  • One Sunday when in church many children/babies where crying and running around and priest observed some people being bothered by it and he said "When you no longer hear those noises in the church it will be the end of the church because the noise of children in the future of the church; they are our future". Never be ashamed to bring your child to church, built the habit from young. Thanks for sharing!!

  • We go to a very old-timey Baptist church. Just the main church part, a foyer and two bathrooms. We have two babies and several toddlers in the congregation right now. Everyone says the same thing, we would all rather hear the babies in church. That's life and hope for a church. Take them out if they are screaming and keep going to church. It can be stressful in the beginning and feel wearisome at times but they learn so fast as they get older how to sit still and be quiet. Quiet and still for an hour or so is totally doable from about 2-3 years old and a valuable skill for kids to have.

    • THIS!!! Yes!!! Also I trained my kids at home. Practice runs at home & make it fun but also familiar. My oldest just turned 3 & youngest is 14 months & I don’t even pack much anymore. We fell into a groove & we all know what to expect. I have a difficult time focusing BUT training them made it possible again (training does NOT mean discipline- training is proactive & discipline reactive)

  • I watched this just for the sleep training. I have a 5 month old, 5th child. I’m so tired from not sleeping! I keep thinking: if only I can sleep train now! And I did try a couple of months ago, and it worked, but then she started rolling over, and now we’re back to square 1. It does work better closer to a year since they’re pretty self-sufficient in their movement by then. But I’m just so tired, I can’t wait

  • You say how you’re wondering why to answer these questions you’ve already talked about a million times. Well that’s actually what I like about your channel(s). It’s the consistency and your honest answers to the same questions BUT in different seasons of your life which makes it so that there are little snippets here and there throughout these different seasons that make it all fall into place. It helps me a ton to relax a lot more about things that I would usually stress about or question myself about. I think all this to say that I like the way you’re pretty much the only KZheadr I know who talks through the different seasons of one subject. If that makes sense? 😅

  • Thank you for being honest and encouraging her to just have the baby! You'll never regret the babies you have. Anything else can be figured out. Her business might even improve! Sounds like she's trying to do everything at once and that might be pushing it. She needs to remember that there is a season for everything and, if you squeeze everything into one season, something will fail. It's better to calm down, do the baby thing during your baby years, and know that you can make money anytime.

There are so many family owned farms near me that I can buy what I can’t produce/grow at home. Eggs are the easiest and I grow some fresh produce, but I love supporting local farmers. My husband jokes that the barn is his future work shop once the chickens learn they’re supposed to live in the coup. 😂

  • Just another perspective for others also looking in the comments for suggestions :) i am a 29 year old mom of 4 under 7, i take my newborns with me in my wrap into church with us until they’re so big that they’re starting to become more interested in the world, not sleeping so much, wanting to nurse as much, etc. then they start going to nursery, the big kids go into their classes & my husband and i go into the main church service. It’s one of my favorite time of the week. My husband and i get our time together with the lord, my kids get taught on a level they understand & they look forward to church & seeing their friends. I have a hard time focusing with the kids in there, i want to keep making sure they’re good & not fussing & i feel like it turns into a very stressful time & i don’t even hardly take in any of the teaching! It’s worked out so well so far! just another perspective if your personality may be more like mine! It’s also been such a blessing to have so many wonderful people pouring into & loving our kids! ❤

    • I basically got nothing out of church til my son was old enough to be in nursery. When he was with me I wouldn't process a single word of the sermon, it had been such a blessing to actually get something out of church again. As he approached 1 I would leave him in nursery for 30/45 min then go pick him up mid service, til he could handle the full time :)

    • Interesting perspectives here. Thank you for sharing. My church has a nursery for children ages 18 mo to 3 years for the second hour of classes (the year they’re 4 they get to start children’s Sunday school). We have sacrament meeting the first hour for the entire congregation. The mothers’ lounge has a speaker so we can still hear service if we have fussy or nursing babies. Sometimes there’s a couple classrooms with speakers too, so dads who leave with kids can listen as well. 😁 It’s a pretty sweet setup. It would be odd not to hear the little voices whispering too loud or singing with abandon the songs they know too.

And most of our families have up to eight children. As a grandmother now it is hard to hear if the parents do not take the child out of they throw a fit . But yes very kid friendly.

  • Glad the little ones in church was talked about! I am a first time momma with an under 1 yr old and I needlessly stressed sooo much over this in the beginning and would leave church feeling frustrated and drained. I kept trying to stay during the service but would constantly be stepping out to feed, diaper change (he always pooped at church 🤦‍♀️), quiet his energetic self, etc. Finally i started staying back in the nursery during service and helping with the 2 and under. It was such a special time to spend with the kiddos, I have been feeling refreshed serving instead of consuming, and the whole situation convicted me of the fact that if I am waiting for Sunday to be my only time of bible study and communion with God (which is ultimately why i was trying so hard to make it work) something wasnt quite right. Im confident youll figure out what works best for your situation. Hope this helps!

