    • @@numnumb5969 When the weather gets warm keep an eye out for people riding motorcycles with no helmet and no windscreen. They usually have sunglasses on, and those sunglasses don't end up on the side of the road, they stay on their faces right where they're supposed to be.

  • I was a 63B (mechanic) in the Army for a cav scout battalion and I can verify that these are pieces of shit. I replaced every single part on that monstrosity at least once for almost 5 years. It was good to see they finally moved on.

  • Next to the coolant expansion tank is a plug. If you unplug it the radiator fan runs constantly. If you have an MRE box you can totally use the cardboard as a temporary thermostat gasket.

  • I work on these here in kansas on Fort Riley, that looks like a M1097. They are notorious for overheating! It's always the fan clutch solenoid, time delay or the fan clutch itself. If you unplug the time delay the fan clutch should kick on if not your fan clutch is seized, if it is there's 6 screws on the back of it loosen them and tap around the fan clutch and sometimes it'll spring out then tighten the screws back up. It should kick on at about 180 degreese.

    • Yep, it makes the actuator/fan run constantly. Fuel mileage sucks…worse than normal, but it will save the motor.

  • As a mechanic in the military and having to work on those all the time I will say the fact that he made it that far before that tire blew kinda shocked me. And them gauges on that thing don’t always work right that’s one of the big problems we have on ours. Well the gauges and the flashers in them are our main problems usually

    • The main problems other than bulbs and the turn signal stock, are the fuel pumps, and the PCB. They always go out, because the unit is too lazy to fix the actual problem and they just want the quick solution. It also doesn't help when the operators do their PMCS and don't notice it doesn't have any fluids, because it's all burned up. But if I try to order the correct parts, that's a problem because it costs to much. It's really stupid that I have to let them destroy it before I can order the correct parts.

  • The Virgin River Gorge is a fun drive heading south bound from St.George to Mesquite. There is a hiking trail called Cedar Pocket Wash Trailhead that I recommend visiting and looking around and is off exit 18 "Cedar Pocket". Also, great video!

  • I did 2700 in a fox body lx 4banger that was 32 years old at the time. Lol It constantly over heated and actually only made it about 1/3 the way there before it chugalugged itself out. Little thing was an awesome car though despite being ragged out by the previous owners before it was gifted to me. Loved it. And watching this threw me right back behind the wheel of that little stang, cruising on the highways of p.a on my way back to Texas. If you haven’t done a full road trip through the us by car. Do it. You only live once so trust me the views you’ll see are worth it.

  • I spent 6yrs in the USMC in a heavy machine gun platoon, we had the hard top humvee's, I don't know how they designed them, all the heat from the engine comes right in to the passenger compartment, you can cook a can of soup on the engine block though.

  • Death Valley would've been the hottest desert you drove through, thankfully it was at night so yaknow, only a little less death. Hell of a trip for a HMMV dude, if you can imagine also wearing long sleeve uniforms and pants, over 25lb. of kevlar and hard plates and a helmet-- then our ammo and equipment to bulk on top of that, then you'd have a little more of an idea of how miserable these beasts are when we were on deployments haha. Drink water! Enjoy the 50mph steed of greatness my dude.

  • they always overheat, a little trick is to disconnect the fan clutch actuator which allows the fan to run continuously, it helps tremendously.

  • I just drove from los angeles to dover south carolina to take my friend his harley, then i drove to alabama to help with the hurricane and just now getting back home.. 6,160 miles in 7 days.. that was the craziest thing I’ve ever done.. highway 40 is washed out in Tennessee, the roads in Tennessee are probably the worse roads in this country.. thought i snapped an axle on my trailer.. ended up being a broken leaf spring shackle bolt.. sheared right off.. took 70 cases of bottled water and canned foods down there. I hope it helps

  • I work on these for a living. Unplug the relay for the fan. Will help the overheating problem. Also the driveline rubbing is caused by the body mount bushings being wore out or gone.

  • 2:52 unplug the time delay module (little flat box with plugs next to the washer reservoir) the fan will stay on your gas mileage will suck even more but it won't overheat. I spent six years working on Humvees for a contractor on Ft Polk and we had to do that hack more than once on our own recovery trucks
