  • The most unrealistic thing about this series is the sheer number of people who square off against this human mountain and think "yeah, I can take him hand to hand."

    • It's actually very realistic, little guys pick fights with big guys all the time purely due to their Napoleon complex. A guy near me died because some little runt wanted to act hard in front of his friends and said "watch this" then went up to a big guy who had his back turned and punched him causing him to fall forwards, hit his head, and die.

He just turned and looked at the guy and couldn’t believe it. Then the guy ran off immediately and got in his truck after my uncle just looked at him like a disappointed dad and said seriously dude 😂

    • No upside to doing so. I remember shortly after a pretty intense street fight in college hearing some football players talking about me at a party and a couple of them were known for starting trouble and one guy started talking me up and the other said "he doesn't look like much" and his buddy responded "that's what I thought but trust me, I've seen him fight". Then they both came up and were real respectful. The truth is either one of them probably could have destroyed me but hell if they wanted to think otherwise I was fine with it lol

    • It most definitely is, and I've witnessed it since the 70's. Watching the news at noon, having my lunch and the news shows real airport camera footage from an airport terminal. Authorities are escorting a man through the terminal who just got a delay in his trial sentencing for raping a young girl. He's guilty they just haven't sentenced him yet. An inconspicuous lone man they walk past gets up from his seat in the lobby, silently and smoothly gets behind the two cops and pulls out a handgun, blowing a hole in the back of the criminal's head. He was the father of the raped girl and knew this guy was going to get a light sentence. No warning before showing that on lunch time television. But Lord help us if someone mentions "titty" let alone shows a peak of booby; or swears in a night time drama series. The land of Puritan ethics.@@jujuonthatqueef5043

The receptionist took no time to imagine the little fella doing that 😂😂 The 2nd film I think they let Tom have too much input. All the running. The run through the park after the prison break was directly contrary to the book, a running man draws the eye.

    • The problem is they're still being gangsta even after he shows up, because the characters are reading from a script where the writer didn't actually picture the scene. It's the one problem I have with the show - people being tough and mouthing off to THAT guy without a gun in their hand. I used to know a guy who had played pro football. Looked like a comic book figure. We were talking about guys getting up in his grill in a bar. The problem with being like him was that there *were* people who got tough with him, but it was always gonna be because they had a gun in their pockets. Nobody half his size was going to look at him and try to bully him, even if they had a couple of buddies. Of course, that's only real life ;)

  • I witnessed such an event when in college. Never seen anything like it in my life. One of our friends was a Vietnam vet and had returned to college to finish his degree. He literally was a "Jack Reacher" but a simple guy of few words. 6'3 230 he could deadlift 550. Anyway somebody at the bar disrespected him saying something about "grunts". I watched him approach the guy and ask for an apology. None offered and the idiot dug deeper . . so my friend slapped him, pushed him against the wall and from around his neck . . Lifted him off the ground with one hand while he was against the wall then threw him down. The place was in total shock.

    • OTOH, this sets up one of the stupidest things in the book. The next group of thugs are sent to kill "the guy with the glasses." That only works in print when the author and reader aren't picturing their characters. You wouldn't have said "get the guy with the glasses." You'd have said "get the little guy." A lot of things in the book only make sense if you've forgotten how big he is. People mess with him like it's average. He gets lost in crowds like he's average. Oh well. But they're cool scenes for sure.

  • I was a supply sergeant at a MP unit in Presidio of San Francisco in the old days..we have one MP in our unit that's about 6'6 260 (I know, I measured him for his outfit)..he's always telling jokes and getting high with the rest of us, love Cheech and Chong..but when he gets serious, he is just like Reacher. We all know our places when he does, freaking W. Cannon..hope you're doing well wherever you are//
