  • Unless the IS-2 was hitting the mantlet of the hetzer, it should’ve shredded through it

    • Agreed, one hit by the 122 mm and the Hetzer would be toast. Apprarently this simulation doesn't do overmatching. The Hetzer's effective sloped armor would only be like 90 mm against a 122 mm round, and indeed Eugini Bessanov's account of the street fighting in. Berlin recounts a IS-2 shooting at two German assault guns (likely Hetzers and/or Stugs) and penetrating and KO'ing both with a single shot. Here the Hetzer bounces like 5 rounds which would realistically be astronomically low probability occurrence.

    • Dude, it’s a game. It’s not supposed to be like a “realistic ww2 simulator” it’s a time killing game of gore and blood.

    • @@NotRyon these games advertise themselves for their 'realism' and make a lot of effort to include statistics on the actual tanks that either existed or could have existed. Ergo, the matchups should reflect reality. If they didn't claim to be 'realistic' in some sense or used generic 'tanks' like an old arcade game then there'd be no quibble.

    • @@NotRyon exactly what I said. These games are not 'fun' arcade games to kill time, a 'donkey Kong' with tanks, at least their pedigree isn't. If you wanted a generic arcade game you could make and market one with a lot less time, cost, and effort, and indeed people have. These games are claimed to be based on some 'realism', even though that's really kind of hard to simulate (if you really died or were maimed if your tank was KO'ed I guaranteed players would play differently). But the rationale of historical simulation games is to simulate history. Else you'd play Risk.

Yet this "simulation" has the Hertzer bouncing 5 direct hits, when its effective armor is only like 90 mm against that caliber round?
