Today, after much request, we are FINALLY diving into the iilluminaughtii situation. I wanted to take the time to go over everything she has been criticized about over the years to recent events regarding Legal Eagle, the Sad Milk group members such as One Topic, The Click, Oz Media, Wonderstruck and iilluminaughtii herself. As we go down this nearly two hour long rabbit hole, you will see a very interesting pattern of behavior when it comes to Blair and the way that she treats people.
As of this time, Blair has made only one response to the initial twitter threads made from Legal Eagle and members from Sad Milk. She has not responded to the more serious accusations made after her original response video and there is no telling if she eventually will respond.

  • True story; years ago, when my friend was in college his car got stolen. The car thief left a plastic storage tub on the curb next to where the car had been with my friend's college textbooks and his CD collection inside. I don't think I've ever actually heard it in a derogatory manner directed at a ND or disabled person personally (I'm 27 this month so that may be why). Anyways! It felt so weird to see Blair use that as ammo while she herself failed to research her earlier Autism Speaks videos (she did correct/redo things later - after a lot of asking from Autistic people) and then seeing her pretend to be an autist on an alt account - all to hurt someone else's reputation. • People who are discussing this drama are failing to mention a large piece when it comes to The Click. He is Swedish. Those videos came from when he was learning English. Because of his “American sounding” dialect it could be easily be concluded he learned a lot of English from watching American media, like KZhead. • the social context in which someone learns a word is VERY important to remember when discussing problematic words, and I can confirm a LOT of our media uses that word VERY casually even now, but especially back then - heck, Twitch and a lot of other platforms still don't even consider the R word to actually be against TOS at all and wont punish for its use. but also, I genuinely question the honesty of anyone who claims that the word was "never" seen as okay socially, especially when discussing 10 years ago because 10 years ago the R slur was treated as a literal parallel to calling something stupid (and 10 years ago we also know what word was casually being used to refer to 'stupid' as well) i'm ranting at this point but I just never like people who try to just revise history and act like they lived in some magic bubble of 'better people' and never once in their life heard it from friends/family. 'it was a different time' isn't an excuse, its a reminder that people don't always know back then what they know now and you can't judge past incidents based on current knowledge. there are people who genuinely still to this day have no idea the G word for Romani is actually a slur.

    • That was exactly my thought! I live in northern Europe (not in Sweden but our cultures are VERY similar) and the word was adopted into our slang and used as an alternative for words like ”dumbass” amongst friends. There was a different word used as a slur and it had nothing to do with the ”r-word”. Policing language, particularly from the past, is unproductive especially when it depends so heavily on your culture and upbringing.

Then people started asking Blair for it and hers came out… I want to say a couple weeks later. Since Blair started as a reddit channel, she was used to relying on using other people’s information and not compiling any research (let alone investigating). I stopped watching Blair because her content was way too repetitive; since I follow financial crime cases, I could instantly tell where she got her information and how plagiarized it was. • When someone shows you who they are, believe them. I believe the Click is from Sweden from the sound of his accent, and English isn’t his first language. As someone who is multi lingual I have accidentally said something that is inappropriate in German because I didn’t know the context. I had just translated the word in my head. Languages are living and ever changing things. While there are some words that are never ok to say, I am older (53) and when I was growing up the “r” slur was commonly used by people. Even in the press. Things have changed for the better. We are all more aware, but I believe in the Clicks case it may have been a bit of a context/ still learning English. But yeah, i think accidentally saying a slur (or just something really offensive) in a language you're not native in is really believable And honestly? Even if Click hadn't elaborated on the context and just said that it wasn't with ill intend. I would've simply assumed he didn't know what it meant, seeing as i had a similar experience

    • He is Swedish yes, but I very much doubt he didn't know that word is a slur. We study English from early on and most people watch TV and read in English often enough that as an adult, you know that is a slur. Even so, if you have never used a bad word even once, congrats, but I think most people have said something they shouldn't at some point, including slurs. It really should not be something that is used against him this way.