The book, The Independent Farmstead (I've visited their place) says they feed clabbered milk along with soaked wheat, root veggies, butchering scraps, etc to pigs and chickens and the milk takes care of the protein requirements Though i realize extra animals would br extra work 🙂

  • My babies went to the nursery until they were 5, so they never had a problem with staying there. When I took them into church we did things to make it work for them~go to the bathroom before, make sure they're comfortable, take certain things that will quietly occupy them, and also be ok with sleeping while they're young. They learned very quickly to sit through without a problem. Also~farm animals die. There are many things that can happen even when doing all the things, and we don't always know what that is. You shouldn't have to explain yourself. 😉

Currently our church has a lot of babies and toddlers. I struggle when the parents do not take their whining and crying babies out. We do have a speaker in the foyer and in the nursery. I think they just want their kids to have the expectation that they won’t get to go out of service and play every time they whine. I’m not sure it’s an effective strategy 😂. Like you said… they will learn to sit through at an appropriate age.

  • I am a morning person and like to use my mornings to read my Bible and then get ahead on chores. To give myself more time in the morning with out my early riser children in my way we have a sleep training clock. It's called Mella and is on amazon. It has a face that's awake during day time and sleeps at night time. You can set when bed time and day time is. It has a green light that comes on in the morning to tell your child it's ok to get out of bed. I have 5 kids right now only my 4 year old needs it. But if she wakes up before then light turns green she just sits in her bed and plays with her stuffed animals until the light turns green. It's very helpful for the early rising children. It was also helpful when we transition from crib to bed, because many children think when they wake in the middle of the night it's time to get up. But they can look at the clock and see it's still night time(sleepy face) and know to stay in bed. I usually sleep train mine around 9-12 months too and I google how many hours they are supposed to sleep at that age. Subtract how much I want them to sleep at night and make sure their nap or naps are not longer than the left over hours. Waking them up from a nap it needed. I do this every 3 month or so to make sure they are getting enough sleep. The sleep training clock also has a nap setting with an alarm to wake your child after a set amout of time. Making sure they are always going down at the same time helps alot. If I need to adjust nap time. For example I wanted to move my son's nap back by an hour so we could start going to story time at the library I start a few days early and adjust by 15-30 minutes each day. Always make sure you child has at least 30 minutes extra time in bed than what their needed sleep for their age is. I have done this even setting bed times for my old kids even into teens.

My daughter is 2.5 years old and still comes to our bed most nights at some point. This is also the child that won't go to sleep without me rocking her and when I tried cry it out....I caved after multiple hours of it not working. My son is 15 months old and currently teething and waking up 4-10 times per night to need soothing and comfort before he will fall back asleep and you can lay him down in his bed. It's a challenge for us right now for sure. I was desperate enough to consider paying for a program but I'm thinking that paying for a program probably won't solve the problem.

  • About the sleeping thing.. I co-slept until my little was too mobile, she refused to sleep once mobile unless in her crib. Anyway, this is what worked for me.. any time baby woke up in the middle of the night, I would attempt to get her back to sleep by patting her, "shhh shhh shhh", putting the paci back in her mouth, anything that comforted her. If it didn't work, then I knew she needed to nurse and/or be changed, but this process taught her to sleep longer and she was sleeping through the night by 2mo. Maybe this can help someone. Try to get them back to sleep, within reason, to teach them to soothe and learn to sleep longer. ❤

  • I’m sorry about your cow ! I grew up on a dairy farm and occasionally one of them would get hardware , most times a magnet worked because we knew what to watch for . I think I’d still be able to spot it by how the cow acted , sunken eyes arched back ,that and ketosis I still remember how there breath smells with that .And dairy farmers didn’t go on vacation 😅.

  • I'm sorry you haven't had a kiddo sleep through the night on their own. I know my wife and I were very lucky with our son. I dealt with a lot of the nighttime stuff, by three months he was sleeping for a block of about 4 hours. so I would get from 12-4 or so, by six months was closer to a regular six. Of the struggles of parenting we've been through, I'm thankful that wasn't one of them. We got to deal with the stresses of exclusively pumping, so there's that. (And I will confess, exclusive pumping is like the best of both worlds for dad.)

  • I'm surprised it is legal to sell whole raw cow milk. Our family had a Jersey and we sold the extra but that was ages ago when I was young and growing up. I understood it became illegal to sell it in the 60's or 70's. Has that changed.

