know for sure) or Cuttlefish ordering Agent 3 to attack Agent 8 (iirc it's not even stated if he was present during 3 and 8's initial fight)

@@arktya considering Cuttlefish says "this fight isn't over" when Agent 8 wakes up, and how Inner Agent 3 is 8 doing mental exercise on how to beat them, I think those two did fought. 3 didn't go all out though, because 8 was humming that heavenly melody. I could be wrong, been awhile since I watched the Octo Expansion Cutscenes so I could be wrong.

Yeah, Octavio just uses a bunch of propoganda to make all of his troops militaristically obedient. Same thing with the "hypno shades" put on Callie, they made her obedient, not hypnotized, an issue on the translation department's part.

@@kaiburtenshaw2837 Tartar isnt necessarily trying to destroy them, he is making them perfect, or at least his twisted perception of perfection. Basically everyone was gonna get sanitized. Sanitization restricts the subjects freedom heavily so they cant make any mistakes, so theoretically it makes them perfect. They dont think or have their own opinions is just a hivemind.

fun fact: octavio is in his octopus form all the time so that he lives older. same thing with cuttlefish. he stays in that humanoid form to make sure he doesn't get too old too quick another fun fact: the inklings actually do think that octolings are inklings with weird hairstyles. in the news, the first time you see on the news pearl says something about marina looking strange and just supposed that marina was an inkling that had a strange hairstyle

One tiny objection to the lore: the only actual shades that have been comfirmed to be brainwashing was Callie's hypnoshades. There is actually no evidence for all the rest of the shades to actually be hypnoshades. Also, you don't exactly need hypnoshades to hypnotise people when you got propaganda! All we do know about all the other cool sunglasses is that they have some kind of interface that might help in battle

They know nothing of the Inklings or anything, WHY would they need to be mind controlled?? it's literally their home. At this point it seems that Splatoon 3 is not post apocalyptical (unless your talking about the original human apocalypse). Rather, the world was *always* like this and we're just finally seeing more of it. I suspect if Order had won we'd be back in some high-class city like Inkopolis rather then the seemingly low-class Splatsville.

I get why that's never going to be the case but I wish that we could get two Splatoon 3 games (so, basically using the Pokémon game formula) with them being called "Splatoon 3: Chaos" and Splatoon 3: Order" (with the "Chaos"-version being about atleast 5% more developed as that would be the "main version" for obvious reasons).

@@NZsaltz Because that seems like what a game company would do (atleast it seems like that to me but yeah, doing that'd be a bit dumb when I think about it for a second but it's not like Nintendo hasn't ripped others off and while it wasn't in terms of video-gaming stuff they actually made a rip-off of physical plastic Lego once Lego's patent on that had run out for the first time and while that wasn't a rip-off according to the law during the period of time between Lego's patent running out and them renewing it because of how that specific stuff works that didn't make it any less of a Lego rip-off once the patent was renewed) and it seems like they'd do so to me to "encourage" people to buy the "canonical" version of the game as the "Chaos"-version would technically be the "canonical" version of the story while what happens in the "Order"-version would be like some kind of alternate universe and it's not necessarily like an alternate universe version of something is as developed as or more developed than whatever it's an alternate universe version of. I do realize that that would be a bad excuse (as Nintendo themselves could take the "It's not necessarily like an alternate universe version of something is as developed as or more developed than whatever it's an alternate universe version of." bit and use that as an excuse as to why the "Order"-version of Splatoon 3 is subjectively worse than the "Chaos"-version) but hey, it is what it is.

All the TV shows, movies, games etc that exist in our universe existed before human were extinct in the splatoon universe. Even the splatoon games are part of the splatoon universe. The idols ( Callie, Marie, Pearl and Marina ) can break the 4th wall, so they know what SpongeBob, Transformers and TMNT are because they have visited our universe.

