The Crashes of 2023 - UK Motorsport

Another season of British Motorsport comes to a close, and what a year of racing it has been! This year I attended a total of 32 race meetings hosted by a range of different clubs at a good variety of race circuits.
This is the annual 'end of year' crash compilation from the past season, and with a grand total of 17 damage filled minutes of quick-fire action, this was yet another big year writing off a few more race cars.
The circuits visited this year include Brands Hatch, Donington Park, Castle Combe, Silverstone and Thruxton, with racing put on by the BRSCC, BARC, 750MC, CSCC, MSVR and many many more!
What a year it has been; always unfortunate when people damage their pride and joy but hopefully we will see everyone back out on circuit again in the future.
Now we look on towards next year, I'm excited to see what it will bring with a good few meetings already noted as absolute musts for the year ahead; Happy New Year to all and I will see you all in 2024!

  • Me and a few friends were about 30 feet away from that final truck crash inside Druids. It was pretty scary, to be honest. If it wasn't for the tree to the left of the overpass, that red truck was coming through, a kid was hit by debris (sustained a minor cut) but could have been so much worse. Glad everyone involved was okay.

  • 16minutes of reasons why ive given up racing. Crashing on your own is one thing but some idiot pushing you off, hitting you, not standing on the brakes when they spin...all things that leave you with a big bill. And C1/Ka type cars roll stupidly easily!

    • Everyone who races is going to crash at some point, if you can't take that, maybe you're right, it's not for you I've seen the same moaning about driving standards in the pages of old autosports from the 80s/90s, so is it getting worse, or is just all of it getting filmed these days? Answers on a postcard...

    • Ive competed for over 30yrs, in everything from circuit racing to rallycross, rallying, autotesting and hills climbing. Ive had my fair share of shunts but can hand on heart say ive never ever caused another competitor money by pushing them off or letting my car keep rolling back onto a track in front of them or go for a non existant gap. Maybe ive just been lucky or maybe its why im not an F1 star like most of us but probalby mostly because i have to pay my own bills and yet i still have a shed load of glass and silverware. Yes i do think it's gotten worse. There have always been shunts, always will be but the deliberate pushing off, shoving wide, not lifting when a crash can be avoided.....thats where its getting worse. At the sharp end things are always edgy, always have been, but the stupid shunts down in 15th and 20th place, they are the issue. Watch these sort of videos and you start to see the same cars, the same drivers crashing over and over.......and it's rarely the guys at the sharp end. Sorry this is so long :-)

  • Why do they allow people to race the Citroen C1 if it's so prone to flipping over?

    @ghost4004@ghost40044 ай бұрын
    • The same way people take the risk of crashing at 150mph+ in faster category's. But besides, the C1's aren't exactly 'Rapid', most of their roll-over's are from digging into the sand, and by that time they've scrubbed 3/4 of their speed.
