How I love five-liter plastic bottles. I'll show you how to use them wisely in the kitchen.

1) Mother-in-law does not recognize purchased gifts. I made her a practical thing from a five-liter bottle: she took it and asked for more.
A five-liter plastic bottle is a valuable item after its use. Few people throw them in the trash. It is mainly used for household needs, especially for those who live in their own yard. Its main advantage is durability.
If you cut off the top of a five-liter bottle, you get a very convenient container. And there are many options for using it. And the main advantage here is that it is transparent and everything can be seen through the walls.
If you attach a handle, you get a full-fledged bucket for watering or something else. These bottles are convenient to use as storage containers and can be easily adjusted to any shelf height. Planting flowers in such a pot is also an option, or covering the planted plant in cold weather. Any option has the right to exist.
If none of this method of use suits you, then look at the basket I made, maybe someone will need this idea.
My mother-in-law does not accept any gifts so that we do not spend money and gives them back to us. She says she has everything. Therefore, I will give her a basket, let her collect eggs in it. It's free.
Description of work:
- Cut off the top of the bottle at any height, depending on what it is needed for. For this I used a stationery knife. I trimmed all sharp edges with scissors.
- I needed two plastic handles. These are usually found on boxes of household appliances and they are basically the same size everywhere.
- On two opposite sides of the bottle I made two slits for handles. It is convenient to make them with a soldering iron, then the edges melt and become stronger.
- I installed the handles, securing them with holders, just like on the boxes.
- To finish the edge, I took some tape and glued it with hot glue on both sides. Immediately the basket took on a finished look.
- Now you can decorate in any way. I attached parallel yellow electrical tape.
- I found felt figurines of cockerels in my supplies, now their place is here.
The basket is ready, and it is no worse than purchased. My mother-in-law was pleased and asked for another one.
2) 5-liter bottles can always be used. I'll show you a cool idea for maintaining order with their help.
Trying to maintain our health, we drink artesian clean water from 5-liter bottles. Some empty bottles are thrown away. and some stay at home because they can always come in handy.
It’s good when there are special containers for this in the yards, this is the easiest way to do it. But for some, plastic bottles are a way to save money. They are used to make all sorts of things for housekeeping - washbasins, flower pots, containers for storing sugar, cereals, small greenhouses, organizers...
And there are so many garden figurines made, and there is nothing wrong with that; many live modestly and simply in saving mode.
It’s easy to make a really useful thing for your home out of 5-liter bottles; no one will even see it if the appearance bothers you, but the benefits and space savings are enormous.
I think it even looks cute. This is a storage container.
The problem of plastic bags is familiar to everyone. We are used to collecting them in packs and keeping a bag of them in the kitchen.
I suggest making a compact space out of a 5-liter bottle and placing all the bags there. You can safely throw away what doesn’t fit, but I know for sure that everything will fit there.
Here's what I did. Using a stationery knife, I cut a hole on the conical side near the cap of such a size that a hand could easily fit into the bottle.
I used electrical tape to smooth the edges. You can melt them with a hot iron.
The result is a container that will not take up much space in the corner of the closet. The view is not spoiled, but order is ensured.

This bottle is also suitable for storing vegetables under the sink or on the balcony.
The difference is that you need to make holes with a soldering iron for good ventilation. In this case, you can unscrew the lid.
Potatoes, onions, garlic, carrots will always be at hand and there will be less dirt from them.