She just had to be that "extra" during her apology - and with that - she ultimately fucked herself up by indirectly outing herself as a manipulative narcissist. If there's a reason why she's now silent on that topic, it's probably because her own legal counsel might have gotten through to her to shut up before she starts inserting that other foot inside her mouth. If I was the Wonderstruck Guy's legal counsel, they could pretty much use Blair's "iilluminaughtii exposed" video as more physical evidence against her. The fact that she exposed the Wonderstruck Guy's mental health issues in that video - especially as he WAS an employee when that issue took place. This means that Blair Zon is liable for a civil action invasion of privacy lawsuit as well. Under the suit, it would state: *"An employer that discloses private facts or lies about an employee may be held accountable in a civil action for invasion of privacy or defamation".* To be honest, I'm hoping Wonderstruck Guy and his legal counsel will do that as it provides more leverage for them because the release of private, CONFIDENTIAL information is basically an attack on him.

      @beth4928@beth4928 Жыл бұрын
    • @@SweetDemoness Yeah, no, that's not reality in many (probably most) places. All dogs here are $300+ here (unless they're 10+ years old...) and they require a home visit, and all vets you've had in the last 10 years. They look at your interactions with said dog or cat and decide, due to their own opinion, whether you're a good fit or not... except that's not how adopting an animal works. You don't spend 5 minutes with it in front of strangers who are judging you and then suddenly your "compatibility" is set in stone. It's ridiculous. My coworker cannot adopt from them because they accused her of not treating her cat when it had a disease nearly a decade into the past when that wasn't even the case, it was that they treated her and she didn't survive treatment. Regardless she was blacklisted from that shelter. You have to let these people into your home and to prod into your history just so you can own an animal. They have a bunch of dogs and cats, and they are extremely picky about whom they let adopt from their shelter. And that's just the closest one to me. It is cheaper and FAR easier to just find someone locally who needs to rehome their dog. I have a huge apartment and the go-ahead from my landlord and they will still not let me adopt ANY dog because I don't have a fenced in back yard... but I have a massive park and walking trails all around my home that I frequent and a local dogpark for socialization (and other dogs in the apartment complex). I am more than active and have plenty of time to devote to a dog. (hell, I live alone so they'd be the only other breathing being here) Of course it's not as difficult as adopting a child, but it's still difficult as hell. Because of that I don't deal with shelters, I find people through social media and rescue them from even having to go to the shelter in the first place. I realize all (or even most) are probably not this picky and ridiculous, but enough shelters are that it's a turn off for many people. You can't tell people to "adopt" instead of "shop" and then make it next to impossible to match your outrageous standards. People are going to do what's easier and cheaper, and around here literally anything else is both of those things. Shelters are not always wholesome places looking out for the animals they house, in fact, they're prone to being under-staffed, under-funded, and many are rife with abuse whether intentional or not (mostly neglect). Fact of the matter is, even though I would never use a breeder, they have a reputation to uphold and know more about the breed that they are breeding and are more knowledgeable about how to take care of it and are more responsible than a shelter is. Ending this long-winded post, the point is that shelters are NOT the only way to adopt, and honestly, aren't always the best way. Whether you buy from shelters, rescue from people needing to get rid of their pet quickly due to life happening, or you purchase from a breeder, overpopulation will not stop.

Thing is I was there for the rSlash drama (when Blair called out rSlash for allegedly buying subs, it turned out to be false). Because of that I somehow I wasn't so shocked when Click first made his twitter thread. No I wasn't really shocked until I saw her video, where she accused mostly Click and Wonder. It was bad. It suddenly felt very wrong, and then when click came out with his video I started getting Creepshow Art vibes. That feeling only intensified when Wonder's video came out. • Not to mention Click isn't a native English speaker. It doesn't excuse the use of the word. But as a teenager who lived in non-english speaking country and still learning English, some words might not have the same implications and impacts for him as someone native who grew up speaking English and surrounded by native English speakers. It's all about learning and improving through mistakes and experiences. I think Click is around the same age as me and when I was a teenager (a non-native English speaker who live in Asia), the word being a slur wasn't a widespread knowledge yet. It funny how she never acknowledged that Click has apologized, and learnt from it and stopped using the word.

    • @@leew.4987 the thing about English slurs (I think the idea of a "slur" doesn't even exist in many other languages...) when you're not native, even when you're fluent (maybe even especially if you're fluent) you wouldn't have learnt about them at school, the only way to come across them is usually just hanging around people using them and guessing the meaning from context (for example assuming r-slur is just slang word for "stupid"). Especially when you have reached some more fluent level you don't check each and every new word you come across, just get the meaning from how it is being used. There's also an issue of English native speakers who are aware of problems with those words often don't explain why you shouldn't use them (in some cases it is about a cultural context specific to a country) and have a very vicious reaction and assume you're the worst person in the world...

