  • Thanks for watching guys! I hope you’re as excited as I am about having a real SVD on the channel! What are some other unicorn guns you’d like to see us play with? No promises, but we might be able to make it happen… Thanks to Kore Essentials for making this video possible! You can find them here: rebrand.ly/AKGuyBattleBelt

  • I was a marksman in my conscript time in Slovakia with standard SVDN-1. Couple of experiences: 1. recoil hurts, you better press it to the shoulder 2 sniper bullets were expensive so we used Warsaw treaty machine gun bullets 7,62x54, ok for up to 400m - could pierce scaffolding iron pipe on that distance 3.Original optic was good and one could use iron sights without removing the optics 4 it had bayonett so the use was more marksman than sniper 5 trigger group spring could get bent when one pulled the bolt back while on safety - IMO design flaw - happened to me. 6 And yes I was the coolest looking guy on every picture :-)

  • I think an SVT-40 video would be great. I happen to have one that I purchased in 1994 at a gun show for $300. I know a lot of people out there don't even know this rifle exists and a lot only have seen it in video games. When I bought mine there were several on the table. I chose the one with a different muzzle break. Many years later I did some research on it and found that it was originally an AVT-40 select fire. The AVT's were built to ease a machine gun shortage but they couldn't take the sustained automatic fire, so when they broke they were rebuilt and put into SVT-40 configuration. I read that only 3500 were imported, so that makes them pretty rare.

AK mags can be modified to work in them, but the bolt will no longer stay open after the last round. Oddly enough, here in Canada AK's have been prohibited for decades, but we can get some other cool stuff, at least for now.

Not to mention apparently you have no idea that military uses either SVDS(collapsible stock) or SVU(bullpup version) since the same time when purpose build DMRs became a thing in NATO(hello there, SR-25). However apparently someone believes that mounting scope onto M14 made it a DMR when M21 was half assed into existence:D P.S.: and that is primarily because US didn't realize that snipers are "kind of needed" even in modern war until the late half of Vietnam War. Meanwhile soviets had thousands of renowned snipers during WWII and just decided that continuing to use what worked was a good idea. _Surprising, right?!_

  • I admired this work of art while serving in the army. to my great regret, my eyesight did not allow me to become a sniper and I ran with an AK-74 Kalashnikov assault rifle. The external similarity of the SVD and AK is explained by the Soviet Arms School, where all the designers studied and naturally borrowed the best ideas from each other.

When I was a kid I thought SVD was pretty big, but later I understood that it's actually quite slick, there are a lot of bulkier sniper rifles.

    • I like the new 9,3mm SV-s! If they can use hunting ammo that means a lot!!! But once you fire Ex-Yu, Serbian made M76 PASP (Semi-Auto Sniper Rifle or Po-russki: poluavtomaticheskaya snayperskaya vintovka) in much more SLICK and SIGNIFICANTLY shorter rifle and has a rail that is much easier to find mounts for! Both here in EU and in US! Its twist and caliber makes it wind-resistant, better energy-carrying and intuitively falling chambering in 8mm Mauser/7,92mm IS and not so finicky in the bullet choice as SVD! I mean,it can fire API,Tracer,Ball and even the awful MG ball (or goat-crapammo as we call it!) not to mention most semi-decent Hunting Ammo and Sub-Sonic! SVD is...JUST BEAUTIFUL!!! I LOVED IT! And had more than I need! LOL But finding the right ammo for it was...nightmare! It is like shopping for shoes for some princess! I bought in bulk tin of Russian Sniper-AP ammo and it was..a nightmare! One could not fire it at all w/o stoppage, another one could had a 3 LtBOA accuracy at 100m (3 LtBOA= 3 Loosely thrown Buckets Accuracy at 100m), and the third one performed...WELL!!! And all 3 were Russian-made beauties with very close serial numbers! The same goes for hunting bullets! But once you find the right one... the only solution is hand reloading using those bullets or copy of the same by the Lapua! But again...Bulgarian copy that has SVD furniture but M76 action and ammo is LIKE...THE WORST THING AMONG EX-COMM-BLOCK "SNIPER" RIFLES YOU CAN PUT YOUR HANDS ON! DDR AK-74 with railing is MUCH MUCH better DMR/Infantry Support Sniper than that c++p! RIGHT?! Greetings from Croatia! ;-D
