  • My current favourite Djokovic and my tennis idol Pete...enjoyed the humble conversation these 2 had...nice anchoring by Tim..I remember the days when Pete was winning everything I literally wanted someone to beat him😀 what so admirable about Pete is that his dead calmness, complete concentration, his stamina and power, he was well ahead of his time kinda of player that too without much technology, advancement in nutrition at that time ....shocking he had to retire at age of 32 else he would have won 3 or 4 GS more. To say otherwise , if same Prime Pete plays now with so much advancement in sports he would have all the capability to dethrone Top 3 with his thunderbolt/accurate serve, Volley, lightening forehand, bullet backhand and his rock solid stamina . I can talk about Pete hours and hours that’s how much I dissected his game and now I love doing it for Novak. 2 amazing players who makes tennis interesting.

    • @@olaraay slams don't show the truth. He was super dominant if you watched those years. People don't follow the sport I think. Players didn't choose all slams to go to those days they had chosen ones. The game has changed. Many things have changed. This is why taking numbers to judge big 3 is bs. Sampras in many aspects of the game and overall could be the goat still. I know people who follow the sport and tell me no one has been as dominant since. Sampras got super bored after 6 years at 29 and stopped training at 29. Then after 1.5 years of no training and a back injury that he really didn't see point at that point to play the sport and do all the added stuff to go back to form but also becasue he felt that since child it was all tennis, he got the old coach back for a month in 2002 for that us open and then changed stuff and did other stuff.

Both have/had the best single shot in the game at their times - Pete w/the serve, Novak with the return - and both were not crowd favorites and had to fight through that, though Pete didn't seem to really care that much if the crowd liked him or not which I think helped him immensely with stress. Novak sometimes invites undue stress on himself because he wants the crowd's acceptance.

  • Beyond a doubt, Novak is mentally the toughest sportsman ever! Playing and WNNING against the crowds most of his biggest matches, particularly when fighting for trophies - requires a mental giant. Novak’s ability to turn adversary into his advantage is unheard of. “When they chant Roger, Roger, I hear Novak, Novak” is probably the biggest statement in sports! He takes crowds animosity as the source of his energy and use it directly against his opponent!! My goodness!
