Am I the only one who liked the Wii Remote?
¿ . I loved the Wii Remote. His complaints being “It’s hard to grip” & “Uncomfortable” are easily fixed by putting the sleeve on the remote.
No
No. The Wii Remote is my favorite controller so far.
Personally, I like it best with the nunchuk attached..... the nunchuk is so comfy to use.
Nope
“The only issue is they’re just too small.” Well that and the infamously inevitable joycon drift.
Idk why they're ranked so high, they're so uncomfortable to use and have little range on the sticks.
this video was made in 2019 i guess that problem wasnt that knew at that time

I loved the wii remote/nunchuck. I sucks that some game added unnecessary motion control but I really liked it in general. I enjoyed using it!! It should’ve been an option to use in Super Mario Galaxy in 3d All stars!
The super scope was designed like a bazooka, not a rifle. Which is why the fire button up on the top of it.
It seemed really strange to me that he didn't get that. Once you put the back brace on your shoulder you should immediately know why you don't have a trigger. It was designed this way so you can hold the thing for long gaming sessions. If he didn't understand the thing goes on your shoulder no wonder he had accuracy issues. I don't remember having any so long as you did the calibration right.

I don't get it
As a kid, one of the few things I ever took apart / tried to repair was my N64 controller. Even I could see that it was a horrible design: the stick is just grinding around in this little pit that it slowly scratches into dust. I remember cleaning it out and greasing it up a bit, which worked to some degree, but the stick still felt more wobbly from all that wear. That was 100x worse than the weird pronged shape, which actually was more comfortable to hold than any other controller I've held at the time. It actually made it all more futuristic and mysterious - like "We're entering the 3rd dimension, OF COURSE the controller has to look super weird". Oh and the sticks on N64 controllers for demo systems in stores were almost unusable like 24h after they were set up.
I wonder if it would be possible to mod an N64 controller and put in a more modern stick that would work better...
duck in gamestop- Yes. You can even use a GameCube stick. However, it's a step down in performance.
This is one of my favourite ranked videos you have made ranking every Nintendo controller can be quite tricky for me because you have to talk about the design of it how the buttons are how long the battery life is and how comfortable or uncomfortable they are so seeing you describe the design buttons and battery life on each controller is brilliant.

Story time: When I was younger, the only current gen console I had was the wii. So when I got my first Call of Duty game (Black Ops) it was on that system (and my god was it terrible compared to the other versions). Most players were using the wiimote and nunchuck because that was the standard controller combo for the game, meaning that the only way for these people to aim their weapon at anything was via the motion controls. One day, there was a wii classic controller on sale at my local Gamestop. I bought it with what measly money I had. I started using it Black Ops, and suddenly I was WRECKING online. Seriously, I was racking up 40+ kills with less than 3 deaths every. single. match. I strongly agree with everything you said about the Wii U Pro Controller. I love everything about it, except the triggers. If only they were analog...
You forgot about the HandsFree. It was a controller made by Nintendo for the NES which allowed people to control games without using their hands, marketed for people with disabilities. Players could press a or b by sucking in or blowing into a tube as well as move the tube around with their lips/tongue as a joystick. Although essentially the controls were pretty awful, it was the first controller to consider the needs of people with physical disabilities, in this case quadriplegia. It’s important to remember this, as while Microsoft is getting a lot of attention for their adaptable controller for Xbox. Nintendo was the first to address accessibility in gaming, albeit an unfortunate solution.
I never knew that, that is actually really cool
He mentioned in the beginning it was too expensive.
That was honorable mention 3. His exact words were the following: "Now, I wanted to throw out 3 honorable mentions that I COULDN'T get because they were way to expensive to buy. And that includes the N64 iQue Player Controller, the N64 Mouse, and the NES HFC." (HFC stands for "Hands Free Controller")
He didn't forget that (it was an honorable mention), but he did forget something that wasn't in the honorable mentions, and isn't that expensive (the Color TV-Game).

