Emma has so much more power now than last year. Strength training paying off. Hope her wrist holds up
She was hitting her best serves power wise to date consistently despite her wrist injury which is awesome. 112mph I’m pretty sure was her fastest to date before this and she mostly hits 110 and under but she hit so many above 110 here. A couple were 116, a few 113, and a bunch of 112 and 111’s. Hope we can see her healthy and fit to see the best of her this year.
power is not her game....serving can be really tight with placement spin n disguise...she has to make returning as a standout weapon to be consistent top tier.and that will determine her long term future...
@@wbsat25Aggressive play and big shot making is her game but depending on the player she can play more conservative and hang in longer rallies and hit the big shot when the chance comes, she can better execute all this in time to as her fitness improves over the years given hopefully she gets that chance.
Nice win for the fragile princess but I fear her wrist will not hold up for another round. BHM is a hard hitter and a grinder at the same time, very tough to beat especially on this slow surface.
I actually think her recent illness has left her feeling unfit and have made her want to shorten the points by hitting harder. It suits her game, certainly Linette was struggling with the pace and kept hitting the ball late.
The WTA needs Raducanu whether people like to admit it or not. You just have to look at how many people come to watch her matches compared to the other players on tour. She’s the only current player that has star quality like the Williams sisters/sharapova had. Hopefully she has a great year.
She's nowhere near the star power of Venus, Serena, or Sharapova. STOP IT.

Emma was hitting her biggest serves to date consistently in this match which is so good to see given her wrist problem. A load of serves between 111-116 mph.

When she gets on top of her fitness issues I see her just improving off the scale. She has a hunger to learn. Great result today Emma. Such a joy to watch her play.

Keep on dreaming. She has an astounding streak of 2. The best since 1,5 year ago. She will probably fake an injury in the next round when she starts losing. Shes a laughing stock.
Alexa yeah she might of had a lucky run at the US open and played the tennis of her life, but you can’t deny she’s a good tennis player and if you do your blind or stupid. She’ll improve year on year she hits the ball too well.
@@Joezi-yd7sb she has talent but lacks ambition and grit. Also, there are plenty other even more skilled youngsters on tour than her.

After her R1 win, everyone was predicting an easy win for Linette in this match. So good to see Emma come through and in straight sets. Should give her a tremendous amount of confidence. She's playing aggressively calculated tennis, going for more angles and hitting closer to the lines, whereas the past year, a lot of her tennis was down the middle with not much pace. Her serve might still leave her a bit vulnerable against the really heavy hitters, but she's defending it very well.
What's wrong with her serve? Even in this match her second serves were faster than Linette's first serves. Admittedly she only got 50% of her first serves in but that's not reflective of how good it can be: in the US open she got 77% of her first serves in and won 73% of her first rallies; excluding the final she only lost a service game 5 times!
I think the injured wrist is affecting her serve.
@@andilencube7217 Injury is part of Emms's problem but I believe it is her mental preparation and execution. Since her 2021 US Open run, the placement of her 2nd serves was poor. That led to not holding serves. Plus that Emma was not pulling the trigger when needed to. She did that so well in 2021 and the last 2 matches. To be honest, Emma is still not playing as well as she did in 2021. Hopefully, Emma will be able to keep this up and keep improving as the season progressed.

@@benthekeeshond545 It's her serve overall which has been a source of problems in the last 18 months, even if it has on occasion been outstanding. Look at those statistics from the US Open - 77% first serves in and 73% first serves won are both very high figures, even more so considering it was only her second slam and against much higher ranked opponents. But her second serve wins was at 57%; yesterday her first serves in ended up at only 51.6% in, but she won 87.5% of those; her second serve was at 46.7%, which is substantially behind the USO stat but not as far as the first serve stat was.

Emma really has a good game. Her undoing was her early success winning the US open that put mental pressure on her. If she can win a a top tournament again it’d truly show her mental resolve.
Actually her undoing was her fragile body that had a hard time dealing with the grueling schedule of the tour, playing week in week out against hard hitting players. She was plagued with injuries and lack of stamina last year. But she's put in a lot of work physically late last year so hopefully this year we'll see better results. Just hope that wrist injury doesn't linger.
Emma's forehand improved a lot, the power, and angle... Magda plays very smart. Great match to watch.
I did not expect Emma to win this but I'm so happy she did. I hope to see her against Iga in R4.
Haddad Maia most likely will beat her. Raducanu can't handle power players.

@@sadie513 you're correct in that she certainly was known as a grinder but her significant rise up the rankings was due in good part due to adopting a more aggressive style. She has a good forehand.

@@Kyle27ish The round isn't important. What's important is that she beat the 20th player in the world in straight sets, bossing Linette around in the 2nd set. Linette just made a slam semi final. This is huge for Emma. Stop hating on her, it's tiresome.

Emma's hard-hitting dictated most of the play. Too many unforced errors at the start (not surprising when she has had so little matchplay) but when she got going she was excellent. So pleased for her.
Very impressive win by Emma this time round, unlike the previous match against Danka. She took the fight to Magda and really dominated rallies with her hard hitting groundstrokes. Showed great potential here but the wrist issue is a concern.

Emma came back from 4-1 deficit in the first set and didn’t give up. That’s what she needed. I don’t care if she loses her next match because of injuries or whatever. Just that she pulled through and kept fighting.

Linette is not in the Top 20. Just outside it. Linette was the favorite to win this even if her form has not been good since the AO

You can't expect Emma to pull a rabbit out a hat against Aryna, Iga, or Barbora in a tie break. She can go deep in tournaments if the draw is on her side. Respect for the win either way!

Without looking at the scoreboard and the last shot, I would definitely thought that Linette was winning big time.
Emma is the glamour girl of tennis. Stadium was packed out half hour before the match even started. She's the one they all came to see.
Yet she was not on centre court. The crowd was full packed because it's a ground pass court, not stadium with more expensive price. Coco gauff is the glamour girl of tennis in america.
I also noticed, the simultaneous match between Azarenka and Muchova (on a bigger court) attracted a much lesser crowd. You are correct, EMMA is the drawcard that people want to watch and tournament organisers know this hence the wildcard !!

its so terrible to have that many injuries so young :( shes hardly even 20 and shes already faced a lifetime of injuries
@@kevinpatrickcarey3741Mostly little niggles the past 18 months which she’s recovered from a few days later so that looks like growing pains for her. She was basically a junior from June 2021 jumping into playing top 100 players consistently so that’s a big jump physically and the work she has to put in.
Don't disrespect Andrescu, at least she beat top of the game at that time and Raducanu beat nobody

Emma faced a very good player; She regains her confidence. But why does she attack the net by relaunching the opponent instead of making a decisive blow? The net, you have to stay there for as short a time as possible because you are very vulnerable to it... So a little blow on the opposite side doesn't hurt! Finally, me what I say about it... I would like so much that it takes the lead and "explodes" the best! Come on Emma!!🤩🤩🤩

It's great she won the tie-break, but I'd like to see her place the ball away from her opponent whenever the court opens up. Hitting a slow ball toward your opponent is asking for trouble.
