As a possible explainationfor all thore people asking in the comments to feed the cows properly, as an indian i know that the main reason for this is that india is a heavily agriculturally dependant country. And because of the population of almost 1.3 billion in such a small concentration compared to china and usa there is heavy pressure on agricultural land. If we have to increase the grazing lands we will have to cut down thosands of protected forest which is btw less than the desired 33% for a country like india, or we will have to reduce the NSA( net sown area) which would lead us to famine. To maintain balance there is tight contrains in the area managements. I see no one complaining about the tamilian workers who look lean and skinny. And i see no one complaining about the colonizers who looted 43trillion worth assets from our subcontinent which lead to lack of tech and funds.... The world is upside down...

For some reason this was both simple and complex yet also beautiful in its place in nature.
It is amassing that for a few thousands years they were able to extract the oil by this traditional method using only animal power, stone wood and a few motorcycle tires.

If you know basic biology you know that food is required for energy so obviously they are being fed. Now as to if they should be fed more, maybe idk cuz I'm not in agriculture but what I do know is that these people have to provide for family and themselves. While not making much money for their efforts so you say they should feed the cows more and starve their kids and family?
