Six cases of the new Brazilian variant of coronavirus have been detected in the UK for the first time, three in England and three in Scotland. All but one of the cases are linked to travel from Brazil.
Public Health England said the risk to the wider community is considered low, but it has increased testing in the South Gloucestershire area, where two of the cases were found.
There are concerns that the Brazilian variant may be more contagious than the original virus and less likely to be contained by the existing vaccines.

We were already aware of other variants and the possibility of them coming here. Also, existing vaccines are still somewhat effective against the Brazil variant so it's unlikely to be a huge issue.

I can't tell if this is a joke or not 😭 but as a Brazilian I can assure you we have been doing much worse. very few people wear masks or even stay at their homes. in my city, many of my neighbours party all day, inviting as much people as they can.

According to AstraZeneca's website, AZD1222 was first trialled in the UK, Brazil and South Africa, the same places the first variants appeared. I'm not sure what to make of that.

There is a ban, but the virus can take weeks to show any signs and British airports had not tested or quarantined any travellers arriving at our airports since end February last year! We only started quarantining people who arrived at the beginning of this February!!! We can’t only blame the travellers, because our government didn’t test and quarantine arrivals early enough!

(Not holidays) The are back having festivals, concerts, shops and restaurants open and under 30 deaths!
