Japan’s FASTEST BULLET TRAIN from Tokyo to Kyoto (the Shinkansen)!

2024 ж. 24 Мам.

We ride Japan's fastest bullet train from Tokyo to Kyoto! With Bobby from @LivingBobby we experience the Shinkansen, which is one of my favorite trains in the world!
A few cool things about our Shinkansen experience:
- We get to experience Tokyo station, the delicious japanese food and the ekiben (train bento)
- We ride the Tokaido Shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto, with incredible speeds of almost 300kmh (around 186 mph!)
- We decided to get a two seater in the standard class, which for me is just as good as being first class on the Shinkansen.
I hope you enjoy this video as it was a super fun one to make!

  • Originally, ekiben was sold through an open window of a train while the train was making a stop at a station, kind of like selling hotdogs at a baseball stadium. The Ekiben vendors would swiftly approach each window, and hand you the ekibens you bought before the train left. But trains got fast, windows became unopenable, and gone are those days, but the ekiben still lives.

  • Japan is a country with very strange people and culture. It's weird in a good way. Japanese people pay close attention to every detail. Everything is very careful. This is reflected in the Shinkansen's cleanliness and its quiet, vibration-free performance that makes it hard to believe it's traveling at 170 miles per hour.

  • i think, about what rail way in Japan is not only shinkansen bullet train, but also ordinary rail ways have nice and characteristic ekibens at each big stations. Local stations have traditional dish ekiben. There exist more than 3000s different kinds of ekiben in Japan. Some times Japanese Ekiben Otaku appears in TV. They travel all over Japan by rail way for eating ekiben and they put the score for ekiben on the ekiben ranking. So ekiben companies are watching the ranking.

  • Currently, Japan's fastest Shinkansen 🚄 is the Tohoku Shinkansen Hayabusa, which has a maximum speed of 320 km/h. Although it's expensive, the luxury Gran Class is the best, so be sure to give it a try the next time you're in Japan. By the way, my recommended ekiben is Yamagata's Beef Domanka Bento. Yamagata's shinkansen Tsubasa is also cool and it will be reborn next year.

    • I'm from Kyoto. The Tokaido Shinkansen (Tokyo to Shin-Osaka) has many tight curves and its maximum speed is limited to 285km/h. The ekiben introduced at the end of the video is a famous beef tongue bento from Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture. People from other countries may be reluctant to eat beef tongue, but in Japan, it is a very popular part of beef.

And those Shinkansen lines I've mentioned are very expensive. If you want faster Shinkansen you should go north to Sapporo or Hokkaido, speed wise it's faster than the N700 Shinkansen.

    @roadrunner793@roadrunner7937 ай бұрын
    • Hakodate is the furthest you can go north, a few more years to go to Sapporo. 320 kph is only from Utsunomiya area to Morioka, then down to 260 kph to Shin Aomori, and then 210 kph to Hakodate, but drops to 140 kph through the Seikan tunnel.

  • 5:19 The onigiri filling is salted and grilled roe from a fish called cod. To be honest, most Japanese people resist this salt and flavor. However, the uncooked mentaiko (明太子:めんたいこ;mentaiko) is quite delicious. This is a fish ovary that has been dyed red by chili peppers and is housed in an actual fish egg bag. It's a little spicy, but the flavor is strong. It's spicy so don't eat a lot. When it comes to seafood eggs in Japan, salmon roe, mentaiko, and sea urchin are generally known, and all of them are in the high-class category.

    • Indonesia asked Japan to build a high-speed railway. Japan conducted a detailed investigation and handed over the plan to the Indonesian side. However, Indonesia changed to a pro-China government. Indonesia handed over the research materials created by Japan to China as is. China used the stolen Japanese materials as they were. The Japanese government is very angry about this matter. They will no longer cooperate with Indonesian railways. Indonesia adopted China's plan because it was cheaper than Japan's price, took a very short period of time, and did not require government investment. However, that was all a lie; the project was later than Japan's proposal, and the budget was higher than Japan's proposal, and the Indonesian government had to finance it. In addition, the actual noise level is louder than announced by China, causing damage to nearby residents. The low noise was also a lie. They need to drive at a slower speed to reduce noise. Japan's high-speed railways have very strict environmental considerations such as noise, and noisy operations are not permitted. For this reason, Shinkansen trains have many noise countermeasures, but China's high-speed railways seem to have none of them. All lines of China's high-speed railways have huge debts and are unlikely to be sustainable in the future. Maintaining infrastructure is expensive. Their government seems unable to calculate the cost of infrastructure. China's railways have many breakdowns and accidents, and China's secretive nature is more focused on blocking information than making improvements. I'm worried about the future.

  • Somebody else may have already pointed out, but in case they didn't, the 2nd Train Station Onigiri contains Tarako (Cod Roe), and the meat in the self-heating bento is Beef Tongue (famous in Sendai, Miyagi prefecture). Bon Appetit !