There’s actually one major event in the splatoon timeline which you forgot to include in this video: The Callie vs. Marie splatfest. This was the final splatfest hosted in the splatoon 1 era and is pretty much the reason many of splatoon 2’s events even happened. The tl:dr version of if goes like this: Marie won, squid sisters split due to peer pressure (no pun intended) callie went on holiday, marie started a talk show, off the hook picked up where the squid sisters left off.

Many people forget this detail and skim over the lore and wonder who agent 7 is yet we never reached that number in the first place. Edit: nobody said this but pearl and Marina are not agents 5 and 6 it was never stated or hinted at in the entire trilogy (so far. yeah, this for the most part is a good video that I think could really help some people get into the series, but there are some very obvious inaccuracies in here. It seems to me that they made a bunch of assumptions regarding the lore and just decided to present them as fact. Like the octarians being the ones to put up the sky-projecting screens around their domes (more likely the humans, but I suppose we don't technically know for sure) or Cuttlefish ordering Agent 3 to attack Agent 8 (iirc it's not even stated if he was present during 3 and 8's initial fight)
@@arktya considering Cuttlefish says "this fight isn't over" when Agent 8 wakes up, and how Inner Agent 3 is 8 doing mental exercise on how to beat them, I think those two did fought. 3 didn't go all out though, because 8 was humming that heavenly melody. I could be wrong, been awhile since I watched the Octo Expansion Cutscenes so I could be wrong.

A part of me likes to think Octavio pumped himself full of ink to prevent himself from getting shriveled up, only to get stuck in octo form because he's too inked up to turn human. Either that or it's the wasabi.

One tiny objection to the lore: the only actual shades that have been comfirmed to be brainwashing was Callie's hypnoshades. There is actually no evidence for all the rest of the shades to actually be hypnoshades. Also, you don't exactly need hypnoshades to hypnotise people when you got propaganda! All we do know about all the other cool sunglasses is that they have some kind of interface that might help in battle

There’s actually one major event in the splatoon timeline which you forgot to include in this video: The Callie vs. Marie splatfest. This was the final splatfest hosted in the splatoon 1 era and is pretty much the reason many of splatoon 2’s events even happened. The tl:dr version of if goes like this: Marie won, squid sisters split due to peer pressure (no pun intended) callie went on holiday, marie started a talk show, off the hook picked up where the squid sisters left off.

Even as a Splatoon fan who's played the game and explored the lore far too much this is entertaining
I’ve always really liked the design of the character but online multiplayer only game aren’t really the kind of game I enjoy so that was a really interesting video to watch!
They have single player modes. The lobby is largely optional after a certain number of victories to unlock new gear...
1 has a single player campaign, and 2 has two single player campaigns
They have story mode but it's not worth buying the game just for that
I like the online but the problem is when it goes down it’s down forever, but maybe ppl will make fan servers
The most terrifying part is definitely the "blending" one. I only played Splatoon one and had no idea about all this story afterthought. It is pretty ridiculous or hilarious so to say. What a great video though!

You skipped the part where Marie's solo career took off after a Splatfest chose her over her sister and that's why Callie was vulnerable to being abducted by DJ Octavio. (Also that DJ Octavio holds the Guinness record for being a victim of 'Stop Hitting Yourself'.)
Well it wasn't just Marie's solo career, Callies did as well, resulting in both became so busy they couldn't spend time with each other. Octavio probably sensed Callie's loneliness and manipulated her to "hear him out".
How in the hell did he perfectly predict the plot of splatoon 3. I love how we know the series so well we can predict its wildness to some degree.

The series I would love to see covered is any of the monster hunter games. I don't know if all the games share the same timeline/universe but picking 1 or 2 of the games which are closely related could be interesting. (monster hunter freedom unite would be cool)
That would really be great. I picked up Monster Hunter Stories 2, and I'm mostly just figuring out what's up with the setting for context clues. All of the monster hunter lore videos I've found have been "here's the environmental storytelling of a specific monster". The wiki is more concerned with tactics than lore
