  • AWW, the mother hen sees that mother cat as her baby and that mother cat's kittens as her grandchildren :-) The mother hen's daughter must see those kittens as her nieces and nephews :-)

    • @Sound of Jesus Well, call it a blended family. Mom told me of a mother dog raising a baby pig. When that pig grew up, she had her own babies and the mother dog would protect her and her babies.

    • Yet we also tend to do amazing and lovely things too. Human life is not entirely darkness and misery. The rest of the animal kingdom tends to have a dark side too. Ok, so, we have vets, vet nurses, carers, doctors, nurses, people who foster and adopt human babies and our fellow animal babies, we have kindness and charity, many of us do our best to counter evil humans in this world. You can’t just forget those. On the darker side, for example, many cats kill birds and small mammals, chickens, believe it or not are omnivores and have been known to eat mice and insects, mine used to attacj each other when they’d be hurt or fail at something.

  • Child raising is laborious work for any kind of animal. I feel so happy for the mother cat that it has such kind chickens to help care for her kittens(not to mention being mothered herself!).

But there are some wild animals who take care of other animals too. Lioness literally separates herself from lion after giving birth beause lions eat their own babies