Zodasg yeah, the Wii was also my childhood.
Wii Remote is my #1 too
I know right? Same with the Wii U controller :P
Wiimote > nunchuck
I would agree with the Switch Pro and Joy Con placements if they were more resilient. For the 3 I own (Right and Left Joycons, and Pro), only 1 works as intended, the Left Joy Con. Pro has drifting issues from time to time, and Right Joy Con has drift, awful connection to the console when in portable mode and some face buttons only work when pressed at a certain angle, and even then they can still register the press multiple times. My Gamecube controler, despite being 20 yo, is working completely fine, and that's a very used and borderline maltreated controler. The only thing missing is the rubber on the motion stick. But hey, nice video. It's nice to see the history of Nintendo controllers and how they changed over the years. It's probably one of the most experimental companies when it comes to controllers and sometimes they hit, sometimes they miss, but hardly they ride completely on the success of their latest invention. You can still see the "SNES/Super Famicom" build in some newer controllers, but they always try different things to innovate and improve the classic design.
The super scope was designed for CRT tvs. Thats why it doesnt work well on modern tvs
The Wii Nunchuk is the best: it can be thrown at TV sets

OK the wii remote and nunchuck sideways, OK let me put this straight, if you use it like that for a ling time(or you are just young) it feels right
TWGORN couldn’t agree more. Absolute perfection
That could also just be your hand getting used to the square rounded edges and the fact that your has is being molded to help with holding it. The main complaint with Sideways Wiimote, more than the ergonomics, is that the 1+2 and B buttons suck ass to use while playing, along with the A being right next to the D-Pad, which is difficult to press while playing games without the chance for it to slip out of the hand or get unaligned. But if you can beat DKCR with a Wiimote sideways, you can play any game sideways!

I find they're either too hard or too easy to take off. The lock switch is very temperamental, which can lead to some issues.
I hope he doesn't force them out, because if you have brocken locks, using the Switch as a handheld becomes a nightmare. I'd hate for that thing to falls of and break on the flour like some fragile smartphone. I have 10 Joycons, that's maybe a bit much, but like so, I can have joycons where locks aren't being stressed, none of my friends want the same accessories and I already have a left Joycon where the lock got very lose with all this clicking on and clicking off.

I thought the GC controller would be #1. Not that I necessarily agree with that - I like the Switch Pro Controller a bit better, but I know how highly regarded the GC controller is. They're both excellent controllers.
If the Switch Pro Controller is truly as good as he says in the video, I need to get one, because so far the GameCube Controller is already my favourite controller, and I don’t even use the GameCube often. I just think it feels THAT good.
I personally think it's a pretty bad controller, the d pad it's awful, the c stick it's too small, it lacks too many buttons for no reason and the button layout is weird. It works well for the games made around it like Smash or RE4, but for multiplatform games it can be uncontortable.
oscarzx n I really do not like using GameCube controllers for Smash Bros, odd as it may seem with that being the reason they're still being made. For Smash Bros, I find the button layout and mismatched sizes to be a detriment. The controller as a whole feels pretty nice, I think, though not as good as Switch Pro. A lot of GameCube and Wii games did work really well with it. I really like how it's used in Zelda.
What About The GameCube Controller With The Giant Keyboard Built In? Just Because It Would Probably Be In Last Doesn’t Mean It Doesn’t Deserve A Mention

TheFuriousBean To be fair, both have not that many grips. Also, in my opinion, pressing the 1 and 2 buttons feel weird compared to pressing X and Y. It also kinda feels a little disoriented to hold a nunchuck with it. So I think the ranking of the Wiimote should be the same or a little higher.
Wii mote should be 2 and SNES mote be 1 NES controller 3
Omg this just unlocked a forgotten memory I remember the GameCube mic I loved it
After I picked up a gamecube controller to USB adapter, my son had fun using bizarre controller combinations in Dolphin. Watching him play Mario Kart Wii on the DK Bongos was almost as fun as watching him play the same game using DDR stomp pads.
My favourite is the Wii remote! Probably because the Wii was a huge part of my childhood (like the DS Lite). Edit: OOF Wii remote got 13th place
He said it wasn't easy to hold... So get a cover! I agree with you
my too
Completely agree! Wii remote should be #1. Switch Pro controller is good, but the price. Same price as a 2DS. Went a little overboard.
Lol me too I grew up with the DS lite and the Wii I only played Go Diego Go and mario kart on the Wii and I can only remember the name on one game I played on the DS lite was mario basketball
I agree. It was the only one I knew. I thought every game was on it.
The NES zapper is in Smash though. It's literally part of the Duck Hunt trio
^ came down here to say this
Bingo.
DUO
@@patriciabowler5425 no it is technically a trio

