  • Her first four albums are absolute fire 🔥 unfortunately the only two hits I don’t like from Red that I find overrated are We Are Never Getting Back Together and 22. But other than that 98% of her music from 2004-2010 music sounded so beautiful and real! 2011-2013 was good too. But 2014 her sound completely changed and I mean there’s a couple of songs I like from 1989 and Lover. But in all honesty they are not my cup of tea. I do however enjoyed Reputation, and her folks albums quite a bit. It was a nice change from the girly upbeat poppy sound which was in her 5th and 7th album.

  • So I made up a challenge and failed it. The challenge was to come up with my 13 favorite Tay Tay songs. I couldn’t narrow it down to 13, but I did work it down to 17. Here’s my list. This is in no particular order, except that my top 3 are for sure Our Song, All Too Well, and Hey Stephen. Also I realize this is sort of a cheat, but honorable mentions to Should’ve Said No and Glitch. Our Song All Too Well Hey Stephen Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince Mean Call It What You Want Death By A Thousand Cuts Question…? The Best Day Sparks Fly Cowboy Like Me Getaway Car You Belong With Me Champagne Problems Cornelia Street Breathe Willow What do your lists look like? I was disillusioned by her as a person after the Ginny and Georgia incident and the whole white supremacy thing, and for a long time it was hard for me to even listen to her music. But I’m back listening. It is sooooo good. I’m still wary of her, though. But damn, girl can sure write a song. I guess this is a situation where I need to learn to separate the art from the artist.

    @mdrowe726@mdrowe726 Жыл бұрын
    • There's no need to separate the art from the artist. She was completely in the right in the Ginny & Georgia situation, and what white supremacy? She's been vocal against racism for a few years now.

      @idk-bh8ys@idk-bh8ys Жыл бұрын
    • @@idk-bh8ys There was a specific incident in 2017 or whenever that was. But first, yes, she has spoken in recent years against white supremacy. The bottom line though is that a person doesn’t refuse to denounce white supremacy for years only to become very passionate and outspoken about social causes at the exact moment cancel culture is coming for her. She only spoke out after being pelted with heavy criticism over her silence for years. What I’m talking about is that whole thing where The Daily Stormer (a right-wing publication) published claims that she was aligned with their beliefs, specifically white supremacy. There was a whole corner of the internet insisting that she was their Aryan Goddess. Then a blogger was rightly disillusioned by her failure to speak about it (despite the fact that it was fairly well-known and even published in The Daily Stormer) and rather than denounce white supremacy or threaten the white supremacist publication with a cease-and-desist, she and her team of lawyers sent a cease-and-desist to the little-known blogger for making reasonable speculations about her silence and calling on her to denounce the white supremacists. The letter from her lawyers also insisted that the information be kept private, and the ACLU stepped up to admonish her team because of their unlawful attempts to use her power/scare tactics against someone’s first amendment protected speech. That’s so shady. Seriously, who does that? Where was that energy for the literal white supremacists? Why was she threatening the person calling on her to denounce them? I’m not saying she is a white supremacist (even though she has been racially insensitive a number of times without any evidence of learning from it), but I am saying that getting money from her white supremacist fans was more important to her than denouncing the hate group. Which to me and many others is a problem. The Ginny and Georgia situation was wrong. It was an abuse of her power and also it is exploitative to use feminism in a way that advances oneself while failing to show up for others. The racist bullying Antonia was subjected to was the direct result of a tweet Taylor made in the supposed name of feminism. I agree that there is nothing wrong with starting the conversation, but there is no excuse for checking out of the conversation as racist hate was hurled at the woman who delivered the line. The story was featured in the news and she said nothing to call fans off. While I support the initial act of standing up for herself, I think there were other less performative ways she could have addressed the issue. Taylor knows bullying exists in her fandom (there is no way she doesn’t) and she knows that racism in this country is rampant. Acting as she did was an irresponsible use of her platform and a flagrant display of celebrity privilege. Racist hate is way worse than some throwaway line about Taylor’s dating history. I will never say someone is wrong for standing up for themself, but I will always challenge someone who makes such a move in the name of supposed equality only to fail to speak out about the prevalent bullying that happens as a result of her tweet. You can only speak for yourself when you say that separating the artist from the art is not necessary. For me, separating the art from the artist is essential. I took a six year break from Taylor despite being a fan since 2006 because it was hard for me at first. I have seen Miss Americana but found it to be very cringe apart from the scenes of her in the studio. I feel like we should stop pretending Taylor’s not racist. An anti-racist person does not turn a blind eye to racism.

    • I agree. I liked her sound when she was country pop. She has a nice voice when she sticked to that genre for her first three albums from 2004-2011. But then she got rid of her pop country genre and went pop then it was meh. But once she went Electronic pop I was so done and to me sounded very annoying her voice. I liked her first three albums and I’m not a fan. I just liked how nice her voice sounded with her country pop genre. She needs to go back to that or better yet that Folk genre of her 8th album was really good. I heard her 8th album and it sounded surprisingly really good album. The folk genre was really a good decision for her voice. Then she went back to electronic pop again. 🤦‍♂️
