    • tbh there is no such thing as -good or bad.- (I have said this so many times but) The only reason we have these phrases is to live in *sane* so we can have all have something relatable. Just like how some people think some things are bad from there POV but others think that it is good from their POV. The phrases we use are just to put an image in our head and without that we would probably go insane and never understand one another.

I know it's supposed to be interpreted like " Oh you think you're a hero when you're actually a villain !! " But i swear , i interpretted that different and it gave me a whole new moral. • "The person you hate the most is someone's beloved child," is such a brilliant line. When you hate a person, you find something about them, maybe even everything about them, to be unacceptable to you. But most likely everyone you end up not being able to stand will have people in their lives who adore and cherish them. Even the most evil people in history have had people who loved them, who chose to see good in them and the things they did. It's all about perception, the exact lesson this song is trying to teach. It's almost never black and white, good and bad. We're all capable of being the hero of our own stories and the villain in someone else's, even through something as simple as petty jealousy. It's a hard thing to come to terms with, but it's often a universal truth.

  • Sorry if this is one of those “water is wet” type comments but I haven't really seen anyone mention this yet. The word “villain” is misspelled during the first chorus and someone comes along and fixes it, and in the cooking scenes, there are blurred pieces of food around the “perfect dish”. In both scenes, the flaws and imperfections are hidden, changed or blurred. This is because we believe that we are on the good side, we will never be the bad guy in our own eyes and we don't want to see what we've done wrong. So how do we cope with any of our wrongdoings or flaws? We hide them, we pretend they aren't there. Sorry this comment is so confusing I'm stupid but I haven't seen anyone mention this yet. Someone else can probably explain it better.

BUT at the same time we can't actually do much about our "inherent" ambivalence towards others. Meaning something someone sees in us as good can be bad for / towards someone else's perception. Note: Inherent as assigned value by other people. So there are always two sides at play - a self perception and an outside perception...

  • [Sorry for the rant, and if I sound pretentious, I just really like this video :D] I really like the ending, with the tainted or dangerous foods. It reinforces the point of the song [in my opinion]; how depending on your angle [your perspective], things can appear as good or evil. How one person's perception of something may not be universal, and your first glance may not be the truth. I also really liked the black and white outfits, which seem to reinforce my guess that the song is partially about first glances. She wears white in the beginning while reading a cookbook, something we see as a harmless and almost meaningless act. "Think twice before you like me," she says, still dressed in white. Then in the end her intentions become clear, to make poisonous foods that look innocent. And she is still wearing white as she does it. And during the parts while she sings about what a wicked devil she is, she wears black, and yet she hasn't actively done anything evil, other than cheer for someone's demise on TV. And a halo of white sometimes surrounds her while she wears white. We shouldn't use first glances to dictate the truth of what's around us. And just like how she is more than black or white, we could be too, to different people. The perception of the people around us as well as ourselves isn't a one size fits all. An example from the song: "The person that you hate the most could be somebody's beloved child". Just like how people in the comments think differently of the person in the video [some are considering the song and thinking about it, some are patting themselves on the back for being just so clever because they relate or something, and some are just simping for her] people could think differently of us, too. For example, what if the beloved child line was referring to you? Someone could hate you, REALLY hate you, but your mother sees you different, as just her beloved child. You may not notice what you have done for them to hate you, and maybe you see yourself in a positive light, but that doesn't change the fact that you are villain in their eyes. People see different things differently.

  • If others haven't analyzed the lyrics I'm here to help! The song is mostly about the two faced-ness of others and how we don't truly know how many sides there is to someone we consider "close". Certain lyrics in this song correlate with this idea. There was a lyric about how someone we hate can be a mother's beloved daughter. It pretty much means that a person we deem horrible or are angry with could be a good person to another and in the eyes of others. People are very fake and can surprise you very well so Stella is really trying to tell you to be cautious of even herself when she says to think about liking her. There are way more than just a black and white side of a person and this song reminds you of the forever importance of knowing this simple fact. Take a second to evaluate your actions and consider if you're a villain too.

    @jessicamoore7730@jessicamoore77304 жыл бұрын
    • I agree with parts of your analyzed , but I don't think it's about people being "fake" and I don't think "People are very fake and can surprise you very well so Stella is really trying to tell you to be cautious of even herself when she says to think about liking her" is the point she is trying to make. We all have different sides, often see the world in very different ways and what one person see as "fake" can be "speaking the truth" to somebody else. The point to me is that it is impotent to remember that you don't know everything and sometimes what I see as "People being very fake", can be about me not knowing that person or simple not understanding/agreeing with their point of view. The question of when somebody is "being fake" is like most thing in life very subjective and the way we see/understand things can even change over time, depended of your own mood, the person saying it and more. Anyway the message to me is more positive and more about the need to remember that most of the people you don't like/disagree with are people too, that often also have good quality's that you just don't see and your are properly "The Villain" to them, so try to be respectful even to people you don't like. "No one is perfect, we all have flaws. But if you are lucky enough to find someone who loves you the same at your worst. recognize it and appreciate it". Ps. I make edit's to correct spelling mistakes :-)

  • Just wanted to thank you for this song, cos it's been an absolute lifeline the last couple of days (not that i think Stella is likely to see this comment). I've listened to this song so many times, and it gives me strength in a strange way. I broke up with this guy, and we'd only been dating for a few months, but he did not take it well. Went back to drinking, talked about how everything was miserable and pointless, making threats he was afraid he'd do something to himself. Meanwhile i was just trying to move on, and feeling guilty for what i "did to him". He really made me feel like the sorry state he was in was all my fault. Then yesterday, after a month of this, my friend finally convinced me that his drunken rants about how i broke his poor baby heart weren't something i needed to put up with any more, so i finally blocked him. I felt like such a villain, but also amazing cos i was finally done with his shit. Then i stumbled across this song, and it really resonated with something in me, and helped me remember that all of these questions about if this makes me a bad person are daft. What matters is how much better i feel, and he has his own responsibility in this mess, he's a grown-ass adult and needs to act like one. Anyway, he's apparently since made some veiled comments that he hates me and wants to kill me. Pretty villainous, right? Shit's crazy, and my conscience is definitely cleared now. Maybe i still am a bit of a villain for hurting him, but i could not care less at this point, and your song played a part in that, so thank you.

We are devils that fail to notice our evilness, you cant see yourself as the villain when you think your the hero. Not everything is easy as good and bad, black and white. Good is very fragile, deep inside there is a villian that we wish to hide. I also think that is it about love too

The whole meaning of kpop is just the way the production and behind the scenes are made like top tier visuals, years of training to finally get the chance to debut in the industry harsh industry. Feel free to check out more kpop there really isn't a reason you shouldn't, and if your reason is the community then you do you bub but we all aren't obsessed and toxic as you think. Sure we have some bad people but it is what it is coming from a community that reaches all countries and fanbases through music, visuals, performing, fanservice, and harsh training.

    • Exactly. I think it's fandoms that ruin it a bit for a lot of people. Every genre has amazing music. And i don't listen to k pop, but I'll agree a lot of its music is amazing. In the end, it all runs down to, you wanna listen to music? Listen to it. Appreciate the creator, not the fandom. If the fandom is bitchy, does it make the song bad? No. Listen to music you like. It's completely your own preferences.
