Such is the freedom....to be exploited by the govt, the system, the politicians.

  • The best childcare is provided by the parents (in most cases). In Finland the mother and child are not separated until the child is seven. This is one of the reasons why their children are doing really well, and their education is currently the best globally.

When other countries invest in apprenticeships for working classes, benefits for growing families to grow healthy communities, UK just brings more skilled and unskilled workers from other countries as it is cheaper and serves corporate interests. • In Sweden there are different types of childcare for children aged 1-5. When you are working, studying, looking for work, or you are at home with the child’s younger siblings, you are entitled to childcare. If you are unemployed or on parental leave, your child is entitled to a place for at least three hours a day or 15 hours a week. Some municipalities offer more than this. In Sweden, there is a maximum charge (‘maxtaxa’), a ceiling to how much parents have to pay for childcare in a daycare institution.Child number one in a family costs 1382 SEK a month or a maximum of 3 % of the guardians' gross income. Child number two costs 922 SEK or a maximum of 2 % of the gross income. Child number three costs 451 SEK or a maximum of 1 % of the gross income. Child number four is free of charge.

When we grew up our parents tightened their belts and did without a lot of things during those childrearing years and we all had a mother. What am I missing? I hear them saying that they need two incomes, but then complaining about how childcare costs more than they earn so that makes no sense. It also seems to be standard to eat takeaway food and have lots of gadgets to entertain the children because the parents have been at work all day.

This is the reason why in Asian countries such as South Korea and Japan, the population is shrinking with more burden on the working population to support the growing elderly population. The government would need to support ordinary families to encourage having children not detering them.

The freedom to move makes a huge difference as your children grow, especially when looking for a good school.