The SNES super scope is meant to be placed on the shoulder. That’s why the buttons are at the top.
9:43 Nathaniel: The second controller having a mic! For, some reason. JonTron: THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!!
11:08 Before you say anything, hear me out To take of the the grips You need to first unlock them ( in the bottom of the grip ) Then press the + or - bottom like taking it off the switch Then you can take off the grip with ease
WHY DIDN'T NINTENDO TELL US I DA FIRST PLACEEEEEEE?
I've only used like 3 of these, but I found this super fun to watch 😝
Let me guess the three GameCube controller Joycon Switch pro controller
8:04 Ithe wii remote sideways is great for retro games like Mario and I really like it
Switch stuff 17-Pokéball PLUS - 4:50 7-Joy-Con - 10:47 1-Switch Pro Controller - 14:32
Who cares but cool comment
Scope is supposed to mounted on the shoulder
And the "trigger" he was talking about is where you're supposed to mount it on your shoulder.
Yes. That oversight made me cross too. And he looks like he’s missing the crosshair piece, which would surely help with the accuracy.
Correct.
Yeah man I raged for a second at that too (just for a second tho :P ). It's supposed to mimic a bazooka, not a rifle!
Man, almost turned off the video right there... CMON MAN
8:07 the wii remote side ways is basically an nes controller
Lol yea and he puts the nes controller in front smh
But it's bigger and with more spaced out buttons and different edges, and... Yeah they're completely different
Te only difference is the joystick
Wii remote B button: *Am I a joke to you?*
i thought i was the only one who thought that i have a wii u and a nes (plus 3ds switch gameboy advance and playstation 1)
The clips on the back of the wii classic controllers were used to attach to playable consoles in stores.
Nice video man! Only thing I’ll say is that Wii mote deserves to be higher in my eyes, extremely innovative and variable, and the nunchuck paired felt great on your hands. As much as I respect the OG nes controller, I think this deserves to go over it (as well as the Wii pro controller, was never a fan of the analog sticks being so close and literally having to have a Wii mote to even use the pro controller)
And in that vein I think Joycons deserve to be higher too, the new ones don’t really have much difficulties with the slider
@@gamefreak2050 I think joycons deserve to be lower
I will say, I agree with most in this video, also, I would've ranked the N64 Controller lower. That analog stick is the end of me. Although yes, even though it's very generic the pro controller is the best controller Nintendo ever made. The amount of useless mics you must've bought is really creditable.
I don’t understand everybody’s problem with the analog stick, mine on all 4 of my controllers have always worked beautifully.
I never had any issues with the N64 stick. I think people complain more because it looks thin and therefore they assume it's fragile. The added thickness of the playstation sticks doesn't add any structure. It's just there to look nice.
@Spaceman Alph I've never had any issues with that whatsoever.
@Spaceman Alph The Mario party thing is mainly people using the stick in a way it wasn't meant to be used in. If you would put any other stick under that kind of abuse it won't hold up either. However other controllers don't have a stick in the middle with nothing in the way.
@Spaceman Alph Indeed if you do it with your thumb it holds up fine. The problem is that many did it with their palm which allows you to spin it faster. However it also goes much more forcefully and the stick isn't build to handle that.
11:02 the BIGGEST problem with joycons is DRIFT
yes
Obviously, but he’s ranking it on how they feel
@@wrenren2112 He should be ranking them on quality as well. As in, hardware quality. Doesn't matter how much a controller feels if it's prone to just breaking out of the blue.
Yes Coming from a person who experiences drift
@@wrenren2112 but when they drift they feel horrible, ruins the whole experience.
11:50 - That button in the middle was a clamp/release for a grip that made the classic controller even more comfortable to hold (especially for folks with larger hands). I had a pair of them and used the classic controller and grip to 100% Mario Kart Wii back in the day... I don't know why the controller just didn't come with the grip to start with.🤷♂️
I have a wii and it works in great condition now been playing some mario kart wii and Mario party 8
