In his debut season for Barça, Ilaix Moriba became one of the big talents of Barça's future generation. Now though, his Blaugrana days are already behind him, and we might never see him reach his true potential. I would even go as far as saying he's wasted his talent, and in this video I'll tell you why!
I'm Escobarça and I talk about FC Barcelona on here (obviously). If you enjoy the content, then make sure to leave a like and subscribe!

Greedy parents and agents . They are destroying young players careers . The money will come but let the players develop properly and grow and later the money would come. But greediness on the players path too .
It was an ill-advised move from the get-go, he played a few games with the first team and he really thought he was the new Pogba... the support system around him was toxic, who takes a young player destined to play for Barca to other smaller teams this early just for a quick payday? The money would've come eventually.
Am sure the likes of Gavi will be looking at that and make sure he tells his agent… Don’t fuck this up.. I want my contact with Barca and Barca only 👌
@@bolaremyjr yep he is signing a new contract soon confirmed by fabrizio
@@bolaremyjr LOL. You guys believe the players should not entrust their careers to people who carted about them their entire lives but to snakes like LaPorta and Alemany😂😂😂😂
@@emmanuelenyinwa1443 yeah snakes like Laporta and Alemany that revived the club at the point of death
Bartemeou had given him a contract of 2 Million a year at the age of 17 and he still wanted more.
He GOT more. It's called NEGOTIATION.
@@emmanuelenyinwa1443 That's not the point, he sure did, but risked his game time and prospects for that.
@@sarthakjoshi693 the point is its different president and board, so yeah.
he was in la Masia for 10 years, and he was nurtured in la Masia it means he was shaped to be the future Barca player and he has been given the chance to grow in the first team but instead, he choose money over his growth. I was really like him before and think his talent is unique cus he got the strong physicality to hold the ball and a good technique to be a midfielder, its too bad he waste his chance like this. Well, we got Kessie now who is better than him and I like Kessie a lot
did you compare him with kessie cuz they both black?😂
He left cus he knew Barca was shit before xavi who actually used youth.
@@titan8084 not at all... Koeman liked him a lot, over Puig.

More like “delayed progress”. But certainly still a promising talent. Given he is only 19 years , he has time ahead of him to reach his potential.
The fact that when Xavi came he wanted to come back, this is one thing that shows money isn’t always the most important thing
If he didn’t leave , we will not see GAVI!!! Gavi way much more hungrier and he also plays with Passion for the badges!!! Barca 4 Life
nah gavi would have still came thru, he is much better
The play different roles. Maybe if you said we wouldn't see Nico
@@nchabelengspeaks5023 I think nico would have still came through because he is the closest player we’ve got to busquets.
Surprising to hear that Gavi is better than Moriba. Did he get the amount of game time gavi is getting now? He didn't stay long in the first team. They are both different players but if Moriba had stayed back and playing in the first team now, you would not be making these comments.
@@chimaeke8103 He did get lot of playing time and was loved by Messi and the other guys. He became a regular in the team like Gavi started last year but he didn’t wait to earn his spot.

Gents, he is only 19. Still a long way to go before writing him off. Drogba only turned pro at 21 and look at the heights he reached...
great video. moriba at his peak was valued over gavi - he literally could have become a semi consistent starting player for barca. crazy how careers can change so quickly
Bad advice has destroyed his career
Another example is xavi Simmons who is now at PSV and doing quite well. Honestly, I thought his move to RB LeipZig was quite smart, and would be a great opportunity to jump leap over into a huge contract in England… who knows, he may have his breakout season yet.
But was it smarter than choosing to stay at Barça and becoming a first team regular at 18?
I have been watching juvenile players for 8 years. Moriba was exceptional talent ngl. He was different than the others. Someone who also possesses quality with great physicality. Who used be everywhere of the pitch. Whatever happened between Barça and him, i always wanted him to be at Barca. I feel really bad tbh, he was someone from La Masia. Unlike Alena and cucurella, moriba is in real danger. It's like nobody wants what he has to offer. End of the day, i feel pretty bad
You should do one on Xavi Simmons.
Really? Why?
He's also a wasted potential

