    • right? like i am extremely grateful that my disability is invisible because i don't want the unnecessary attention or for others to feel sympathy for me, but at the same time it can be so frustrating on my bad days when im really going through it with my disease, and i have to explain to people that i understand it doesn't look like it but i am sick, i can't always do things the same way or at the same pace as others, and unfortunately it always will be like that. but ever since i got diagnosed i've always laughed at myself because honestly feeling sad about it when i can't control that i have it won't do anything. laughter is the best medicine there is and seeing all these guys bringing the same type of mindset to a stage where others can see it is not only inspiring but makes me so happy. having a disability isn't a sentence for a terrible life, it's just something some of us have to deal with and i hope people that have disabilities see these guys and learn how to laugh at themselves cause we're really all on the same ride here ☺️

    • never say ‘differently abled’. it’s incredibly disrespectful. disabled isn’t a bad word, just say that

      @ellieworrallo2250@ellieworrallo22502 жыл бұрын
    • I really do like that term a lot because most people, except for you Ellie W. and I’m sure a few more, don’t like to be called disabled. I have a couple of friends that are “differently able” and they’ve told me before that they don’t like the word disabled. To each his own and Ellie W., you are definitely entitled to your opinion as to what you would rather be referred to as. Most people automatically feel uncomfortable when around a disabled person. So it’s nice to know that there is another term for it so that people don’t feel offended. I’ve never focused on a person’s inabilities just their abilities. I think all of us have some form of disability or another, some visible others are not. I think most people will understand what I’m trying to say. Anyway, God bless all of you. 🙏🏼

    @neuro_pace4202@neuro_pace42022 жыл бұрын
    • As a teen with epilepsy too, I also joke about it. My advice is: don't think about it as a disability, more as an ABILITY. I once had a seizure when walking to school and some stranger was standing over me and once I was fully awake but abit hazy he said "Are you alright?". I had just fell on the hard pavement so my mood wasn't great, I was half 'awake' and I thought it'd be funny so I just said "Yeah, I just got possessed for a second there, it happens. ". I then saw my mother behind me letting out a sigh and saying "She has epilepsy.". I promise you, it does get better with time-the more you joke about it, the more you accept it. You can't CHANGE or FIX it so, the next best thing is to be comfortable with it and go with your gut if you think it's going to happen; there's a 70-90% chance it will so its better to be prepared than ignore it as nerves. Hope you are doing well now! These are just tips from me and things that help me. I hope you're doing better now! -some teen girl on the Internet

    • People with disabilities are normal people. They just do things differently than others. I am disabled and am still learning what I can do and can't do. I understand your sentiment and appreciate it. We can choose to give up or we can choose to figure out our new normal and hopefully, over time, figure out how to go on and achieve your dreams.

    • I'm not sure I have autism what does have it's advantages (not a disability a different operating system as someone put it), dyslexia what I can imagine having a advantage and dyspraxia what is about hand and eye co ordination I can imagine working roundit but I'm not sure how it could be a winner.

    • I have a disability since I was 13 years. I cannot run, jump, climb the stairs (I need a banister) , be on my toes, wear high heals (I wish), my balance has many times over the years caused me to fall and have broken twice my ankle, and my wrist and my collar bone, (only once). My illness is called Charcot-Marie-Tooth. With all this, I worked all my life (now I am retired), travelled, enjoy life and still enjoying it, yes I am limited but I am grateful I can feel my legs, able to do my shopping, visit friends. Long time ago, when I knew there will be no cure, I decided against all odds, not to let my illness takes the best of me.

    • Thank you for your perspective. I've always tried to uplift, and reassure co -workers that not everyone can appreciate how AWESOME each one of us are

      @carlajohnson9369@carlajohnson93693 жыл бұрын
    • Carla Southwell Wow. That’s just so insulting. I’m a blind person. Do you think your inability to sing as well as you would like, is the equivalent of being blind? NO! I am disabled. I am not differently able. That’s completely minimizing the difficulty we go through. I deal well with my disability but it completely dominates my life. Its not like I was given a choice. I’ve learned to have a great life but there is no way it’s been just a little hindrance. We don’t exist to make you feel inspired and you don’t understand what it’s like to be disabled unless you are. So don’t compare a difference in talents to having a disability.

      @judyives1832@judyives18323 жыл бұрын
    • There is absolutely such a thing as a disability. Nothing wrong with finding inspiration from any source (I don't agree with the others being cranky about that and claiming you're using disabled people as inspiration porn) but it's not okay to perpetuate euphemism-rhetoric that erases the actual handicapped experience. Disabilities are real, it's appropriate to call them what they are, and to refuse to use the term implicitly invalidates the struggles of those who are disabled.
