  • I'm definitely old school, like Simon and Garfunkel old school, but this redo changed my mind on covers of old school songs, they NAILED it

    • I was skeptical myself the first time I heard it because, I mean, it's Disturbed, but they NAILED it

  • I was a teenager when S&G did thr original and the song is iconic but I thought it needed more intensity. David nailed it. I think I cried the first 60 times I listened to it.

  • I grew up with S&G’s version. But boy oh boy Disturbed’s rendition gives me chills every time I hear it.

  • The fact that he pulled this off while sick , though! He had a cold and a fever (if I remember correctly) and nearly didn't perform. In the end he decided to do it sitting, to save energy I assume, and it turned into one of the best live performances ever. I grew up with the original and was very skeptical of any cover. I heard a few and didn't care for any of them. THIS one because my favorite on the first listen, though (apologies to Simon & Garfunkel). Apparently even Paul Simon thought this was the best cover he'd ever heard and actually promoted it on his own social media, which says something, IMO. Just crazy good.

  • Whomever produced this with the orchestra, lighting, and the entire feel should get an award. This has to be a once in a lifetime achievement.

  • Loved your reactions. I was a teenager when this first came out and I thought it had to be stronger. My son introduced this version to me and I can't stop listening to it.

  • This song has always been of Biblical Proportions, Paul Simon's original was trying to wake us up and too many kept sleeping, Disturbed's version, is to shake those that were oblivious to where we are going. I pray this will stir many more to what is so important. Ear to hear, eyes to see and Heart to understand!

  • Hi, i stopped by when i saw you were doing Disturbeds Sound Of Silence, I'm addicted to hearing all reactions to this. I'm not a metal fan but i love hearing David singing gentler songs, Hold on to Memories and Reason to Fight and of course this one. My favourite group are Home Free, have you heard of them?

  • I was going to quit for the night when this video caught my eye. I saw in the thumbnail that it was the "live on Conan" version, so I had to watch. The official video for this is good, but this live performance is SO much better! (Sorry, David Draiman and Disturbed.) Thanks for this reaction.

  • I, absolutely, can't stand the studio version of this. For me, it sounded too gimmicky and forced. I happened upon another reaction to this version and was blown away. I've never heard him live. The emotion he poured into this is mind-boggling. It has become one of my favorite songs ever. (Studio one still sucks.)