@@emmanuelenyinwa1443 Gavi has renewed till 2026. Try to follow football.
I'm 50/50 here, mostly because I have no bias since I'm not a Barca fan. I mostly agree that sometimes it's better to stay where you know you'll develop and learn more that in any other place, even if underpaid. On the other side, Moriba is not at fault on Barca's financial crisis, he wanted a reasonable raise since he was a prospect with great potential and had first team experience under his belt... if the club wasn't in a financial crisis, i'm sure his demands could've easily met, but I understand that if even Messi's wages couldn't be afforded even with a significant wage cut, Moriba's demands was doomed to not be met. But yeah, staying at Barca could've been good for his career, but we'll never know for sure: youngster Juan Miranda didn't got the chance at Barca, now he's developing a lot as Betis first choice left back; others like Aleña and Puig waited a lot for their chance: maybe they did got it but their level wasn't enough for Barca's standard. But being 100% honest, I would've hated Moriba if I supported the club who supported and trained him for years. In the end, Gavi rose through the ranks and is now one of the biggest prospects in the world, so everyone got what they wanted: Barca a hot prospect midfielder and Moriba his wage demands met. Cheers!!
I saw him played yesterday,he is good. He'll be there 😊
Can you do a preview and how can we beat bayern, I think we have a chance because they drew 3 matches in a row
We will win if we finish our chances , Bayern are a different team in UCL though , we need to start strong. We have been starting games with not so good concentration for the first 25 minutes.
Just wait till Tuesday
i thought the same would happen to xavi simons but he seems to have pulled him out of declining with that eindhoven move
Still at barca he wouldn't have stopped developing he just showing why he has played with some of the best players at psg just using his experience in psv he playing brilliant now tho
That's a great lesson for young players, and it's a lesson the likes of Pedri and Gavi learned. It might be just rumours but Bayern eyed them both, receiving a straight decline. I think after 0:2 UCL group stage match, Bayern will try even harder to fetch one of them
If they love they club they will stay. Despite what they get offer 💯

Barcelona should convert some of these many midfielders into strikers. Moriba has the build to be one. The lack of strikers (homegrown) is an issue. Lewan won't be here or as good in a year or 2.
Yeah, La Masia never really produces great strikers
He could become like pogba but 😔😔
It was glaringly the wrongest decision, so obvious that everyone knew.
It’s good he left, else Barca wouldn’t have taken Nico and Gavi serious

They didn't care about letting him go, bcz they already had Gavi n pedri
Good for him. Barca is a financial mess. Racists came out of the woodwork, accusing Dembele of being "greedy" for trying to negotiate a contract. What do these 2 have in common? Why no one said Alba was greedy when negotiated hard? Also he wouldn't have been a 1st team starter. There are well over 40 ex Barca players of recent times having careers in Europe.

Thank God Ilaix left of else Gavi wouldn't get his break. Now Gavi is warned not to make the same mistake as he still hasn't extended his contract. Other clubs are already eyeing him. But why is Barca still playing him then? Next year Gavi is a free agent. Barca is now promoting him so Gavi gets a higher market value and more options to leave the club.. Crazy
Apparently he finally signed the contract. I think the reason they play him is cos they had already agreed on the terms and waiting for the salary bill to reduce and then register their contracts with laliga. It's the same case as araujo
If Gavi wants to leave he can do so la masia is full of talented midfielders, the likes of Pau prim, Noah darvish, or even pocho are crying for the opportunity. But the way I see things he will not leave.

Doing it for the money never works out. But we wouldn’t have had gavi, nico. Bye 🤗😂
Honestly never liked this guy. Idk what the big hype about him was. Every single game he made a lot of poor passes and lost the ball more than any other players putting us in bad situations too often. Personally very happy we got rid of him.

True me too
What is, NINETEEN? Weren't you idiots saying the same thing about Ousmane Dembele just two years ago?
Lol all the people talking about greed, it is proof you've never made a single money decision in your lives... He potentially made the smartest move. Because, take Riqui Puig's example. He was more promising and beloved than Moriba but where is he now? Where are Collado, Rey Manaj, Nico... Not everybody makes it at Barça, rightly so. He cashed in on his jump in value while he still could, and I respect that rather than blind allegiance to a giant economic entity like Barça. Maybe he's more money smart than football smart.
Yeah maybe, but he would've gotten game time under Koeman
Bartomeu was given free notes to everyone 😂

We can thank Moriba for leaving his place cuz now we have Gavi
I might have an idea as to why he let his greed potentially ruin his career but I can't say the word so I'll give you some hints: "I'm loud and obnoxious, I like music that rhymes, I'm a fraction of the population but I commit half the crime"
He can go never will I need him never ungrateful
Ungrateful for what? What do you know?
Koeman gave him big chances, he should have just waited a little longer before making the money move.
Class on fm 22 cost a bomb tho
Always one sided, he could have stayed for less salary and get bench by new salary or loaned out. Ask Adama Traore, ferraran Torres and other players who taught they will be coming to barca to saviours. Do what is best for you I say. by the way he is still young if his transfer didn't work but it worked for Romero(Tot). Always bet on yourself.
It's good for us that he leaves . Bcz we got gavi and Nico ...
Spelling mistake, it's Moneybaa
Wow you can read 🎉
He should've went to borussia Dortmund instead of Leipzig. They give young players a chance to develop
Yeah, that would've been a better decision
HIS GREED
BS biased video. His decision was logical when you consider the likes of Pique and Fabregas that left and grew. He felt he had a better shot at being a first team player away from Barca, especially when a team was willing to pay that much for him. Them benching him is what is unexpected. Now he’s getting chances at Valencia and developing and earning good money yet you say ‘wasted potential’ 😂. Look at the way Barca treated De Jong. I say the kid made a great choice. Give it a few years and judge if his potential is ‘wasted’ or not.
Terminated contract bro
If Morriba stayed gavi will struggle to find playing time
Tbh deserved if you're that greedy ... Dembele dodged a bullet bruh