      @blairfujin@blairfujin Жыл бұрын
    • @@blairfujin I think that a lot of people, even native speakers probably make that kind of assumption when first hearing the R slur. I don’t think it’s fair to come down on someone so hard when they’re honestly ignorant of the context. English is probably super difficult just because of all the cultural rules surrounding it. I immigrated to another country (to teach ESL at first) and often think about all the times I probably said something rude in the native language. Luckily most people I’ve come across have been understanding, but it frustrates me how unempathetic native English speakers can be. As an American I hate how much we tend to assume that everyone knows and adheres to our rules and customs. :/

Learning a content creator I really liked and was excited to watch new videos from is really like that, I had to immediately unsubscribe. I know what it's like to be used and not realize it until everything all goes to hell and still feel bad about ever defending that person years later. • Definitely hit close to home. My case is slightly different, but the isolation and being a fearful puppet... that was me. I'd preemptively tell off and cut off people I knew had "hurt her", and defend her. I hoped that if she caught wind of it, she would appreciate it... and she did. She is so good at lovebombing, it made it almost feel worth it. But if she perceived the slightest disloyalty (anything that was below 110%), BOY would that change her tone. I've never been made to feel so small in my life. If I started crying from it, that would make her even angrier a lot of the time. She said it was manipulative and made her feel bad, which was a crime because she was the one being wronged after all. How dare I start crying when she berated me, because it was me who made her mad in the first place! And now she had to feel cornered into comforting ME? What a monster I was. If I tried to apologise, that would make her angry as well, because that was useless to her. I tried to follow her own apology-template (how I'd seen her apologise in the past on rare occasions, or stories about when she had wronged someone) and ask if there was anything I could do to make her feel better... that would make her angry because I was putting the responsibility on her to fix what I did to her. I don't even know how I would get back in her good graces in those situations. I think I either rode it out or would join her narrative in how awful I was. I vaguely recall making empathetic sounds as she went on long tirades over how hurt she was by me. There was only one way to not be abused, and it was to join her against myself. Never explain or clarify anything. Never stick up for yourself. It was never worth it. She would hold on to every slight forever. She would become more irate and impatient, once telling me to just say "ok" and "admit" she was right instead of "making her" wear me down in a 3h skypecall. Yeah, it was my fault that we would have those long hour calls. She was sick of it. It built up so much rage in the pit of my stomach. I couldn't defend myself, though I sometimes tried. She was like... in her mid to late 30s while I was still only 23-25 years old and dealing with loneliness and depression. I'm in my mid 30s now and god, when I make friends with people under 25 I'm a little paranoid of being too dominant or condescending to them in any way... cus she would frequently use my youth against me. Because she was a lot older, she by default had higher credibility than I in our friendship. We spent every stinking day together over skype, sometimes 9h straight. For about 2 years, then were a bit more distanced the 3rd year... which was worse because she and I were in the same community and she still acted with the same entitlement and even more rage... just with a LOT less lovebombing inbetween. When that community disbanded we finally went our separate ways completely. Almost. We still had an insane email exchange by the time I was in my later 20s and I could finally stand up for myself. Years later, shockingly, she actually sent me an email apologising for how she treated me. I recognise how incredibly rare it is for anyone to get that kind of thing. I'm not looking yhat gift horse in the mouth, even though it's sometimes tempting to ask if she believes she was wrong in certain situations... because while she is a lot better at handling her rage, she still displays some tendencies she used to have. We're not in active contact except for a catch-up call every other year or so, and I'll be in the chat of some of her livestreams. Man I didnt plan on going that deeply into it 😂 I guess brain got sucked back into that period for a bit there and had to ride it til the end. But maybe it's a worthwhile read to someone who's been through something like that.

While lewd’s piece was not NSFW, it was clearly intended to be sexualized, the bikini piece wasn’t. The amount of skin shown isn’t the issue. That being said, Blair’s reaction was over the top. She leveraged her audience to drive a smaller creator off the internet when she could have just said “hey, that makes me uncomfy, can you take it down please”. They probably didn’t even know that she felt that way-I didn’t know that she felt that way until now and I’ve known plenty of people who aren’t comfortable with NSFW of their characters.