  • We have very similar styles in parenting with our babies. My 11th baby is 6 months old and the nights can be tough! But I feel like it’s easier to just nurse baby back to sleep than worry about a young baby crying for me and I do love the baby snuggles. Plus I also know that my supply suffers greatly once my babies are finally sleeping at night. My very first two I tried all the tricks to get them to sleep through the night only for them to not sleep through the night until 9months. So we choose to just roll with it. Our 10th baby was the absolute worst though so when he was a year old we finally put his bed in the bathroom (very large bathroom) and closed the door. It only took two nights and he was sleeping so much better. I have no regrets in how we’ve done it. It’s amazing as young moms we can question sooooo many things, but as a more seasoned mother now (I’m 38 and my oldest is 20) I have much more confidence and just roll with the punches 😅

    • I haven't watched the video yet but this is so reassuring for me. I am a young mom of 2. I second guess EVERYTHING I do, especially when it comes to baby sleep. I sleep-trained my first (he still woke up 3x to feed after that since I didn't want to cut breastfeeding yet) and my second I made him het used to sleep alone from the get-go. I am sure that this was the best decision for my family but I also can't help but feel affected sometimes by what other say. I am happy to have communities where we can ask more seasoned moms about their experience!

  • About the cow and eating metal.. i’m betting this is a problem around the world. But here in Norway there Are big campaigns to keep people from throwing soda cans etc.. out of car Windows, or out in nature at all. It gets in to the fields, and eventually in to the animals food. Don’t know why, but this is basically only a problem with cows, and is rearly seen with sheep.

  • I’m sorry..did you say $15/gallon?? Who is paying that?? My family goes through 2 gallons/week. Though I would love to get fresh raw milk, there is no way I could justify spending $30/week on it. Is it really worth that? Is that a normal going rate? Maybe I’m out of touch with that kind of thing, but that just sounds insanely expensive to me for milk!!🤯🤑🥛

    • I've found that milk prices vary from area to area. Where we live, you have to be in a herdshare to purchase the raw milk and due to timing and situations we are actually members of two herdshares. The farms are approximately 2(ish) hours apart from each other. Different counties, different demographics and one is priced at $5 per gallon and another at $10 per gallon. In the same state in yet a different area, I know of farms that are priced at $13-$15 per gallon. That being said, I think the worth it question is something each individual has to decide on their own after researching raw milk vs. conventional milk. Personally, our family goes through 3-4 gallons per week currently and we've made the decision that it's worth it for us to do until there is a time we can have our own dairy cow. My opinion probably isn't the one you were looking for but hopefully you get something out of it. 😊 Have a great day!

    • @@minifarmwife6753 that’s actually quite helpful. Thank you!! We recently bought a 50 acre property in a rural area of AR and I’m slowly becoming acquainted with the lifestyle changes. We came from a large home in the Atlanta suburbs and we are now living in a camper (family of 5) on our property while we build our home. I would love to slowly get further from buying our food products from stores and transition to supporting local farmers in my area and growing my own garden. Just wasn’t sure how much to expect that to alter my family’s grocery budget. I’ve sourced local honey, beef, & pork..but not milk as of yet, though I know it is available near me. Just hoping the price here is more in the $5-10 range per gallon bc hearing $15 gave me a bit of sticker shock!!😅🤑

    • @laurenhinman8861 congratulations on the move and props to you for living in a camper as a family of 5. I used to say I could do that for a duration and then actually went camping in one as a family of 4 with one on the way and the bed alone changed my mind. 😁 We progressed to where we our in our food journey over many years and after having kids we were more comfortable with raw milk than conventional milk. Not to say the kids have never had conventional milk because we aren't perfect but for us, we were more comfortable with their main source of milk being raw dairy. Once you get your farm up and going, after the infrastructure, you may find your "grocery" bill is lower or shifted to elsewhere. I can't say our lifestyle is cheap or inexpensive by any means but for us the value outweighs the cost. There are a number of things in this lifestyle that can save you money, especially gardening if you build up the skills and put the sweat equity in. 😁 Best of luck!

    • What people don't know who haven't done sleep training is that if you do it via a rhythm and schedule, most babies sleep through on their own without crying at about 6 weeks. If you train later, you have to deal with some crying, if that's your concern. Many cases that I've heard, it only takes 2 or 3 days with not a whole lot of crying. For some women, demand feeding works. Some women need their sleep and they should not feel bad about it. When I had my first, I started the symptoms of celiac disease and git down to 96 lbs. Having a baby that slept was a lifesaver until I got diagnosed. After my second, my Dad was murdered and then I had my 3rd baby. Sleep again was a life saver while my Dad was missing and I was a wreck.
